There is another side-effect of the FTL Warp Drive - Travelling back in time. Alcubierre himself pointed that although there are ways to avoid it or even to isolate it so that you can build a time machine instead of a vehicle. Anyway, while the theory behind Warp Drive is better understood now, the most important obstacle is the required energy.

What size ship/coil/power reactor(s) are you envisioning for your ship? That would have to be one large coil and obviously large ship to generate/handle that kind of power/waste heat etc.
Yup, the biggest issue to overcome is the power requirements to either go as fast as light, or more likely, to rip a spot of time and come out back into the stream of time somewhere else. Though not the only issue, just one of the big ones.

To initiate the warp field the initial warp bubble must be created by an extremely high energy density. This can be done by focusing a laser through a nonlinear metamaterial crystal. The material choice depends on the frequency used, for example gold and silion dioxide will do for near IR and lower frequency visible. The array is made so the photons decouple the electric and magnetic vectors but add the energy of the electric to the magnetic creating an unusual particle with an effective velocity of C squared and a mass of a negitive value of the unit energy. If focused it will continue to infinity creating a mini warp bubble. Next the field generators resonate to this creating a much bigger bubble and giving it direction. Also it should have a stabilizer that prevents the destabilizing forces from acting on the craft. That's how fusion reactors are able to operate without destroying everything within a certain radius. We can contain or divert radiation in similar ways. Including just absorbing it with solid materials or metamaterials. There may be some advanced ways to maximize the cross section of a material for every type of radiation with the least amount of weight, but I don't know of any. Benefits of this would be shielding of lightweight spacecraft travelling at relatavistic speeds without needing inches of lead or depleted uranium. Either from the thrust production or from extra-solar intra-galactic radiation.
Lowering the mass of a craft while keeping propulsion constant sounds like a good idea; unfortunately, if the mass of the propellant is reduced together with the mass of the craft, you end up with a linear reduction of specific impulse. Note also that if it were possible to reduce mass locally, you could put a wheel of weights that passes through this mass reduction field on one side, and create a continuous motion machine, violating conservation.

In order to create a negative energy density to expand spacetime using an electromagnetic field, what would the magnetic field strength and frequency have to be in order to achieve this? We say mass warps spacetime, as in the "rubber sheet" 2D representations. What if spacetime avoids mass to create the warpage, a repellent effect we have not considered because the rubber sheet explains the concept conveniently?
Being in a strong gravitational field affects molecular and optical processes the same as traveling fast in a straight line with no gravity. It equivalently takes longer for our measurement of time to pass, in either situation (we, or anything, slows down). How do the strong force and electroweak force know where to send their virtual force carrier bosons, and why doesn't it have more energy or speed going in one direction than the other, I really have no idea. You find out, you let me know (our entire lifetime reality is based off of the dynamics of electron orbitals, how would we know).

1919 was 50 years before men landed on the Moon and yet commercial flight didn’t exist. I wonder how many people thought the same thing to the idea of men walking on the Moon in 50 years? The technological singularity is estimated to happen in half that time from today. Many unimaginable things will happen within 50 years. FTL travel without violating laws of physics (the only kind possible obviously) certainly seems unlikely within my lifetime, just like space travel did 100 years ago.

The key then, would be to cause the reaction mass to exit the warp field at the precise moment so that it takes on normal mass right at the moment of combustion, so it can generate real thrust. Expect tons and tons of stress on whichever part of the craft exists outside the warp field, as it will be subjected to all sorts of inertia/momentum forces. You will need some really really strong fasteners to connect that part to the rest of the craft. If you can do it all with some sort of magnetic non-substantial containment nozzle, then so much the better.

Not really it's based on the theory if Gravitons exist. The movment of momentum of electrons affect their relative mass which in turn affects Gravitons which can manipulate Spacetime. But you need a lot of energy just to have a macro effect with the electrons moving Gravitons.

If a warp coil assembly reduces the effective mass of the craft and through that, the effective mass of the propellant used in standard reaction engines, won't the propellant produce proportionally less thrust? Ie. effectively producing equivalent energy as it would in a non-warp enhanced assembly?
@@jimbintz2424 The energy content of the propellant wouldn't be effected but, to generate thrust, it has to push against propelent matter to toss it out the back and gain an equal but opposite force so... Maybe? The propelent would prob need to be accelerated outside the field to have a higher thrust to weight ratio.
@@asteronx why not explain it in simpler terms? Once an object is saturated with forward momentum and cannot hold any more, it ceases to accelerate. Once I postulated this, the rest of the calculations became easy to understand. In really simple terms, a pint cannot hold a quart, no matter how hard it tries.

