@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Год назад
The Lt. asked Dispatch for the next available ER. Metro Denver hospitals have a web based system that lets Dispatch know when they're on divert, close to capacity etc. When several hospitals have that occurring at once the system goes to "load leveling" where non-emergent transports are evenly distributed to hospitals across the geographic area, rather than always transporting to the closest facility. The goal is evenly distribute patients as much as possible so more serious or critical ones can be taken to the closest hospitals without overwhelming them too much.

@@ftlnatp4924 if the weather is that harsh, why doesn't FDNY spec their engines with pump controls inside the cab (some northern FDs use them)?
@solarissv777
@solarissv777 Год назад
@@ftlnatp4924 sorry, it's the strange psychological effect that people are more likely to remember the last part of information they received. I saw FDNY, and my brain automatically excluded the "not" thing. Also I recalled my experience of being near 911 monument (the pools) in winter, it was miserable (cold + wind + high humidity), I genuinely felt for the police officers, that were patrolling there (they were wearing lots of warm clothes and still looked to be extremely cold), I believe a fire pump operator has a similar experience in winter. As for ability of FDNY to use enclosed pumper panel, I believe, it is possible if they would slightly step off traditions. Besides engineer comfort enclosed controls allow one more benefit - space for additional storage on the sides of the engine (no need for control panel on a pump house, so additional compartments can be added above the inlets/discharges). Basically put inlets/discharges behind rollup shutters and put removable shells above them. And here comes stepping off traditions: instead of using extremely deep hosebeds they could use German style hose carry racks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SnuIaJajTjc.html they seem to be great for highrise firefighting. As for the cab layout, they could use something like this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uf5dg-HrAls.html 2 man in front and 5 at the back. Of course there is also Rosenbauer RTX with space for 8, compact and extremely manurable, and with ability to control pump form the tablet, but 1.2 million is a steep price. Or maybe something based on Freightliner (Mercedes) Iconic, with the ability to have 4 people in the front row.

South Metro defines a "Tower" as an aerial with a platform and a "Ladder" as an aerial without a platform. Technically both are classified as quints since they have a water tank, pump, hose, ground ladders and an aerial ladder.
