A Dream Smallmouth Trip on Lake St. Clair Turned Into a Largemouth Slugfest (Angry Landowner!)

@@thecreekcrawler First, that homeowner guy is an idiot and you absolutely had every legal right to be fishing where and how you were! There is NO law in Michigan on a PUBLIC water that has any land owner property right extend at all into the water. NO "80 foot rule or any such nonsense. Indeed, you would have been entirely within your rights to call the MI. DNR and file an angler harassment complaint, which we have a robust law for here in Michigan. Now, JUST for education purposes technically, LSC is not a great lake by the state of Michigan, so the public easement law referenced above MAY not apply(I'm honestly NOT certain one way or the other on that!) Also, the easement is specific to LAND access for a fairly limited use ranged(specifically, beach walking), and is limited by law to the area between the water and the high water mark(wave erosion area) if it exists. In this case had you wanted to use this law to access that guys land, it would not have applied even if it's in effect on LSC(again, I'm unsure on that) as the seawall places his actual land above the high water/beach zone.s land and thus outside of the public easement. That also applies on the great lakes proper if a property owner has installed a seawall, you cannot go above it onto land that's not eroded and above the high water mark.

Everyone I met up there was pretty cool except for this dude. I really enjoyed my time and felt kinda sorry for the dude at the end of the day.
