I’m hoping to do this eventually, not as a software engineer, but something in business. I just want to try out Japan for a bit and see if it’s for me, but with a remote job to avoid the intense and stressful Japanese work ethic employed by companies over there. I think Japan is a good place to live if you can work remotely or for a company that doesn’t overwork you. Feel like that’s the biggest complaint people have about living in Japan.
Glad you got a routine down even working outside a traditional office. Must be more of a senior level judging by the meetings but at least you get some code in there. Cool views I would love to visit Japan some day.

I’m not a visa expert but from my memory, as long as you’re not on a “dependant” visa, you shouldn’t have any issues. I would consult a visa agent though. One thing to keep in mind is tax implications - make sure you research how to pay your taxes in Japan while working remotely, it might be complicated. Unfortunately, I can’t provide any useful info here as I’m employed by the Japanese entity of my company so they handle it for me.

Me as a software engineer in Japan, Starts at 9, wakes up at 8:50, skip all meals until dinner, take care of kids from 5 until they sleep at 8, go back to coding personal stuff until 12. Sleep. No way y’all got that discipline at home 😂

Brb, just gonna do a pull request to implement the bean grinding the night before consumption, that should fix the fatal bug of calling the bean grinding function while the wife is still in the sleep() function.
