I have a feeling that Chang went in there to play mind games and he wanted Shelbys to crack under pressure. Even if it was to cost his life. Clearly he was in a bad situation, maybe he couldn't care anymore and just checked how far he can go and what strings he can pull, should they agree to the business and then of course, betray them. That's how I see this part of that hoe shooting to the ceiling.

Thommy shelbys character himself applies to the standard and its even better. your argument is basically "the setting was a 100 years ago so the characters are meant to act unnatural". I suggest rethinking before you reply. Is thomas shelbys character not aligning with a "contemporary atmosphere" along with others? Why does a villain/side character have to be some other way?
