Starting a RU-vid channel in exam week...
Have you ever procrastinated studying so hard you made a RU-vid channel and started vlogging? That's me in exam week. This is a day in the life of a data science (master) student at the University of Amsterdam.
I started this study 4 months ago - my defense for still getting lost around Amsterdam.
Hope you enjoyed watching this, I had a lot of fun vlogging for the first time so there should be more videos like this coming up in the future!

Get an IPad, have pictures embedded in some generic note-taking app side by side. When referring back to the notes (Which you eventually will) - it is easy to search through and recall. Why pictures? They simplify pages of material, if only. I took about 7 different books to eventually figure this out and then sometimes you randomly forget where you've taken down KL Divergence.

The Elements of Statistical Learning by Jerome H. Friedman, Robert Tibshirani, and Trevor Hastie is a good one; and for my master course they recommended us Deep Learning by Ian Goodfellow as a "bible" or sorts.

Ayush Choubey they are quite nice, although I’ve already covered quite a bit of it in my data science bachelor in Maastricht. But if you’re new to the subject I think it’s a great introduction

In Europe it's a bit different, for my bachelor I just needed to have passed my baccalaureate and have an English proficiency test; for the master it was enough that I graduated from a bachelor.

As long as you are in the STEM(science, technology, engineering, mathematics) it won't be a problem, but that being said you would still need to be educated in relevant field.

I doubt that you're running any deep or machine learning code locally on it, that's mostly done on cloud. Anything with a good processor would suffice. Though if you do need to run deep learning locally I'd recommend NVidia Gpu laptops with GTX or RTX card

I don't think there's a specific time frame for it, I mean you kind of always continue learning ML on the job/through research. But you can start doing practical assignments & projects on sites like kaggle to get some more experience. Good luck!

Anything would work, you don't need huge performances. I'm using the ThinkPad E490 and it's doing super fine ^^ then again I've only started data science this term, and im going on masters next year! Good luck.

You should always look up the tuition fee on the university website you're interested in, as they can change every year and it also depends on the program. The ones I went to were about 2k for EU students and 10k for outside EU.

Hi! You can check international rankings of universities like QS or THE to see different criteria - in the end it's a personal choice what you think matters most in a university, I can't speak about places I haven't studied at myself. Had a great experience with Maastricht university in NL but I'm sure there's a lot of good ones out there. Good luck!

I think it depends on what your passion is and what subjects you like. It's a lot of math, statistics, and some computer science. Check out my video going over the courses in my bachelor and see if it sounds familiar or you can look up those topics and read a bit about it to see if it sounds interesting to you!

you can study data sciene at the technical university of Eindhoven, it's the only data science bachelor in the Netherlands

Ajin justin yesss maths is very important so liking it would be helpful. Have you also tried programming before? You don’t need to know as much of that beforehand but could make it easier :)

Does data science require much coding?

You would need to be able to use at least python or R for the models - you can often import functions from libraries like scikit learn but you still need to be able to write the code to import it, do the data processing, get the results etc. But you may not need to code in the "software engineering" type of way - that's more the AI engineer; or SQL would be needed for data engineers and sometimes also data scientists.
