I do miss supply teaching sometimes. I've done it in the past when I've been in between teaching roles and while it's not quite as fulfilling as being a regular teacher, it's all the classroom experience with none of the tedious stuff like marking, planning and endless meetings. It's especially great when you get regular work in a nice school. And if you end up in a tough school? Oh well, you don't have to go there again, unlike some teachers who are lumbered with awful classes for an entire year! Sometimes I'm tempted to just apply for a cover supervisor role in a good school.
How did you apply for the relief support worker with the action group? I’m looking for a side job for financial support during quiet times of the school year and gain experience in other sectors to boost employability down the line! Thanks
Hi Kenneth, I worked for that organisation about 20 years ago and had fond memories so looked them up online. I noticed they were looking for casual support workers and so filled in the application form. I suppose it helped I had previous experience but it's not always necessary. Good luck with that. I've found it very helpful.
