I've been there and I'd say that as long as the weather's dry and there's no ice or snow on the steps, any comfortable flat shoe will do! But it's so steep, it does take a LOT of energy.

For those traveling, the station has a decent amount of lockers for your bags for a few hundred yen. The autumn leaves do make the place look a lot nicer, but it was still a nice view in september.

I always love to see the seasons changing in Japan, their trees always look more red than here in the UK. This was such a beautiful place and the views were breath taking even from my pc chair. I was at a conference in Sendai and had a longer lunch because the first panel after lunch seemed irrelevant to my research. So I made a quick trip to Yamadera, in a long dress and heels, in mid-July when it was super hot and humid. Still worth it :)

I think it's sweet that Sharla brought us on some of their first dates. Chris being his charming self around her, vs when she's not around, he is cynical Chris. 😆 Meanwhile Chris just finally opened up on his channel about dating Sharla. I think you 2 make a great match. But at the end of the day, no one else's opinions matter but yours and Chris and if you 2 make each other happy.
