The entire history of that lake is interesting to me. I hope that I covered all of the bases during that intro. By far, though, the best place in the city to fish for those starting out, and those testing out new equipment. The place just has character.

In this case? Stock Ugly Stick 6'6" spinning combos. They can pull in just about anything with 20lb braid. I've put that theory to the test by hooking into several large tree trunks on the rivers. If you manage to break those rods, you were actively trying. They're also light enough to throw lures around all afternoon.
Rivers are good for catfish and walleye. The game commission will also be restocking most of the trout lakes in a few weeks. It's my favorite time of the year to fish for them too.
Just started fishing at this lake recently, I’ve only caught one bass but countless bluegill… I need some tips on how to catch more bass and catfish. Got any?
This time of the year gets tough. Despite the signs, people keep the larger catches. It'll be restocked, but not until next spring. In the meantime, the best spot for larger catches will be in the deeper parts of the lake. That will be from the fallen tree in the center of the lake all the way to the little brick pillar to the center right.
