This reminds me of when i made a visit to my father's house exactly a year ago in Togo. Unfortunately he did not finish the house before he passed away in his late 20s having lived all his life in Ghana. I am now in my mid 30s and the only wish i have is to honour his memory by finishing the house. This vlog has stirred up memories and emotions. Thanks Anna.
The bible says that thy shall honour your parents so that your days will be long. You are a true African proud daughter. You are going and will go places for loving and honouring your parents. Love and best wishes all the way.
Never wallow in sadness. Keep your body’s electromagnetic frequency vibrating high, not low. We must celebrate life because the soul never dies, it only transitions to the next incarnation and opportunity to live, hopefully in a higher dimension than the last. Love and Light ❤️
Am so glad, proud, happy, and emotionally tearful for you made it for your grandmother. You are a DAUGHTER of the Homeland. Now I know which region of Togo you are from. You are the QUEEN.
Brilliant!! You don’t need a content creator: you did wonderful, your dad house is awesome, the house needs bits of paint and up dating, but no body living there so it doesn’t matter, waiting for the next video.
Big up to the Achampongs with their lovely YT lifestyle. Lovely home and lots and lots of love to our people in Lome. I tell you also our homes in Africa are so beautiful.
Anna you look just like your dad! I am so happy you got to attend your grandma's funeral, it was truly a pilgrimage for you. I know she is happy that you were able to attend. Your dad is in his own world and time is not a factor for him. Maybe that is God's way of saying, be in the moment and take a breather. I live in the United States and feel like I never have time for anything, there is always something to do or somewhere to go. Honestly, I could do the village life right now, even without our amenities we are so used to in the West. I love the simple life and the idea of doing nothing. Although, I may complain a bit in the beginning, I would learn to adapt like everyone else. God bless!
Honestly, this is why I like you. Never met you but you always seem so genuine. It's not about what's most comfortable or convenient to do but about honouring the memory of your grandma which itself is a blessing that will remain with you for life. May her soul rest in peace. I miss mine. I remember watching Wode Maya meet up with a Togolese lady in his Lome travel episode. She was absolutely lovely and full of life. You should locate her before you leave. Journey safely.
Pleased you made it to Togo🙏🏾. Thank God for that. May your beautiful grandma rest in perfect peace. Most of the footage reminded me of my visit to dad’s village ( dad being the chauffeur 😀) in the Eastern region also my grandma’s funeral at Volta region ( my maternal side). Same wake keeping with Agbadza dance all night😊. Mosquitoes were all over. In fact, we didn’t sleep till Saturday night after the burial. Our beautiful culture and tradition is admirable. Stay safe.
Wow your dad house is nice Just need a little updating thats all Lol i love the way you try to learn the Dance ..love your spirit You are becoming a true Traditional afican lady. Embrace it all in rememberence of your Gand ma
I admire for sharing your experience with us. As a Jamaican American I can see patters that remind me of my formative years. Slavery, tribalism and colonialism are mind killers. Love you my sister.
I really enjoyed watching this video I didn't know you have family in Togo.Next time you are planning to go to Togo hit me up.I will connect you with someone that can take you around but your dad did a great job as well. Thanks for showing us around.
Your melanin is popping so much in Togo. Pretty house, your Dad is so down to earth ooo. Da wey he go put dat luggage on that Mama's head was heartwarming. Lome must be hot, the fans n Daddy in towel says much about the temperature while we go freeze in Netherlands. Rest in power Grandma. She fought a good fight, finished the race & kept the faith -2nd Timothy 4:7. If you give birth again name the kid after her whether boy or gal.
The Togo streets dont appear to be as bad. Your dads house is very nice. The wake is different from U.S. It is not so somber with the drumming. It is a good send off for your Grandma !
