Goodby Gorby, a wise and compassionate man, who saved millions of lives! R.I.P., A humanist and a hero! If I could, I would make such people as Gorby live for centuries.

Gorby should have moved to the US or maybe Switzerland or Finland after his term. His own nation wasn't ready for a man of his vision and idealism. All the stupid and trashy people that blame him for the 1990s should blame themselves for not continuing his vision. It is Putin's opposition, the daring few who keep the promise of Russian democracy alive in protests that are the true future of Russia. May Gorbechev's vision live on in them.

after he failed to sell his mother land, he moved to the US, work as a professor( baby siter), 20,000$ a month, and later become a US citizen. he is the most loser of all times in the history of the world's leaders.

@@netizencapet I'm not saying he was. I'm just saying it's mostly people who did not live in USSR/Russia during his time who raise him the the skies about how good he was. Ask the common Russian and you will have a whole other opinion. There are even many western people who say that Russia was exploited by the west after USSR collapse and that Gorby did not do much about it. Putin on the other hand got their economy better. That is the main reason why people like him.

Sri Chinmoy, President Gorbachev's dear "brother-friend" wrote many lofty books about his dear friend. Here are a few quotes: "God's Hands smilingly and proudly are shaping the world through the hands of His beloved son, Mikhail Gorbachev". "President Gorbachev: A man in a million, a heart in a billion, a soul in a TRILLION," "En route to humanity's heart-home he surmounted unsurmountable obstacles." "The test of this earth-planet is to realise who truly President Gorbachev is." "No man of integrity will dare to devalue him - his world-improvement-contributions."

For eternity and memories of these wonderful and unique moments of fruitful, glorious history, sincerity and sincerity of intention for understanding and agreement between human beings outside of any geographical affiliation, language, culture, race, color, politics, economy and religion, different right or wrong. Finally, friendship, closeness, peace, security, mutual respect, help, cooperation and assistance to advance and exalt the existing world for humanity and the world community with love and friendship, good thoughts and good words and your good behavior will be an eternal memory. And the pattern will remain. Thank you so much for your efforts, Mr. Gorbachev and Mr. Reagan, in removing the wall. And unfortunately, the creatures of all wild animals sowed the seeds of force, oppression, hatred, hypocrisy, enmity, conspiracy, revenge, madness, rape, murder, fuel, destruction and displacement, destruction with your enemies and us ان enemies of humanity at this time in the history of leaders Most of the dictators are fascists, vampires like Assad, Syria, Putin, Russia, Erdogan, Turkey, Lukasinko, Bella Rus, Jinping, north Corian, Khamenei, Iran, and ... He’s such an interesting person. A lot of people, especially here in the west, talk about him as if he was this great, heroic, moral person. However, I can’t really fully embrace that. You didn’t rise to the top of the Soviet hierarchy that way. I think in truth, he was probably as cold & calculating as the rest, but he was also pragmatic, highly intelligent, & adaptable, rather than blinded by ideology, and he had the overall vision to see the writing on the wall. Likewise, I think that’s why he was the perfect man for the job, he had all the qualities required of someone needed to either reform, or else end the Soviet system, but also all the qualities required of someone to control that system.

I used to admire Gorbachev but he appears to have been extraordinarily naive and lacking in assertiveness allowing Yeltsin to remain after Yeltsin bullied and disrespected him and ultimately undermined everything he tried to do. He seemed so scared of triggering a civil war that he gave people everythng they wanted even though in reality he had considerable power. The US and Germany played much smarter in the negotiations allowing German reunification and NATO to expand by Gorbachev failing to be more open with the Russians about what he was agreeing to with the west and not getting written guarantees from the west. Subsequent leaders Yeltsin and Putin have been corrupt and lacking in the ability to be appropriately assertive allowing the country to descend into the extremes of capitalism and autocracy . The west approved of Gorbachev because he gave the them everything they wanted. Gorbachev didn't really surround himself with strong principled people , failed to delegate and appeared susceptible to flattery and of being a historic figure" who brought freedom to Russia'. It still amazes that Gorbachev was not properly interviewed by a capable and major journalist. It also amazes me that Yeltsin did not use Gorbachev to support his views re NATO expansion given that Gorbachev was closely involved in discussions involving the future of NATO
