This video covers Anesthesiologist Assistants' schooling cost from pre-requisites to starting a first job straight out of school. It also tips on debt repayment and compares the debt and compensation of other medical professions.
A little about me:
I am a NYC native who always had an interest in medicine and pharmacology. I was heavily considering medical school and specializing in anesthesia until I learned more about advance practice providers in anesthesia. I graduated with my masters of medical science in anesthesia in 2021 and have worked two jobs since then as a board certified anesthesiologist assistant. I hope to raise more awareness about this awesome profession through this content. Outside of anesthesia, I am passionate about financial literacy and independence. I also love traveling and have a love/hate relationship with the gym.

I’m from NYC, I started studying for the MCAT but I wanna go for the CAA route or PA. I wanted to know if New York, one day approved CAA to practice would you decide to moved back to NYC. I wanted to know how students that moved away from NYC, how they feel living another state.

I know of a few NYers that are in this profession. I accepted the possibility of not working in NY/NYC (although the working in the VA is possible) before entering this journey. It's a HUGE consideration. I'm happy and grateful I did this. I'm planning to cover this question more in the future!

Yeah dental school has crazy amount of debt, like 4-5k a month for 20 years. The only way to manage this is to go into the military or work in the middle of no where. That's why I'm considering anesthesia assistant.

It's literally called transitional employment and it's offered in the midwest. If you're in an AA program I'm sure you will eventually get an email about it. The anesthesiologist is also always at the AAAA conference recruiting people.

I haven't heard of anyone that graduated and started working having trouble with this repayment. A lot of people repay their loans over many years but I have heard of cases (and plan to be one of them) of people paying back their loans within two years.

Hi! I was curious because I have heard for CRNA school, they don't provide you with any type of housing like med school does, so you are obligated to have someone support you during those years studying. Is that the same case with CAA or are there dorms you can stay in like for medical school?

I don't think any of my med school friends had housing provided except for maybe those in Mount Sinai in NYC. I found an apartment and lived with one of my classmates. A lot of my classmates lived together.

Greater Washington Anesthesia Associates LLC will send your bills to a debt collector without ever contacting you. No phone calls or mail but debt collector. So dont go to work for those guys cuz they suck and they will probably lose your pay check.
