I have dreamed about paleontology studies since my early childhood. It was couple of years ago, that I realized it is possible to study here, where I live... So now im taking steps to fulfill my dream as a 32 year old paleo-nerd, whose passion have never seized to exist. We dont actually have fossils in our ground, or atleast they are extremely rare... Most of the recearch is taking place in other countries in Europe and Africa.
I think Paleontology is the most useless study... Niggas getting their Ph.D in that weak sht. Like getting your Ph.D in Egyptology and you’re from the state. Niggas be on the History channel speaking about findings and only stepped foot in The Met museum in Manhattan, NY. or liberal arts with no attachment.. no math and science, or History just Liberal Arts.. I never got those garbage. At least English makes more sense but half these niggas don’t even know archaic language, or grammatical structure... why do English and only do modern? Why not Old? Some of these courses they offer students much more Ph.D’d in is to take money.... Shawty told me she’s going to get her masters degree in cosmetology... I was actually impressed. I’m thinking she’s going to be doing surgery, and probably even do some extra courses to become a plastic surgeon and crap.. Shawty said: nah, I’m more of an esthetician.... Meaning shawty going to school just to apply make up. These majors stupid asf! All these random ass, nonsensical degrees out here and niggas still don’t have one... Just get your bachelors in Liberal Arts (forget the attachment just get that sht) you’ll be respect for having a degree but not respected for the field but at the end of the day you have a degree! Or do something in video games... if yahl lazy. My friend got an associates degree and gets paid $50-70 an hr to test video games. He even does traveling and is about to start a RU-vid channel to increase the funds... YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A PLAN!!! Yahl just playing video games or making comments spending hours on the sht, not knowing you could become a professional commentator, making reviews on movies, software, programs Tv’s etc... and get paid to do so... Smh. Just plan!!! We got these 80 yo telling us what we like.... how th do you know? “I was young too”... sthu niggas playing cards without numbers times evolve bluh!
I'm thinking about double majoring in Paleontology and Anthropology, I'm just nervous that everything has already been discovered. And that, there will be nothing to do when I have completed college.
Go for it! If you're still looking for colleges, find one with a good geology program. You'll need a lot of knowledge about earth processes and rocks out in the field. Bio is good, too! As is physics and chemistry. You should definitely get a degree if you haven't already- your job opportunities will expand. It's a hard field to get into, but keep working for it! Good luck! - A Geology and Anthropology Student
@@syrvys2691 maybe because women are vastly outnumbered by men in scientific fields? it's normal for women to have other women as role models because we can relate to them more than we can to men, especially when we are the minority in a field. Doesn't mean the men in a field are valued any less.
I like people who do a good job... Doesn't matter what skin color, gender or creed. I don't shout out to random people I dont know and say they are my inspiration solely because I am speaking too broadly and could be speaking about people who are female but may be a great example of bad work ethics, lying or many other non-inspiring qualities. Therefore, I personally like to use specific examples of people in stead of generalities based on anything besides the quality I am speaking of.
I always had a bad outlook on school because of my ADHD that was never taken care of or realized when I was a child living at home. I am 19 and with a bleak outlook on school, was just introduced to proper medication for my ADHD due to my sister in laws help. I was able to focus for once in my life and it was freeing. So I made a 10 year plan. I’m gonna be going to college with goals of achieving my masters in Paleontology and possibly consider getting my PDH further down the line aswell. I’ve always loved the idea of studying prehistoric life but I was held back and due to never being able to focus on one task for more than 5 minutes. I’m so excited for my future and can’t wait to possibly meet some of the greats on my way up the chain. Thank you for taking the time to read, have a wonderful day. :)
checking this vid out as I'm currently doing a biology degree and torn between pursuing a doctorate in zoology or paleontology and want to know what i'm getting myself into. The fact that it's labour-intesive outdoor work as well as applied scientific knowledge and mathematics in a lab is kinda mindblowing, paleontologists definitely do not get the recognition they deserve.
My obsession with dinosaurs are really really high and I build draw and imagine and study about them everyday, I really want to find fossils and talk to people who really understand what I'm talking about.
Most paleontologists are stuck in a lab 98% of the time. Select few paleontologists are experts in the field although the weekend warriors claim they are experts.
I've always loved dinosaurs and so have my family and I have thought about paleontology and I think that's the perfect job for me! Looks like so so sooo much fun
I want to be a paleontologist mainly focused on dinosaurs but the bad thing is I live in ohio which isn't exactly known for its dinosaurs. I would need to move to South Dakota or Montana etc
Same. I'm in michigan so I have the same situation as you. I have an unhealthy obsession with dinosaurs and I know probably half of the ones discovered.
My son has been obsessed with dinosaurs and prehistoric animals since he was about 2 years old. In kindergarten they said it was a phase, he is now 8 years old and in grade 3 and the dream is still going strong. He has to go to the museum every year to look at the dinosaur exhibits. He watches as many documentaries as he possibly can and can identify and provide facts on hundreds of dinosaurs. He is borderline gifted and determined this is going to be his career path. Hopefully some day his dream will become reality.
