THANK YOU SIR, From 73- 81 my family went up to 1000 isles every summer with the grand parents.Watched the " biggies" as we called those ships go by.I served many many years on active duty and I cant count the number of times Ive dreamt of being back there. Those memories of 1000 isles go myself through many difficult months deployed. My Heaven when I die is to go to God and ask him to send me back to those summers for eternity with my family for whom so many are now gone.Sounds a little weird, I get understand BUT THOSE REMAIN THE BEST DAYS OF MY CHILDHOOD/ LIFE.Thank You Sir God Bless
Growing up summers on Calumet Island in Clayton I pretty much always saw the freighters from the side, unless I was up next to them in our runabout...now that we are tucked away in Carnegie Bay I can hear them but can't see them, again, unless we are out on the water. I love how you capture them up close and personal from all angles!
W00WH000 I love hearing these stories! This is exactly the reason I shot and posted these! The rest in the series is very similar but each has something different. Please share and subscribe if you haven't already! I don't see why our area has to be a "best kept secret".
It could be on any of the Great Lakes or further inland. Every time I see those ships with the blades on them it makes me think of an oversize trucking show I saw once. Very hard to transport things that large on the road.
My whole life I've wanted to capture the mystery, awe, and magic of the Thousand Islands region. I think I came close here even though it was only from the dock of the cottage. A DAY IN THE THOUSAND ISLANDS Part 1
