Hellooo, I moved to Edinburgh two weeks ago from India and now I've been put on the waiting list by the school. I just wanted to know your experience with racism and bullying if you have any, thank you :)
@@shamimakhtara3145 it's actually not that bad. As far as I know, it won't be stressful as it is there. Because we'd have to write our boards and it's hell. But here it ain't that much. It depends on the level you are doing but as far as ik it's awesome and less stressful. They focus on your aims and you have a lot of options to chose which we do NOT have in India.
I might go to uk high-school next year and even thought its not something set in stone im still feeling anxious thinking of leaving so to say " my life behind " and start something new especially since uk high-school looks FAR more different than the high-schools in my country
I'm moving to Britain in a few months and I'd be joining right in 8th grade. I'm extremely nervous as I've never been to the UK before and I really don't want to be bullied for not being British and having a different accent. I know not everyone is bad but there's always a few rotten apples. I've been seeing so many British school vlogs. I'm really scared but excited too. Really scared cos I actually have no clue what in hell GCSEs are and there's so much notoriety surrounding them. Excited cos I can finally bring electronics to school (it's forbidden in my side of the world) Just thought I'd share cos it's always better to share it on the internet :) if you're British, please do tell me your experiences as I really don't want to jump into this blind. :))
I'm in 9th grade and I'll be moving to other country of my choice to go through high school next year, and I'm also seeing a lot of vlogs like this since UK is one of my options. I'm also scared about bullying or xenophobia since there's kind of a background of intolerance from there (and since I'm from not so dear country ig?) And well, i think we can say that every country has a little of it and perhaps if that happens to us, we'll have to find a way to deal w it but hey, good luck to you, i hope u find true friends there !!
I have lived in the UK my whole life, and I really hope you enjoy it here! Most part of it is really diverse, so there is bound to be people from different countries there. I'm two months late and I apologise, but I hope everything has been going well!
I go to school in the UK, have always lived here. Honestly I don't think there's anything to worry about, the international kids at my school do perfectly fine. I'm sure you know this by now but GCSEs are just the secondary school qualifications you take when you're 14-16. Don't worry too much about them, I mean I'm doing them and it's not that bad.
Im literally going to be in S2 and i am scared even tho I know the life of highschool since i was an S1 but still it feels very scary!! This made me feel nice 🙂
By the videos i have seen and the news reports as well , i belive it is sometimes a struggle for you as an asian in the uk. Anyways i hope your safe and have good day.😊
hey, its not a definite no as bullying exists everywhere, but I wouldn't worry about it at all, ur ethnicity or religion should be a reason for discrimination. I would worry about bullying at all
I got to a British High school, I'm not Muslim, but I know for a fact you would be treated well. Yes, some people may be rude, but that rarely happens.
I have a question can you speak American English (I'm not trying to be rude but I just think that your voice is beautiful and I want to hear it in different languages)

i would say my experiences aren’t as bad as what others have had to face, in my opinion thanks to my british accent and the fact i was born in the uk, soo it is quite evident that whenever someone will try to say things i will quite quickly remind them that it is racist and it’s not right. i personally don’t get offended by any comments or such but it’s more like to make sure that other person doesn’t do it to others that are more vulnerable to comments. i’m not trying to say what i experience isn’t out of order but what i’m saying is i make sure the person knows what he or she is saying which is wrong soo they don’t do the same to others that could be affected by it more. i will 1000% stand up to someone who is clearly being racist! i have encountered multiple scenarios when people are ill treating my mum and just plain right being disrespectful because of her having a little bit of accent, and if i’m there i will chat clearly to the other person if they don’t understand my mum and i will talk in a manner that they understand that i will not tolerate the way they’re talking to my mum and they usually back down. i’m grateful to say i don’t face racism at school, whether that be because people know i just don’t care and they know it’s wrong to, or either i don’t hear it because they’re being racist behind my back, we will never know. but one thing i need to make clear to whoever is reading this is that you treat every single person the same, whether they be white, black or asian or any other ethnicity. because you don’t know what that person does for a living (he or she may be a very successful business owner, you never know), you don’t know what he or she has gone through, and you don’t know what they’re going through. they may one day be your boss or manager and when you come to face them they’ll always remember you were racist to them, soo no matter what you’re going through that day, you need to treat every single person the same!
