Feel for you - nothing worse than seeing all your hard work wasted😢 keep positive you have a beautiful life.

I'm sure you/ve considered many options, but why not leave the structure, put a simple roof on it and have the use of it for a few years? And shore it up as it starts to sag. Maybe not perfect, but do you need it to be? You've put so much hard work into it so far, I hope you can salvage the outdoor kitchen.

@susanlauchlan3539. I agree with your suggestions. It is crazy to take it down. No one can tell how long this structure can last with a light load.

How about making the area (temporarily) into a shade area, with shade clothes? You could test it from time to time, to see if it’s strong enough to stay upright. When it becomes dodgy, take it down. Shady areas are always welcome. Your property is just so incredibly beautiful. An amassing walk. You must feel so blessed, though sometimes overwhelmed by its vast size. Keep your chin up, Luke, and Sarah. Sending lots of love to you and all the adorable creatures. 😄

How about adding more posts/tree trunks taken from your land - to support those crumb bum beams for a couple/few years? Admittedly rot in the centers is not exactly comforting :(. Sending all sympathy! ❤😊

We learn from our mistakes and more forward. In a way, this will focus you on the ruin which is more important to complete for your futures. The skills and knowledge you gained in the kitchen build stay with you. It was not a total waste of material and time because of the knowledge you have gained. I think the suggestion to build stone columns is good. They last far longer than a soft wood like pine. And, you get to use the skills you gained from helping build the wall.

Its a set back, but you have lots of stone around, collect as you build, its sand and cement and laying, use scaffold poles as a centre support to wire to and build with cement or even lime, you may even be able to salvage some wood to use in the roof, half a pillar a day and it will soon be done, good luck, stone you need is fist to 2fist size

Luke you built the most beautiful pig houses i have ever seen in my life !!! So i am sure that you can work with what you have 👍 there is a product we have here that you can paint on and it turns soft wood into hard wood or even tar it with this stuff called 'Henry's' its like black tar that dries as hard as rock ! At this point just draw upon your genious , you ve got this !!!

Oh guys, I'm so sorry my heart absolutely broke about the outdoor kitchen, but I know it's nothing you won't bounce back from ❤ I know when you return to the project it will be absolutely amazing, Luke you should still be so proud of what you built, that is amazing craftsmanship! I for one cannot wait for the ruin to be started, the gypsy caravan blew me away so I can't wait to see the ruin start to take shape 😁 Sarah the garden is so beautiful, looks so full of life 🥰 must feel such a sense of achievement when you see all your hard work start to pay off! The walk was absolutely stunning, how beautiful would it be to live by the river in that little ruin, it certainly makes you wonder how it used to be. I just love the view from your future home. Thank you for sharing, still a beautiful video despite the discovery. Take care ❤

Life always deals us challenges which sometimes cause us to reflect rebuild or start over…I have chickens and have lost a few to predators and each time it’s a pivot and often spending more money( eg electric mesh fence) and I’ve cried and thought about quitting but we are resilient. Sooo the outdoor kitchen may be a no go( as others suggested maybe shore up a bit and add shade cloth) and I think you’re right to “let it go” and focus on your dream. You’ve done so much and have a beautiful homestead , lovely animals , lots of food and a deep love for each other…lots of positives! All the best from Canada!🇨🇦

Life is indeed a journey. Progress and positive outcomes are wonderful. But so are setbacks. They give us pause to reflect, analyze, grow in wisdom and formulate even better plans for moving forward. The outdoor kitchen is not a failure, it has been a life experience, in so many ways, and a great opportunity for learning that will continue to serve you well. Douglas fir is a lot harder and longer lasting than pine. I understand if you can't afford though..you will find a new plan I'm sure.

Hi, Damm!! Well.... what if you concreted steel posts to replace the poles? Keep the roof in a light weight cover. And continue? It is a set back. But all is not lost. Just slightly different. Perhaps??

I feel so bad for Luke (😎). I wish I had the funds so you could get more wood! I'm sure it still feels like a gut punch!😢😢 Well, I'll leave this on a positive note bc I'm just repeating myself from earlier! It's always beautiful taking a walk on your land, imagining where my rock room is going to be in the secret garden (over grown, no big deal) by the creek! Oh the dreams I have for big sunflowers and purple butterfly bushes like I have here! Just a nice tranquil place. And of course helping Y'all on you little piece of heaven in your stone ruin!! I hope this made you laugh! Boy, did I get further into that dream!! ❤❤😎🤗🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣☘🍍🌻🌻🌻

Sorry to see you so upset Luke but I don't see it as wasted as you are daring to do what most would not and you have made a beautiful structure. I would also treat it a bit, put a lighter roof on it and use it for a couple of years. Nothing we do is wasted as we learn from everything, even if sometimes the lessons are hard. You are an inspiration to so many so I hope you feel better soon 😊

We might do that.. I already do feel much better .. I try not to dwell on the past but hopefully learn a lesson or to from it 😀

Hi,my name is peter from Australia.with your question about olives. You will need about 12 kilos of olives to make 1 litre of oil. Each of your trees should produce around 20 kilos of olives so you should end up with 100 litres of oil.

Why don’t you just put a light weight wood roof and put a trap on it like a yhort roof

You have 38,000 people following. If even 10% can give just a dollar, you could buy the wood and build us all that beautiful kitchen. We would certainly get great video footage to watch. Way more fun than tv.

So unfortunate that when you had finally been able to get started on this project and get to this point and then find out the logs are rotting keep your chin up things have a way of working out.
