Your gonna turn out to be a really good electrician, i can tell that you take pride in it and thats awsome to see good job coming from a journeyman keep it up
Yeah man just take it one day at a time, your gonna have people your just cool with and people that come along that don't like you and visa versa but that's life don't let no one or situation discourage you, you picked a good trade/carrer, to be honest I haven't met a broke electrician yet and we will always be needed

When cable tying wires like this it is much easier to put the first tie at the very top. This way the cable is supported and you can then add the ties below without having to hold the heavy cable to the fixture.
Aye don’t stop making these vids bro, keep inspiring an motivating I’ll be back to post a message end of next year, I’m going into Trade School this October.
@@ROB.314 Congratulations to Rob, Proud of you man! Enjoy this new journey in your life & stay Locked In. You Got This Brother! I’ll be waiting on the comment also!👍🏽🙏🏽
electrician from texas. You did clean work. Only criticism is land your wires first....then zip strip them. Once your journeyman verifies you landed everything correctly, clean it up with the zip strips. Keep up the great work young man.
I appreciate it! Unfortunately that’s how they instructed me to do it, But I definitely understand where you’re coming from.. Thanks for the advice & the Support!👍🏽

Watching this really made me excited to apply to my local IBEW im hoping I can get into the apprenticeship. I really love electrical work I’ve always been so fascinated seeing the work be done.
Congratulations my man that’s a big move, Hopefully you can get in there I’ve heard nothing but good things about the IBEW. Let me know how it goes if you can!👍🏽
Look into your local’s CW/CE program. It may not pay as highly as apprenticeship tiers, but it is a way in. You gain in field experience and begin work much more quickly.
Love the video and would love to see more like it. I’m wanting to peruse a career as an electrician so getting to see what the day to day looks like is helpful.
Keep up the good work, remain humble, listen to the guys with more experience, try more than one way of doing things long as it’s safe and current you will find the way that works best for you. Always remember there is more than one way to do the same job. Keep up the good work ethic!

This was my plan as a 17 year old fresh out of high school. Was hired on through a school co op program. It was going great, towards the end of my time there the guys started letting me take the lead on certain tasks. Was laid off today due to shortage of work. They said I had a great work ethic and it didn’t have to do with my performance. Now lost due to no job opportunities for first years in my area.

Is your apprenticeship all on the job? The one near me makes you go to class for 2 hours a day 2 days a week and has you do on the job training too. They don’t have IEC in my state, i’m in Louisiana.
Yes sir my apprenticeship is all on the job training, Honestly I wish I had the option to go to class a few hours a week. But for right now I just try to stay in the code book & ask questions when I don’t understand something.. I would call some local shops in your area and see what they say. Me personally I don’t think the school option is a bad choice just depends on what you’re looking for. Hope that helps & let me know how everything goes!👍🏽
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman it went well. The lady was sweet as hell lol. She informed me on the entire process & told me what documents I need to start their apprenticeship program. Even said, she’ll provide a study guide for the aptitude test. Looking forward to starting soon🫡!

@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman i have a degree in electrical engineering, passed the national certification in electrical installation, and board exam in master electrician. Awesome video man, I am considering this career myself. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I am 32 and was wondering if it's too late to start.
Being in the union does it guarantee work all year long or do you get laid off often? I ask because I want to leave an office job but worried about only working 9 months a year.
Ibew local 60 here in san antonio . As a 4th year apprentice ive never been laid off always had steady work even thru covid times. Also as a student you're pretty much guaranteed work. Lets say i was to get laid off from my current contractor . I'd simply call the school and they'd have me with a new contractor the next day. 👍🏾
Working with the VFD wires, they had a lot of things labeled I was working with the engineer so they basically told where everything needed to go I just needed to make sure it was nice and neat.👍🏽

