Especially since the Best Wrapper video ever was shot entirely in their house. The also built all the skeleton piles in Riot in their backyard. Lol. This song came out before Christmas. Tom usually releases an uplifting song at that time because so many people suffer during the holidays. I love this song- I’m sure I’m not the only one who wishes I could stop beating myself up for the dumb shit I did 20,30 and 40 years ago! Tom was damn near homeless and trying to get to work as a carpenter trying to catch a bus one day. It was raining and Tom tripped and fell. When he started to get up he looked up and there was a Lamborghini in a showcase and he felt like it was laughing at him. That was his dream car, but decided that was wasteful when he could afford one. Instead he retired his mom and told his sister to quit her job and come work for him. She’s a nurse and I think COVID was stressing her to the max. This song was released on Christmas, he has had more positive ones on Christmas the last few years. Stronger Version was this year, last year he released Ghost which is a love song for Nova, and I think it was Angels a year before that.
The first tattoo you read about on his stomach, "if you don't know where the fire started, you will surely burn in it..." is Tom's favorite tattoo. The daisy is a symbol of a couple of things. They can be referred to in symbolism as “Pushing Daisies”, something that Tom could have been doing if he hadn’t gotten sober & clean. Daisies also represent new beginnings or growth. In the bathroom, when Tom grabs his neck, there is a vine growing up his neck. He grabs at it and collapses. I really like the sound of this song. It's a wonderful video and has a beautiful message. For the past few years Tom has dropped an inspirational song around Christmas as his present to us. A couple of years ago it was Angels, last year it was Ghost, this year it's Stronger Version. He nails it every time. 💥 Tom is Canadian but has lived in Los Angeles for the past 11 years, 7 with his girlfriend, Nova Rockafeller, also a Canadian and an artist herself. She directs, shoots and edits all his videos. People call him a conscious rapper, but I don't think Tom likes to be labeled. He just pays attention to what's going on and points out the hypocrisy he sees, from both sides. He's a true artist, using his voice to get his message out. Being 💯 independent, he has the freedom to do that. He has no label, no manager, no distributor, no marketing team, he does everything himself from his house, including producing all his own beats, with Nova, his parents, his sister, her husband and a couple of friends as his whole team. Tom has no record label, he is totally independent. Nova Rockafeller ( stage name) is his girlfriend and rapper in her own right. She is his videographer, shoots and edits all his videos(except the early ones before Dear Rappers). They are a true power couple, love them both. Best Rapper Ever is like a mini movie, both song and video are outstanding . Can't say enough about this couple, couldn't be prouder of them if they were my own kids.
