BANANA FIBRE WORK (1988)
The use of banana stems as a source of fibre declined after other convenient fibres such as cotton and silk became popular. But in recent years the commercial value of banana fibre has increased and it is used all over the world for multiple uses. Banana fibre is also known as musa fibre, it is one of the strongest natural fibres. This biodegradable natural fibre from the bark of the banana plant is very durable. There are both coloured and non coloured banana fibres available in the market, wide range of products can made with banana fibres with variety of colour combinations. Some of the products are Door mats, Mats, Dolls , Wall hangings , Jewellery boxes, Purses ,Bags of different sizes ,Bowls , Coasters ,Pouches ,Folders ,Table mats ,Mobile covers etc.
This video documentary film showcases the process of making beautiful items with banana fibres like Dolls, Coasters of different patterns in a very lucid manner.
