Can someone tell this old retired rider why everyone has their seats up high again? Last time I was riding like a decade ago everyone had them slammed down and basically no seat posts. I keep noticing it in all the recent videos I watch.
Helps a lot for some things. If you pinch with your legs, from the cranks, to the seat, it helps stabilize the bike. Helps with hop barspins, but IMO also with steering in fakies and mannies✌
It's just a trend. It's not my thing personally. I know my seatpost will stay slammed as that's how I like it. You'll notice high seat plus huge baggy pants I feel like it's a kid doing the cheater pedal/crank arm whilst your rear peg drags 180 flat ledge clip. I guess since a lot of kids ride the chain guards and stuff they can ride in baggie pants annd and not stress getting them eaten up by the sprocket especially if doing gnarly stuff like Lewis Mills, he's the main reason I think most kids rock the high seat plus baggy pants.
@@Zemi.Andersen Yeah I remember that was the trend when I started in the mid 90's/early 2000's too. You could pinch it for no handers and bar spins etc. Then in like the 2010's when I started again people started doing hop-whips and it made whips easier to have no seat for sure and like turn downs and tabletops. I couldn't do any of those tricks with 5 inches of seat post in the way lol. Watched that recent Garret Reynolds vs Chad Kerley game of bike and it blew my mind they could whip over the tall seats like that.
