I work for a law firm too and am also working from home. I LOVE it so much. I also turn my sound off for my emails except for during business hours. I can't stand hearing it go off at dinner time - it sets me on edge for the whole evening until I check it. I also keep a second mobile device for work and then my personal one has no work stuff on it :) that helps me "shut work down" for the day. I also have an office -- which also helps when I can just leave the room when work is done.
I’m enjoying working from home too - I love the extra time I have now! It sounds like you’ve got some great strategies to get that work-life balance. Amazing!
This was highly informative. It was fun watching the day unfold. Having to be on call on the weekend for work isn't ideal but I guess that's the lawyer life. That's also the software engineering life. Not everyone but a good percentage. And then work days going till 8 doesn't sound fun either but it's necessary as I see. Thanks for sharing parts of your life and the junior lawyer work experience.
Currently articling in a WFH environment, and this has brought me a sense of comfort and relief. I had a lot of worries that I wasn't "properly practicing law" day to day from my spare bedroom, as one is supposed to during their articles and as my office is DT Toronto, I don't believe I will ever be in an office during articling. All of this is to say, thank you. I have been following you since I started my law school applications and it is so cool to see you at this point in your career. Thank you for providing this insight!
lol at your hatred of grocery lists-I thought I was the only one who struggled with feeding myself! I do have a few of recommendations for breakfast, though: peanut butter and banana toast, avocado toast, or smoked salmon and cream cheese on toast. Those are my faves, and I find toast more filling than cereal. :)
I bet you're pretty busy, but it would be cool if you could post more often 😁 I found your channel and I love it. Even if I am not a student in Canada, actually I'm from Romania planning to do a second degree in law (as the first one was basically my parents choice) , I watched all your videos and I find them very useful and motivating and you have a great personality. 👍👍👍👍