#yourlame#wheresyourcrewcommentingonthatbustedasslunch lol I know they were clowning on it. Your video was good and informative. Work out was lame. Are you still in? I doubt it, but if you are rock and roll. Guys are assholes at first until you earn it, then its a brotherhood.
I applied online for electrical apprentice license, and applied to a place called IEC & that’s were the company I work for saw my application gave me an interview & I got the job..🙏🏽
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman did you go to a trade school? because im in one right now and do you know if they can find a job for me that can get my license because i went to the job fair and their offering like solar pannel or working on like a boat.
I live in Texas, so I went to TDLR.Com & purchased my license from there I think it was 20 dollars & it came in the mail in about week. @@ClevelandMade216 I would look around your local area see if they something similar to the IEC, which is an independent contractor. @@1016valencia I honestly wouldn’t mind going to the trade school, I think they prioritize learning the Code book and how electrical works. But the hand on hand training is good too just depends on what works for you. Hope that helps..👍🏽
Yo this may seem like a retarded question, how has it been trying to get workouts in while being an electrician? I workout and am considering becoming one and one of my thoughts off the top of my head was wondering how drained I would be. Again, might sound like a retarded question but for people that enjoy working out, its not. I'm almost 32 years old and decently fit. I been trying to watch videos to see how physical this job actually is and if you can avoid fucking up your body long term, its legit the only concern I have.
@@kingdavid8178 How you doing Brother, I definitely understand the concern that was a concern I had myself when I started. I would say the job is physically demanding at times but one of the best things I feel like you can do is eat right and make time for your workouts whether it’s 30 min or a hour. For me I try to make time for my workouts the best I can, in the trade a lot of people aren’t going to be doing those things so try not fall into what everyone else is doing.. You Go This Brother!👍🏽
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman Well my issue is I am almost 32 years old. I make about $18 an hour but basically almost had a mid life crisis due to understanding I massively screwed up not having any clear direction in my life and thinking "oh I have so much time to figure this out". I came to the realization that so called "time" is going to fly by without taking action immediately. I tried to narrow down what I want to do with my life, right now I have it narrowed down between becoming an Electrician or doing something finance related. I looked at the trades and Electrician seems more interesting to me, and because I seem more interested in it, I would assume it would keep me more focused on studying things if I have some interest vs a trade I am not interested in. I've always been interested in finance things as well. Because of my age at 32 I am looking at it like the finance route may put me into debt, then I'll be paying debts off for years, as well as if I wanted to start a family that debt would make my life harder in the short term. The pro of it was it wouldn't be physical. Electrician I was looking into due to hearing I could possibly go through an apprenticeship with no debt or very little. I can earn money while learning it and maybe if I wanted to start a family I could do so sooner or in a better situation earlier then if I want the other route. The majority concern for me is basically the physical aspect wondering what will happen to my body over years if I go down this path. I lacked direction and decided to take action, I listed every possible work I ever thought of and as of right now it's basically coming down for me to go the electrician route or finance route. I honestly don't know what else to do with my life career/work wise so I think making a choice is better than making no choice, and I did put some thought into it, so it's not like a blind guess. I live in Pennsylvania and was going to try to go the Union route IBEW although I hear it's competitive, they aren't taking applications where I am at until January so I thought maybe I can use this time to study some of the math I need to relearn/learn. I am pretty solid on basic math, and a lot of the algebra, probably need to study some geometry and maybe basic electrical stuff idk. I have friends and family who want me to work with them, but they have jobs, not careers. I am looking for something I can make a good living to create the life I want. I know you get pay increases the further you are into an apprenticeship, so both this and finance was the only things that had a good paying future that seemed to make any sense for me. I found your video because I was trying to see what my life would kind of look like if I went down this path, of course I have those retarded doubts in my head but I just tell myself those are bullshit voices holding me back and making excuses for me not to try something new. I noticed you was in the gym in the video so because I always enjoy working out that's why I asked you that question. The only concern I had with being an electrician was wondering how bad my body will get jacked up, I don't smoke, don't drink alcohol, I could definitely watch how I am eating and staying hydrated like you said. The college route just seems like a bad deal for me at this point. The real pro to it was the fact later on I wouldn't have to do something physical. Thank you for your response and making the video because this is helpful for people in a similar situation as mine who are trying to decide what to do with their life. Good luck, and thanks.
@@MoneyMeris To be honest I’m not sure about using Algebra expressions, But math is definitely involved when using things like OHMs Law & Voltage drop calculations..
