Hi! Thanks for sharing. I tried to get an apprenticeship from a goldsmith here in Portland, Or. He just told me to go to a local school unfortunately. I'm still thinking about going but it costs 11k. Are you working just from your etsy shop? And able to make a living. I am afraid of failing and not being able to make it. I know better ways to make money so money not issue, I guess just making jewelry people would want
Hi, I'm glad you like my videos :) I didn't go for any apprenticeship myself. I went to a jewellery school in the UK and got a part time and later full time job making jewellery in silver and 18ct gold before going solo. If I do it again, I would learn from watching RU-vid videos (totally free!) in my spare time and try to find a part time job in a jewellery company. In this way, you can keep making money doing something not jewellery (you mentioned you have a better way to make money), in the end of the day, we all have to pay bills. Gradually, you can make more and more jewellery and know if making jewellery is the way you want for just as a hobby or you want to go full time doing it. It's just my opinion. Hopefully this helps :)
@@HuiyiTan Thank you I'll take your advice and keep watching videos and take classes and maybe go to the school of I like it. Also, I make money as a equities and cryptocurrency trader. But I've always had a artistic side so I need to balance out
@@SRC503 How nice! Do both! Both careers don't contradict. When you have the financial freedom, you can make anything you like :) I have a jewellery making class coming up online by the end of this month; I can send you the link if you are interested :)
@@HuiyiTan they are an important part of the storytelling in your content. Not going to lie, your lunch made me a little jealous (and hungry!) My cherry tomatoes won't be ready for a while! I've been enjoying your content since discovering it. Keep up the good work!
