My son and his wife are firefighters. It’s the slackest job and basically the waste of money is crazy. Now before you carry on I was an intensive care paramedic and have seen everything and there is no comparison with these jobs. The fire brigade is a joke
@@whatisthis1262 I’m having a bit of fun. It’s an In joke. Don’t take it so seriously. My son doesn’t. We hang it on each other all the time. I was an ambo for a long time so stay cool mate. It’s a bit of fun. I’m proud of them
Looks amazing, I'm onto the ability test stage of recruitment (in Wales) which I'm pretty anxious about pretty sure I already have the fitness and strength required as I live a pretty disciplined lifestyle. Getting an hour a day for physical exercise as part of a job is a dream come true! Thank you for your work and a great video. :)
Amazing mate! Good luck! I’ve just put my interest forward for WMFS as they are recruiting at the moment, I would appreciate any heads up or tips for the application process
im currently applying to the fire brigade, as a daughter of a fireman im so nervous and also havent told my dad im applying. as a female im so so worried of being turned down
female Firefighters are every bit as capable as men, believe in yourself, i work with three female firefighters at my station, every one of them as good as any male firefighters.
UK firefighter: I've had me cup o' tea and now I'm ready to start me day Me a firefighter in the US: yah I've slammed down 5 cups of coffee and 2 red bulls and now im ready to start my day
I want to apply and I want to ask, I’m doing my MATHS GCSE to improve my grade but how important is the english GCSE ? Is it just down to the test or do I need the grades to actually be considered ? Thank you!
I have a question. For s4 high school pupils would you accept work experience application things to go down to a station and take notes on what you can do
Hi Debbie, wholetime is full-time so these are firefighters that are based at the station. On-call firefighters have other jobs local to the station and respond to incidents as they come in.
In our brigade we get them from a local car recycling centre, to train on them they have to have all the fluids removed, not just the fuel. Normally MOT failures as we want a decent enough car to train with.
@@Gencturk92 Thankfully not done as often as you think, scary no, to many things to be thinking about, we average 2-3 calls each 10/14 hour shift. Hoax calls in the uk are getting fewer we have a good education program going into schools etc.
@@dubster4173 imagine wearing all that gear on a summer day and going inside a burning building like grenfell or a tragedy like 9/11 where many firemens lost their lives...its still amazing that they still risk their own lives for others, you could possibly die
We typically recruit from residents of Nottinghamshire, our website has more information about the recruitment and selection process www.notts-fire.gov.uk/careers/wholetime-firefighters/faq/
Always wanted to be in emergency services, but I was born with hearing loss in one ear. That's it. That's all it takes to make me "unsuitable". Doesn't matter what I do or how hard I work for any of it. My physical fitness, intelligence and willingness to run into dangerous situations is worthless. Not just to public services, but a lot of businesses (even office jobs) have rejected my applications because of it. That's the UK for you; treats people with disabilities like shit. Fucking sucks!
I wanted to join the military and/or police after uni but unfortunately developed epilepsy. I had dreams of doing a private pilot license in my 30s too (which I've just entered), but all of these things are out of reach for me now. It's crap but I get it. I would be a liability, which is dangerous for me and everyone else. I know I'd want the fire fighter rescuing me to be in peak condition.
Considering communication is a big part of the job, you may be a liability. You may miss some important information that may put you and your crew mates and victims in way more danger
Hi Megan, we have lots of information about the entrance requirements over on our website along with this helpful training guide www.notts-fire.gov.uk/careers/Documents/Firefighter%20Recruitment%20Fitness%20Guidance%20On%20Call.pdf which has a 12-week fitness program included.
I must be reading things. I was under the impression you guys slept for awhile had breakfast got up went to a school to show the kids the truck then had lunch. Afternoon watched you tube clean the truck back to bed then home. Oh and just maybe you went to a false alarm
