Hey! I have a question. Do they hire former teachers for corporate training positions? I’m just arming myself with backups in case I get burned out of teaching! Also I love how you use a planner!
I'm here for the same reason. Back up plan from teaching. Corporate trainer was suggested as a viable option ... interestingly... before I started teaching I wanted to do corporate training ... here I am back at this lol
@@neha7690 Yes, I am a former English teacher who is now a training specialist for a big corporation. It's helpful if you have some knowledge with LMS systems, instructional design, etc. as well.
@@rain-wanders hi, thank you so much! Is it true you need a portfolio? I have applied to several instructional design jobs and am not getting any offers. I honestly have heard that they pass up teachers for these positions because like every teacher wants to go into it, lol! Also, if you don’t mind me asking, what is your pay/work life balance like?
@@neha7690 Yes, you will want a portfolio. If you have the Devlin Peck here on RU-vid. He has a course you can take, but it isn't cheap, but he has helped teachers transition into ID. It isn't true that you can't get in, it's just hard. I recently started a Training Specialist & LMS Administrator job. The pay isn't the greatest, $28/hr, but I get to work remotely which was MY #1 goal, and so far the work/life balance is good. Also it's far less stressful than teaching! Look on RU-vid for free ID portfolio projects if you'd like to go that route, or sign up for Devlin's course if you can.
Hey, do you have other social media I could reach out to you on. I’ve restructured my resume (leaving teaching in May) and I’m wanting to give this a go. A lot of transferable skills but I still have questions