Actually, very little. A field that can hold itself for a few microseconds could theoretically be fed a small amount of power to sustain a great level of energy.
There is no zero-point energy that's been discovered. The energy needed to warp space would require the energy of our sun...during it's entire life. Other than the fact that that none of this exists the video is perfect.
I know one thing regarding this topic. If we ever create a warp drive that takes us from point A to point B in normal spacetime faster than a light beam then all the relativistic equations that contain the speed of light (c) are wrong. This is because these relativistic equations need to use the fastest speed at which information can be transmitted. If a faster than light warp drive were possible, that would mean that you would be able to transmit information faster than light from point A to point B in regular spacetime. Now, you might say that in a warp drive faster than light speed is not achieved by moving through spacetime, but by having spacetime itself expand faster than light. But this does not remove the problem I explained. If you can be in a spacetime bubble that moves faster than light and then exit this bubble and reemerge into regular slower than light spacetime, you would be able to use this mechanism to transmit information faster than light from point A to point B in regular slower than light spacetime. Imagine point A and point B in regular slower than light spacetime and then putting a warp drive in between these two points. So as far as points A and B are concerned, they don't know about this faster than light warp drive between them. All point B knows is that it received information from point A faster than light. And once this happens then the thought experiments that Einstein used to arrive at the relativistic equations can no longer be correct since these thought experiments assume that point B in regular spacetime cannot receive information from point A in regular spacetime faster than light. The only way to circumvent this problem with a warp drive is by saying that a warp drive doesn't just alter the speed of space, it also alters the rate of time flow. So that when you leave point A and arrive at point B using a warp drive, it will be faster than light relative to your onboard time, but to observers outside your ship the time you took to arrive at point B would still be more than for a beam of light. So this means that the "twin paradox" happens with the Alcubierre drive just as it does for speeds in regular spacetime that are very close to the speed of light. So why bother creating an Alcubierre Drive? Why not just achieve speeds in regular spacetime that are very close to the speed of light? There would be one reason to prefer an Alcubierre Drive, and that is if the energies required to create an Alcubierre Drive are much lower than it would take to accelerate very close to the speed of light.
The energy is interacting with the environment outside of the ship. The ship is encapsulated in its own "bubble" of spacetime. Energy can be directed, magnetically confined, shielded from in many ways
Maybe once you read the NASA papers outlining the theory, and all the references, then maybe you can tell me how it won't spaghettify someone. Some numbers put the oscillation at a couple terahertz, which would generate light in the far infrared region unless all that warping does something funny to the fields. People talking about bubbles need to stop repeating information and figure out how to tell me the truth.

Warp drive or warp engine was a technology that allowed space travel at faster-than-light speeds. Hyperspace was achieved in the Philadelphia experiment. The goal was to hide a object in hyperspace using extremely strong tesla coils to generate a electromagnetic field so strong that it slips into hyperspace.

But that was 1943 if I remember correctly. Classified materials are reviewed every 25, 50, and 75 years and become declassified unless a decision is made against doing so. I suspect that entanglement of a mass-particle may make this much more efficient. It may even be that the coils ought to operate with or with the assistance of entangled protons. By entangling mass-particles we may be able to create a gravitic dipole. In fact, while fictitious, this is what I think the role of "dilithium" is in Star Trek. Just as we use special crystals today to entangle massless photons, there is some crystal that can do that for electrons or protons -- the latter of which having so much more mass and thus more likely to be productive in the way we need it to be. If this version of a warp coil could cause a "jump" into 5-D space, that could also open up the possibility of FTL communications. In star trek, the coils were also used in a way that did just that. But reality may be another matter.

