I have read this series in book form. The story is really good and the magic system is based in historical fact so it is both original and interesting. My one suggestion to Witch Way on this video and others is to dwell deeper into how magic in the universe works vs a general plot summary. I think because there are so many different ways magik is shown.

I so love fantasy and supernatural stuff and one thing that always gets me are the rules and how the magical systems work. That is something that I think would bring a lot more people to your channel like myself.

Having read the series I can say that magic is different for each family and within each family. Every individual family has their own grimoire or spell book with spells made specifically for them. (Think family recipe book from great grandma) Everybody and anyone can make apple pie...but no all recipes and ingridents are the same. Spells are mutterings of words. The author of the book was VERY specific not to say what language or actual spell for the reader to interpret. The witches however are governed by a coven whom they have to answer to. It can be both community and social I.e kids events. Or police bad behavior or misuse of coven secrets and spells. Last is that magic is broken down into elements. Earth, air, water, and fire. All witches are at least 1, some 2. Diana is a weaver who can do all 4 and make new spells. Also something called a time walker like her father

I loved the detail the author went into for this series and would have loved to see more of the cookbook in the series with all the additions of the Bishop witches. Witches weren't just becoming less powerful, their family spells stopped working. I touched a bit more on weavers in my season 2-3 review as I didn't want too many spoilers, thank you for going into more detail of the magical lore of the All Souls universe!

I can appreciate not wanting to give away spoilers LOL I feel I am in a weird predicament LOL seeing that I have read the series. But I am unable to watch the season 2 and 3 of the TV show lol so I know what's going to happen but yet I don't know what's going to happen LMAO

It's been a couple of years since I read the series and I can't remember why it was that the family magic stopped working over the years. Also do you recall what the deal was with demons. They were like the subclass of the vampires and witches but did not have any other supernatural abilities

I liked the show as a fantasy show but I liked the books better. They just missed so much out of the show and changed or added things. The who story line of Marcus not being able to sire made ABSOLUTELY no sense once you find out he has already sired a load of vampires. they could have added more from the actual books if they tv show hadn’t made up so much. Also what was the point in going to Matthews house at all in s1 if they were never going to go back to it - for yoga or in season 2.

I've not read the books but I've recently watched series 1 and 2, and I enjoyed it but it was all a bit meh for me. I think it was too slow for me in a lot of places, but at the same time didn't go deep enough in others. It took me a few tries to watch series 1, and the only reason I stuck with it was because I was excited by the trailers for series 2. I wish it had more witchy stuff, and more vampire stuff, and less of the Twilightesque lingering looks and hushed conversations. I just didn't believe their relationship or their attraction. It could have been way sexier.

Oh in the books it is for sure waaaay sexier! TV adaptations always loose the subtlety and character growth of the story.

Witch Way yes, series two was so much witchier, but I almost wanted to ditch the other storylines and see her develop that side. It felt like the producers wanted it to be popular and gave it a mega twilight feel, which is what I didn't like. I'll possibly pick the books up at some point because I feel I'd enjoy them more, but once the spoilers have popped out of my head from watching! I agree on the book usually being better...except with Practical Magic. That film elevates the book so much!

Same! Practical Magic is the only movie I’ve thought that the movie was better! I wish I’d watched the series first and then read the books, it’s always better that way so you can enjoy them both.

Curious, how abrahamic do they get with the series? That was something that really turned me off about later Charmed and its reboot.

Without giving too much away the vampire Matthew is Catholic and we do meet a Rabbi, but both of these are brought into the story referring to their persecution. There is also a baptism at one point, though these are all underlying themes. The focus is on Diana's relationship and the world of vampires, witches and (to a lesser extent) daemons. There is no simple good vs evil, so I quite enjoyed the series.