I'm a 13 year old girl from New Zealand who absolutely loves dinosaurs. I'm obsessed with them and I want to be a paleontologist. I research about them alot and in the past year I learnt so much about them and won a silver for my science fair project about dinosaurs. Hopefully when I'm older I will be able to carry with my dream of being a paleontologist
The downside is that you will have to work very hard, for many years in school. The upside, is that you will have to work very hard, for many years in school. You have to love to learn and discover or you will burn out by your junior year of college. Take it one step at a time, alot of people get so focused on the end goal that all of the "busy" work you'll have to do in intro level courses seems boring and burns them out. Enjoy the moment, every class, every paper, every interaction.
+Kayley Russell Just remember that math is a learned skill just like a second language or anything. It's just like poetry or literature, if it was easy we all would be doing it. Keep it up.
Queen Shiro I applied to Carthage and got in, but it was a little pricey so I am going to another Private University for two years and hopefully transfering.
I want to be a paleontologist when I grow up. I have loved dinosaurs for so long and the job may be dirty and hard, but I believe in myself. If those guys can do it and are human, well I'm human to so I could do it. :) PALEONTOLOGY IS AWESOME!!
Some People i know say"why do you want Such a childish job like that, you barely get payed anything" I reply with, because i want to, its my dream and you cant ruin it. Paleontology is something i cant pass up
I’ve loved dinosaurs and wanted to be a paleontologist ever since I can remember. I remember getting TONS of books on it when I was young. But I also have questions. Do paleontologists travel a lot? I want a dog and also want a family.. would being a paleontologist fit my lifestyle or not?
I think it would, for a number if reasons: 1. Many people travel alot despite having families and make it work. 2. One excavation can be so delicate that it takes years to finish so it would be easy to relocate your family plus they wouldn't have to move more often than normal people. 3. Excavations are only a fraction of the work. You would study different bones and skeletons in museums and universities ( assuming they are close to where your family lives )so you wouldn't be away on excavations as much as you might think. 4. Even if you're away alot your children would be proud to have a palaeontologist as a parent. So if it's your dream then work hard for it and keep going! I'm also thinking about becoming a palaeontologist but there are so many doubts and obstacles in my way.
Very few people of inherently bad at math. You just gotta apply yourself! Work hard in class, get some extra help outside of class. Watch lots of math videos!
@@harrisoncoleman6306 you don't need to be massively good at maths, I checked a course and u only needed a CC in two A level subjects to get into this one university paelaeo course.
nah parents said i’d be wasting my time. tho imma go with geology any job that involves the earth and field is the best exploring is the best teacher and gives out more experience
I live in the CT, so are there any colleges nearby that can help me to become a paleontologist? By the way, exclude Yale, that is only for the most intelligent.
Definitely not! 7th grade is still young! Just do half an hour of extra math after school roughly 5 times a week and you will pick yourself up. Math isn't he only thing you need to be good at for palaeontology. Follow your dreams and you can achieve anything!
Hate Poachers Actually, you don't have to do a lot of math! Just Science and Geometry! Well.. We have to go through Collage for 3 or 8 Years, and maybe University. But It's worth it! If we become Paleontologist's I'd LOVE to work with you ^-^
Siri Smiles I myself also want to become a paleontologist but quite frankly paleontology is such an obscure profession I don't know where to start. i know Yale, and Harvard are big names but besides that the only other one I can think of is the University of Maryland.
i wanna become a paleontologist but im not sure where to go or when to go like i live in new zealand and im not sure that they have paleontology work over here so idk might have to get a plane over to america
Man i dont know what to do, I think paleontology is awesome but i also want to be a fish and game warden. Two totally different fields of work, its hard to chose
I want to study dinosaurs and animals, the only thing is I don’t want to dig up fossils, I want to study them and try and find out what their life was like/dinosaur evaluations. Any advice on what I could become?
when i was like 6 i would a;ways go straight for the dinosaur books and they were for fifth graders and i was in first but that didnt stop me cause i always finished reading them and got extra points in book club
I wanted to be a paleontologist at 7 when I watched jurassic park I fell in love with prehistoric animals I am from a Algeria so I don't think I have a chance for this job sadly
Hey I’d like to let you know that near the border of Algeria, in Morocco, there is a formation called the Kem Kem beds. Don’t know how close you live to Morocco, but it is an amazing formation. It has some of the biggest carnivorous dinosaurs in the world. See if you can contact anyone. Contacts are everything.
Mathematically the fossil record is about 1.5 miles(~8000 ft) thick over 4.3billion years old so that is probably around 1/50 of an inch of sediment per 1000 years. Can anyone explain why I am getting these numbers?
Paleontologists and geologist know about a few mass extinctions and possibly more than one flood. But they walk in the dark as long as they deny ancient texts, like the Mahabharata and Popol Vuh, that tell us that the Earth suffers from a cycle of seven natural disasters. Those disasters are causing massive floods, earthquakes, firestorms, and a bombing of meteors every few thousand years. These disasters create a cycle of civilizations. One of these civilizations lives more than 10,000 years and reaches a high level of knowledge and skills. If you don't know this cycle, history is incomprehensible. To learn much more about the cycle of civilizations, recurring floods, and ancient high technology, read the eBook: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". Search for: invisible nibiru 9