a warp drive doesn't move through spacetime...it is moved by spacetime ITSELF. There is no need for braking, just turn off the warp drive. As stated in the video, such exotic matter has a repulsive effect, so debris and energy in the direction of travel is literally repelled out of the way. How much antimatter would that be? The only way you could make a warp drive work is by collecting the faster than light particles in front of the ship. This would also change space time and stop energy build up and use that energy. This would lower the energy needs of the drive. These particles could be change to anti matter than into warp matter or what we call dpositronum.
My biggest questions surrounding the Alcubierre Drive are these: If, as what has been explained previously, the drive contracts space ahead of an object and expands space behind said object, how does navigation work? Assuming you contract space between, say, Earth and Alpha Centauri, logic dictates you would also contract everything within that space as well. Let's say the Oort cloud, asteroid fields, etc. How would a ship be able to navigate such compressed terrain safely? Secondly, realizing that such speeds are relative and any ship using such technology never actually approaches or reaches (or breaks) C (the space around the object is moving while the object itself remains still) would T=t/sqrt 1-(v2/c2) even be a factor? Perhaps a twin on a ship with this device would only differ in age from other said twin based on gravity-based dilation, not speed-based?

All technological ideas begin with imagination. A detailed breakdown of an imaginary item is the starting point to manifesting said item. All technology and all so-called magic are a manifestation of focused intent. Or, as quantum physics suggests; our reality is collapsed from the quantum state by measuring or observation. When we observe a phenomenon, we collapse the quantum state into our experience of reality.
This isn't even a detailed breakdown though, it's a bunch of big words and handwavium, the Alcubierre drive is a cool idea BUT it is doubtful such a device is even physically possible, much less us being able to construct one in 50 years. Normally when dealing with the field equations of general relativity one starts with a certain distribution of matter/energy and then solves for how that will shape spacetime. What Dr. Alcubierre did was start with a shape of spacetime and worked backwards to find a distribution of matter/energy that could do that. Just because the maths allow it doesn't mean that the physical analog is possible. There is no solid evidence of negative matter/energy actually being a thing.
Very nice vid I have been thinking about how Alcubierre Warp Drives could be used to negate gravity for space craft for years now but haven't seen anything any where's talking about using the drives that way. I was wondering if it was just a silly idea I had while drawing some space craft in my sketchbook on the bus. I am really glad that other people have been thinking about this! Star trek talks about signatures these are like standing waves or probability waves or patterns . The thing that makes information unique it's signature. Star trek also says something like anti matter, matter exchange rate, that's convection. If positive ions are spread out and spinning in a direction away from center. To then what's left through polarization, is the opposite negative ions. That go in the other direction towards the center. That's convection and of endothermic and exothermic cycles. ➖ ➕ That's so much like a cloud 😀 woooooo. Like a cell like a cloud like the oceans like the flow of a solar system or a galaxy. Convection currents it is of life it self, it's the torus field which is a moving energetic wave. Thats propagating outward and inward at the same time within the same spaces. Light may be a particle and a wave at the same time. This perspective on the waves propagated of any signature properties. It has the same effect as light, all embodiments like life like of all the bodies of convection. Which is all organics or clouds or ocean convection so on. They all have this effect of a particle and a wave positive and negative. All embodiments exist in these states of lower and higher dimensions at the same time. Which make the toridal effect it self, the propagated wave and the embodiment. What ever this perspective is, something is their in this dynamic. As if each embodiment by it self and unique. which is apart from the infinite, it is still connected to all the possibilities of the infinite. *.* *.* *.* *.* *.* *.* *.* *.* What if their was a senser to sense these oscillating pattern dynamics of positive and negative signatures ???? This would give capabilities to us far greater then before.
I'm curious about something. Let's say i want to build a space craft with two rings of same size in a vertical configuration. Implying that the warp field is spherical, would the distance between the rings affect how the field behaves within the ship? (Sorry if i messed up on something. As you can figure english isn't my native language :p)
@@clementvining2487 Yes, there is solid evidence that there is a 5th dimension, already discovered several years ago and there is even a film dedicated to it that is AETHER, but this is outside the dotrina of the damn physicists. 1st dimension (earth), 2nd (water), 3rd (air), 4th (fire), 5th (Aether), these are the 5 dimensions that make up the Universe.

