A day in the life of a greyhound - Good morning Magnus 

My retired greyhound refused to get up before 9am and if you tried to get him up early he would stick his head under the pillow.

I genuinely cannot wait to graduate and finally start my life. Adopting a greyhound has been something I've looked forward to for so long omfg

Magnus is lucky to have such great caretakers as yourselves. My wife and I are on our 3rd and 4th greyhound and we can't see our lives now without them.

Lovely video and magnificent hound. Our greyhound daily routine as follows Get up about 8.00 am weekdays, annoy owners for walk. 8.30 a.m back to bed as clearly exhausted by gentle morning walk.Annoy owners about 10.00 am for breakfast than choose which of the multiple beds or couches on which to sleep off exhaustion from eating. 1.30pm, annoy owners for walk/car ride then choose bed/couch to recover on.4.30pm/ 5pm annoy owners for final walk/car ride, back to house, spin around rapidly in tight circles in back yard, ensure grass is ruined. Race into house, shake whole body so that all spindly legs leave ground and house moves on foundations, pant loudly, sneeze or cough on owners. Complain if dinner not ready, eat dinner, watch TV/ snooze on couch till 9pm, go to bed to recover from extreme exhaustion of day. Repeat...

He's just precious. Recently lost my first retired racer at 12 yrs old.. This was hard to watch but beautiful too. I'd love to hear more about his raw diet!

My parents had greyhounds when I was a kid. The majority of the rescue groups in my area got their greyhounds from Florida. But once Florida banned racing, there were hardly any greyhounds to adopt and the rescue groups eventually couldn't get anymore dogs so they closed up. It was bittersweet. On one hand it was sad that you couldn't get them anymore but at the same time happy that the rescue groups had accomplished and finished their mission. They're such an incredible breed.

I have a greyhound and I thought it would be like this: Wake me up by putting his nose in my face Feed him Walk Sleep Sleep Move a little Sleep maybe move to the couch Sleep Sleep Play outside Get water Sleep Dinner and walk Sleep

This video was posted just a week after I adopted my greyhound/lurcher Bellman and now 7 months later I couldn't imagine my life without him. We don't actually know if he was ever raced, as he was found abandoned on the street with a broken leg that had to be amputated, but he certainly came to this world to be raced and then forgotten about. Now instead he's being lavished with treats and spends his days getting scratchies on the couch or running in the park with other dogs (all of which he outruns even on 3 legs hehe). I wish all dogs got their happy ever after, to be loved as only dogs can love.

Magnus eats better than I do. You guys take very good care of your boy. 🆒🆒🆒

These dogs seem so relaxed. Whatever separation anxiety he has is nothing to what I experienced-- my dog would open windows, doors, cry, howl, bark. These Greyhounds are very appealing in every way.

Magnus is a lovely boy! I've watched all your videos. I recently adopted a retired racer: GM's Felix from a Florida race-track. He is the only big dog in our toy dog meet up group at my neighbourhood park. It's really funny as all his friends are 1/12th his size! I've trained him to chase a fetch-it ball and he just started to retrieve it now all by himself!

I adopted my first greyhound in 2002 and to this day I have one on my couch as I type. Many bridge kids but I have loved them all and each one had their own personality. Sad the tracks are closing now and the racing greyhounds will soon be gone.

My bride of 50+ years and I have been graced with two wonderful hounds. This video very effectively shows what it takes to care for these magnificent animals. After retiring from their racing careers, they are a perfect match for senior citizens due to their gentle nature. My two, Wizard and Huey, have both left for the Rainbow Bridge, but believe me when I say they are still with us. Magnus is a perfect example of what we had been graced with in our two boys, and we are confident the next rescue will fit in that mold. Excellent video Degs!!!!!! I think I had something in my eye while watching.

He has such a wonderful life and is so well cared for, you are giving him the best life any dog could ever have. Really enjoy all his videos, they are so educational with lots of great ideas. He is a wonderful looking dog, so gentle and affectionate.

What a handsome dog! I live with my girl ex-racer, greyhound, in a flat. She's my second greyhound and has lived with other dogs and a cat. I buy meat at local butcher and two things I wanted to ask you. 1) Does butcher not mind Magnus in his shop? Katie is well behaved, and stands on the doorstep, watching to see what 'yummies' for her dinner! All the locals know her and she is clapped by everyone. 2) What do you buy at butchers? Katie loves the turkey sausages, ribs, lamb shank, liver and tripe ( this can be difficult to get, but my butcher saves some for her, when he has it. I actually think tripe and turkey are her favourite! It never ceases to amaze me how much they cuddle,and sleep and so completely at home. So many greyhound rescue centres will absolutely refuse to re home one of their greyhounds if you live in a flat. Absolutely ridiculous, when so many of these beautiful dogs could be given a forever home. In fact there is one not very far from you that has this policy!! Shame on them. The Sunday walk, is that organised by the centre on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Interested because I live about 15miles from Edinburgh? Lovely video. Thank you.

when I adopted my Greyhound I decided he needed socialising so I took him down the pub to see the world, 1st time he dropped such a whiffy one in the bar he almost cleared it 2nd time we went they were having a meat raffle, to cut to the chase we don't go to that pub anymore, but he has calmed down considerably and got used to his new diet.

Magnus is a very good boy and he's lucky to have both of you!!

Love it!! My current model ( Ludo) is one of the few who barks a lot, is scared of men ( probably result of racing abuse) and an early riser (6 am most days!) so never get a lie-in!!

For example, my greyhound wears coats or jackets during the cooler weather, but I don’t seem to see that so much over your way, even though your weather is so much colder. Nice video! I’ve had four retired racing Greyhounds in my life. My boys slept in the bed with me. Of course I didn’t have them all at once. They are wonderful babies. I would still have a Greyhound but because of my arthritis I was afraid if I had to pick him up I wouldn’t be able to do it. I now have adopted Italian Greyhounds (2). I adore them. I still have the Greyhound but in a smaller package.

Thank you for creating and sharing this video, very informative. Ive always thought leaving a dog alone when we're both out to work to be unfair on the dog. You've shown that is not necessarily the case. Raised an eyebrow as he crunched though them chops but again that is what he would do in nature. We will get a dog one of these days.

Yeah, they are the best dogs. Tame, gentle, smart and sensitive. No yipping at every little thing either. No barking. Ours loves roaching on the couch. Ours whines on occasion but so very little. Sleep, sleep, sleep a lot. We live in Canada and we have outdoor, fenced in skating rinks and in the summer we let our Avery off leash and she runs free and I mean run. She’s also loopy crazy in love with meeting people, she has an out of body experience she wiggles so wildly. Like your the love of her life and she just met you. I think if you have one Greyhound, you want more, they are addicting. We feel very gifted by knowing our Avery. There is a wisdom inside these dogs. You can see why Royalty took to them.

I love Greyhounds and wish I could adopt a retired racer. One question I have is, I thought you're not supposed to let them be off of a leash due to how fast they can run? Meaning you would never be able to catch them.

I have shown my Greyhound the part where she is meant to walk into her leash but she insists on dashing back to bed.

9 out of 10 times when my greyhound stretchered she would fart, she was funny, man I miss her and so does her big sister one night a few months ago she unexpectedly passed away after dinner at 11 yrs old. R.I.P Betty, never forgotten.
