If you go the decorative route, I have a page of tombstones (the DNF graveyard), portrait frames (for memorable characters), polaroid frames (with a scene to represent new series I start), passport stamps (for fictional places 'visited' that year), book awards (i.e. most lovable villain, most brutal death, easiest read, most shocking twist, best character arc), and a treasure map (with cover art symbols, i.e.e skull, wing, silhouette, water creature, door, etc). I also have a list of fictional swearing, which keeps me entertained. The more visual a spread the less I pay any attention to dots. Maybe worth a shot?
I love all these suggestions. My only thought process is if I have the time and energy to keep up with it? I guess I won't know until I try! I'll jot down these suggestions to look over when I get to picking the journal up again.
I received one of these journals as a gift and I was so sad when I opened it and saw the dot grids. It's such a shame since the covers are stunning!! I hope they listen to our feedback and change their papers.
It's really disappointing, isn't it? I am in love with that cover, but I cannot think of how I'm going to use this journal well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, we're not alone! I know a few people have equally disliked the paper. I hope it is rectified for future buyers.
Wow - that is a beautiful book but I agree - the dots are a bit too obvious! I think a decorative journal sounds good - cover up most of the dots. Thanks for sharing!