BULLETS CANNOT BE USED AGAINST A FIELD, COPPER EVEN. METAL IS DEFLECTED BY THE FIELD, NON METALLIC PROJECTILES WOULD WORK, I THINK.. I was hearing a guy say. you can take a microwave oven, plug it in, turn it on for 30 minutes. seal the plugs together and then throw it into a pool. The microwave energy forms a barrier around it's container keeping it dry. You will then pull out a completely dry microwave. This idea/theory should/could be used in smaller fashions to use on torpedo's etc. to create a well area of no friction. I seen a guy years ago that was making sparkplugs of sort that were frequency coils and they burned salt water. yep, I seen them burn like a small torch. Stan Deyo himself worked on craft underground in Australia, he has and knows some great ideas. Just copper plates shielded and an inverted coil powered by a small engine done right would cause antigravity but the large amount of electromagnetism would kill the occupants. That area would need shielded and cameras would have to be used to see outside the vehicle. One way frequency coils is the way. With new batteries due to hit some sectors. They utilize the depleted radioactive charge left in the graphite from nuclear reactors. Bundled up right, these batteries will hold power for 8 continuous years of application. Isn't the warp drive supposed to make a wave in spacetime to propell forward? How are you gonna get that by surrounding the ship in negative energy? If the coils are making the warp bubble, than what's actually gonna make the wave in spacetime? I'm confused
Remember this makes space into a conveyor belt that can move at any speed, so their is nothing being thrown back to push the craft forward, the craft is riding a space time wave. I'll have high hopes and one day make my own warp drive space company, or maybe 3.
Acceleration. I was under the impression that you're not really moving while at warp, and that it is space that is doing all the moving. And what about navigation? How do you direct it to a destination?
Within a smaller 7 metre craft, one coil will work just fine, that said, the actual coil will have nothing in common with the basic coil concept in the video, which was only meant to convey the general idea. The real-actual system, how it functions, is more complex still.
Warp drive is produced by manipulating exponential values. If we consider the ampere as the speed of light 2.99792458 x 10^8 m/s and the force or newtons as an ampere squared (A^2) at 8.987551787 x 10^16 m^2/s^2. We now equate the force to 89.87551787 x 10^15 m^2/s^2(8.98 x 10^16 = 89.8 x 10^15) the square root of the new quantization is 9.480269926 x 10^8 m/s. We are now travelling 3.16 times faster than the maximum speed of light. Granted this is math abuse, but it gives a general idea of what is taking place in this fictional phenomenon.

mass is a deceptive thing.... space being saturated with negative charges (the remainder after all things entropy), can be visualized as points of negative charge. particles/mass as we observe, is merely knots formed by the undulation/cavitation of said field of negatively charged points in space. What we see as positive masses are bubbles having greater volume than density of charges. what we see as negative particles are more solid or tightly wound knots... the threads of which are the paths and trajectories of the negative charges of space trying to return to a static position in the field. your warp coils work only because they are capable of creating a larger gap between the negative points in the field of space than can be refilled by the movement of the negative charges at ant given instant.... thus creating an effect similar to fluid or aerodynamics within the vacuum of space. i may not know the lingo, but i understand the functions (at least i think i do)
There is something I think I understand or maybe I don't. If the speed of a warp field (bubble) is propagated at the speed of light but the surrounding space around the bubble is moving also at the speed of light or higher then how can the bubble be created enough on time, to stop the front edge of the spacecraft moving closer and closer to the front edge of the bubble, since the creation of it also depends on the speed of electromagnetic propagation. Also if the space craft and its bubble was moving faster than light but bubble created at the speed of light would not at that or slightly higher velocity cause the bubble to momentarily slip behind the spacecraft and momentarily force it into normal space then the bubble vanishing and the spacecraft suddenly back at greatly under light speed, in normal space, so like an oscillating effect of over then under, light speed. As it dropped back to greatly under light speed, its bubble would be recreated around it and the same thing would repeat, theoretically.
You cannot warp space since space has no properties as Nikola Tesla said, you can however electrically produce compression and rarefaction in the ether aka the dark matter/energy, quantum foam/fluid, etc. if you figure out how to, allowing you to travel faster than light depending on electric power input. Ether is several thousand times denser than air and permeates all space as there is no such thing as empty space.
Oh I get it; the end of the video is trying to insinuate that there’s a reason we have traditionally seen triangular and disc shaped UFO anomalies throughout our history, and warp drive (that is based around this design of course) is the primary reason
When you travel faster than light time slows down... kinda like a model T and a dragster... same distance but with speed took less TIME to get from A to B... unless you warp Time and Space or compress whats in front of you and decompress behind you or form a WARP BUBBLE
