We board a fully loaded M.V. Coronia in Scarborough in July 1997 for a day trip along the coast to Whitby for time ashore. On the return journey - in rather more lively sea conditions - we see M.V Wilton inspecting the Bell Rock buoy off Whitby. As we approach Scarborough low cloud covers the top of

Thanks for sharing, very fond memories of the Coronia and Regal lady. I did the Scarborough to Whitby run in 2001 , it got very bad weather from Robin Hoods bay to Whitby . From Whitby back to Scarborough it was foggy and big waves , poor old Coronia got thrown side to side..loads of passengers lost their dinners over the side ! Not me , I loved it !. I have moved to Scarborough now and the Coronia is long gone and her sister ship the Regal lady is moored up as a cafe, not to be sailed as a pleasure cruiser again..... very sad . Most people who have been on these historic vessels will know that they saved over 3000 lives between them over 7 days continuous running back and forth to Dunkirk .

I think I was probably working as deckhand on that trip, we had plenty like it! Bless those ships, years of great memories.

Many thanks for the memories. It was a great shame that this trip had to be ended, by an EU directive, I believe. "Coronia" was originally "Yorkshire Lady" and was one of the "little ships" joining the evacuation at Dunkirk in 1940 where many British and French lives were saved. It's a beautifully shot and edited film (unless video quality was really that good in 1991) and thanks again for sharing.
