I live in Minnesota. Ran into Buxton at my Target closest to my home, all I was doing was picking up a drink (mountain dew) dapped him up, took a picture, then he bought me my drink. Walked out together, awesome dude, awesome player
I really want to see this guy play a full season. In his last 3 seasons, including this one so far, he's played 142 games and has hit 47 homers in those games. That's absurd. Please stay healthy, Bux!!
Ever since the new management took over and he's been encouraged to become a power hitter, he's just been raking on a different level. His offensive numbers have jumped dramatically since 2019, and it really begs the question as to what he could have done if he hadn't been held back by Molitor allegedly trying to make him into a slap hitter. All's well that ends well though, I guess.
As a twins fan I’m just happy that he’s made it this far in the season. He’s made great plaYs already this season, like he always does but he’s starting to do that while being healthy. The walk off against Baltimore last night was awesome. Nick Gordon at first Byron Buxton 0-3 on the night and hits a walk off two run homer
@@marcjohn9404 All teams are trying to make all players power hitters. power develops with years and games and that seems to show through how power hitters develope.
Exactly they need to 30 of them 1 guy for every team, or they can do 60 2 guys per team, the best pitcher 1 video another the best player who isn’t a pitcher
Minnesota sports have: Buxton - Twins Jefferson - Vikings Kaprizov - Wild Edwards - Timberwolves Not a bad stable of YOUNG stars there. I'd like to hear of another 4 sport market that has better young stars than MN right now .
@@jackmundo4043 oh and Jose Ramirez is, as usual, playing at an mvp level. He leads the league in doubles and rbi and he's hitting .285 with a .366 obp and 13 steals with 17 homers. Paying to watch him makes perfect sense.
Never seen anybody do some of the things he does. He's not like any one player that you can just compare to, maybe because the game has changed so much over the years from when I was growing up watching it in the late 90s and early 2000s, but the man ranks very high in terms of the overall skill level and baseball IQ combined of anybody I've watched. If he stays healthy the Twins have invested very, very wisely, game for game there are few who are better than him so the more games the better. I feel blessed having him on the Twins, and I still remember to this day when we got him feeling excited because of all of the comparisons and what people were saying and to see it come to fruition now is awesome. We even got him paired up with Correa who got picked #1 in the same draft that year.
I love it when players make a home out of where they are drafted. I'm sure it would have been nice if he could play for the Braves organization, but signing a massive extension with MN, that wasn't the most money he could probably get on open market, tells me that he likes where he is, and that is appreciated by local fans, especially with guys chasing the money to LAD or NYY or NYM.
He gets injured putting the Twins on his back. The team's record is noticeably improved when he is in the lineup. You might need to investigate the meaning of the word "hype" because this isn't it.
@@benflikeid962 lol... when did this guy ever put the Twins on his back? In his only good season last year they went 73-89. This year he's hitting .208 and they are in 1st place. He's 1-4 with 3 strikeouts in his playoff career. And yes, Buxton is ALL hype. He's been a terrible hitter for 6 of his 8 seasons and in his only elite hitting season he played just 61 games.
As a Red Sox fan, MLB needs to pump the $#@ out of these ... Trust me, it'll get more fans ...I'm more of a fan of him now because of this .. You've got a Star Minnesota...Make him DH to stay healthy..lol
It’s so wonderful that he genuinely looks and acts like he’s having fun playing baseball. He never takes himself too seriously but when it’s go time it’s go time!
Been a great dude to watch over the years for the Twins organization, glad to see the staple hes become for us. Amazing energy and hope to see him healthy year round. Great team to watch this year.
It’s crazy Bryon played travel ball on our team and we played him my whole life and in high school and we beat this kid bad in high school shut him down but because he was fast and they seen the potential he made it to the show and is amazing now
This dude is the single most disappointing athlete in all of professional sports , and I don’t say that lightly as a fan of arsenal football club and my hometown wizards / nats + o’s / ravens / capitals … a couple of years ago I actually would have said that the most frustrating player in all of baseball was vladdy jr due to his tremendous talent essentially being wasted on account of his lackadaisical approach to conditioning , but in reality , when it comes to “ buck daddy “ , the fact that the sole factor responsible for this dude nearing the wrong side of 30 having never hit more than 28 homers in a season or even just making a single all star team is incredibly sad given that this guy would easily accumulate multiple top 5 in the mvp ballot - caliber years if he could ever just string together a couple of seasons with 130 games played …
@@robertfenton4629 and yet with all those "stars" the Twins have lost like 22 straight playoff games, the Vikings have won 2 playoff games since 2010, the Wild haven't made it out of round 1 of the playoffs since 2014-2015 and the T-Wolves have 2 winning seasons the last 17 years. So blessed 😆
@@taylormillion7244 The Twins win more when he is around, plain and simple. He plays elite defense and adds to it with crazy speed and plenty of power. Top 10 in homers, SLG, OPS, OPS+, extra base hits, AB/HR..... all on a bad knee. Arraez is leading the league in BA by a huge margin and no one cares!!
@@oscarg2692 he has a story of failing over and over and being rewarded with 10 lifetimes worth of wealth anyway. How can you relate to that? The guy got $100 million based off 70 career homers and a .245 avg while playing like 70 games per year across 7 seasons. He's the poster boy for privilege, undeserved praise and getting rewarded for being bad at your job. I'm not sure how you can relate to that, but you can feel however you want.
Man, as a writer, and a video game player, Buxton strikes me as the perfect personality to base a character around. He is also a great source of personal inspiration, too. I just hope that he can get, and stay healthy
What in the world has he done so far. Honestly his most hits in a season is 117… never hit 20 home runs, his ribbies are nowhere to be found. U really can’t give the guy credit for his ops bc he’s never on the field so like damn what is it
@@benflikeid962 have you checked his hitting stats this year??? Or pretty much any year besides 2021? Check him out this year... 260 at bats 54 hits (174th in mlb) .208 avg (144th in mlb) .286 obp (138th in mlb) 11 doubles (160th in mlb) 85 strikeouts (29th in mlb) 23 walks (126th in mlb) Sure, he has 23 homers. But he's one of the worst hitters in the league this year and he's been a terrible hitter for 6 of his 8 seasons.
@@jjm3762 it's not cheating to steal signs. It's 100% legal. They got in trouble for HOW they stole signs, which is meaningless. Whether you steal the sign with your eyes and give a hand signal to the batter or whether you steal the steal sign with a camera and bang on a trash can the result is the same... a stolen sign, which is 100% legal.
@@NeverKnow225 Nicholas stated a fact that Buxton is always hurt. You threw an ad hominem insult that contained no facts. It's weird you think you won that exchange.
Hit a ball? .208 avg Steal bases? 2 steals Draw walks? 23 walks (126th in mlb) Not strikeout? 85 ks (29th in mlb) Get on base? .286 obp (138th in mlb) Hit doubles? 11 doubles (160th in mlb)
Hahaha I’m a Twins fan and Buxton fan. He asked him is there anything that you can’t do on the field and he said he can do anything lol that’s a lie! He can’t stay from getting hurt! He is made of paper 🤦🏽♂️ has all the tools but tap him and he is hurt! It sucks cause now we have another in Lewis. 5 tool players that can easily be MVPs and help us win a championship but can’t stay on the field! They get hurt just taking a pee and sh$$$t 🤣 probably get hurt just for shaking your hand.
Lewis got hurt playing out of position in CF. The Twins need to quit playing young guys all over the place. Otherwise, this'll keep happening. Get well soon, Royce. You were rockin' it in The Show!