Usually when old people die in Africa (more particularly the part of Nigeria where I come from) what is done is celebration of life, so it's usually not sober or sad, most times people don't even wear all black, they wear colour attires with the inscription "adieu papa or adieu mama" if the person is old and has grand kids or even great grand kids it's a celebration with food and music. Celebrating the fact the person lived long and saw his or her children and grandchildren. "Burial rice", (which is simply jollof rice prepared for the burial) is even a thing in Nigeria🤣
I love the way your grandma is at the forefront of what you are doing... You are doing your grand ma proud... May you grandma rest in peace and travel safely to the ancestors that are waiting 🙏🏾
Thank you for showing Lome. Please show more. This summer will be the first time in the city and I have been trying to see the city with no avail. I will be bringing 2 small children with me from the US. Please help put Lome and Togo on the map like you are doing for Ghana.
Great videos in Togo! These are among your best videos. I love them, they are so real! The border crossing was a little scary though. I'm glad all went well and you got to attend your grandma funerals. May she rest peace. I'm sure she is proud of you! Have you found Togo influencers or content creators to show you around? If you have not I will send you some links of 2 that recorded contents with Wode Maya in Togo; they speak english. You are from Togo too. Make yourself at home and come more often. You are our sister. We love you and the Acheampong family!
That's the reason I am teaching my kids French and creole because being living in the USA they automatically speak English. Thank you for sharing your trip and I hope you enjoy every moment with your dad..!
I'm definitely going to do what your Dad has done - in 8 years time! I have many times considered Togo and Republic of Benin but I don't speak French or the local lingo. I was born in Nigeria.
Hi Anna I’m so happy you managed to get to go to Togo for your grandmothers funeral. Your dad reminds me of my dad a big booming voice but a heart of gold. You should have brought a sleeping bag from the supermarket
Thanks for sharing!! Blessings, I enjoyed watching your travels. Your Papa, your family teaching you to dance traditional, with all the sounds percussions... lovely life!
You are very real and unassuming. Very nice of you for the commitment to your roots and the inconvenience of sleeping on the floor with the music noise etc.
I think your dad is well known in lome. His popularity might even be beyond lome.He might even be known in neighboring Benin republic.Thats why he has to stop and greet them.
You were so sweet and you were daddy’s little girl. I love your authenticity and just raw honesty. You reminded me of some of the wakes I attended that lasted all night full of music, dancing and drinking out in the country trying to find a spot to sleep. I feel you!
I’m so sorry for your loss, may you and your family have my extended prayers from the US. Thank you for taking us on this journey. BTW all fathers talk too much lol...at least mines does but I would not change a thing.
I'm taking my kids there this month. They'll know way more than what they have been fed on TV. #Real #life #experiences. Btw, you got a vip treatment at the village 😂😂😂
Hello Anna, first saw you being interviewed on Vanessa Kanbi's channel. I'm British, living in the UK and have Jamaican parents but we have links to Benin (over 40%. My older brother did a DNA test) I've never been to Ghana or any other African country actually but I have been to Amsterdam for a convention in the 90's and I loved it. But I would like to learn more about my ancestry... maybe one day 🙂
Amazing videos. Keep it up. I am from Togo but live in the in the USA and unfortunately the images portrayed in the media (crime, huts, wild animals...) do not reflect the multi facets of our home countries. Also I realized how little content there is on RU-vid when I tried to find good quality videos about Lomé, Accra to share with my coworker and friends. Most videos are from peace corps volunteers or tourists visiting villages which does not give a full picture of our countries.
Waooo waooo waooo your home in Togo is absolutely fantastic me loving it. This is the real African home. This is how we do it. This is what makes it genuine.
Your dance moves' are top... you def got the rythm, just need to pay attention to the drum talk'... May your Grandma rest in perfect peace. emotional when you are callin your dad " Papa with Dutch accent" Wezon lo.
Hi Anna, How are you doing? How's Togo 🇹🇬 treating you so far? How's your dad doing? I know Kevin, Sophie Jane and Micah miss you so much. Sending you lots of love ❤️ and can't wait for the next video 😊😊😊
Very bard to hear, but love to see different areas. I enjoyed seeing you with your family. Enjoy your dad and his conversation with him. Love the video.
