Iam at Clark today....march 16 2019....I can feel the souls of our brothers and sisters who served here....still today. I highly recommend flying into Clark and the wonderful people of northern phillipines

I just watched this again - a great record. Living in Hong Kong as I did, Angeles was a great R n R place. I was there in the times before (1985) and soon after the NPA hits and felt a little uneasy walking around as a short haired white guy. I have lived there full time since 2002. It is a great place.
Thank you for your service in the U.S. Air Force sir! When you plan to revisit Clark you could fly Ana airlines to Clark international airport. And make reservations at a hotel including that have a shuttle service.
In 1989, as a US Army Specialist out of Ft. Huachuca AZ, I was passing thru Clark Air Force Base flying Military Space - A, on "Adventure" leave headed to a AFB Base in Thailand, but with no flights out I stayed for a couple of weeks. Now on the first night I stopped at the Top Hat NCO Club for a beer to get some info what kind of night life was in the city. After some conversation with an Air Force Crew Chief who was headed downtown also said he would show me around the clubs downtown and having a local expert with me I thought was a good idea. As we are at a club somewhere downtown I am sitting at table with some heavy hitters. The chief, to the left of me, to the right of me a very large and drunk Rambo fellow in jungle fatigues, and cross from me a large happy Philippino fellow in a yellow smock who seemed to be the local celebrity. They all start banging their empty bottles of San Miguel beer on the table while chanting "Nipa Hut, Nipa Hut". I really had no idea what Nipa Hut was, and not really knowing where I was in the city I went with the flow. The fellow in the yellow smock had two CJ-5 Jeeps out back and we piled in, girls and all. As we are driving thru the city I am trying to gain my bearings as to any landmarks but at night all back streets look the same. We get to this Nipa Hut and enter thru the Zoo entrance. We get stopped at the entrance by some Philippino fellows at the doors and they are giving this fellow in the yellow smock a hard time about getting in, so it came down to him having to leave his two hand guns and grenade that he had under his smock with the doormen and then we all were allowed to enter. Come to find out the Nipa Hut was a show club that was run by a former US Air Force Member and this fellow in the yellow smock was head of all the armed security forces that stood outside every bar or club in the city, a Colonel Meehan. So I felt maybe someone had my back? The rest is history.
I’m glad people videotaped Clark and the surrounding area like I did in 88’ or 89’.! Going back to retire next year, things have sure changed from the simple but dangerous days at Clark & Angeles City! Someday I’ll get my old video uploaded on RU-vid..! Love this

i miss Baranggay Balibago Angeles City.. my Birthplace.. i work at Fields Ave. Security Bar i still remember the name of the Bar. Heartbreak Hotel own by American Mr. Marppy..
Thanks for the upload. Although this was about 15 years after my tour there, still some places I recognize. I'm glad I took many photos, and still have them. As all things, it has changed a great deal. Balibago, Mabalacat, and Dau were a still a bit cruder in my day, Fields Ave. was not paved yet, but my time spent there remains a highlight of my life, without a doubt.
Was there 84-86..had to guard Marcos when he got ousted..AWESOME memories....can't believe nobody has mentioned "The Nipa Hut".....yeah...I said it....lol....thanks for the video..GREAT JOB...you sent me down memory lane...
I spent many a time driving down FIelds Ave as a member of Town Patrol with the 3rd LES in 87-88. Thanks for the memories! Wow, can that be over 30 years ago?!

There used to be a place down in there somewhere, where there was a girl who was famous for being able to launch a boiled egg across the room (from her p$##y) like a field mortar. Mind you I never went there myself, but lots of guys in my office would always talk and laugh at that performance. If I would have ever been invited along, I would have gone at least once....I mean, launching a boiled egg across the room has gotta be classified as some form of amazing talent!!! Regardless of your personal morals. There was other performances that I heard about, like "eating" a bananna, filling 'it' up with various coins...and she could/would deliver correct change to you..... Again....be it nasty or disgusting or (w)horrible....talent is talent!
Showboat used to have rats the size of a small cat just walking on the back ledge where all the liquor bottles were and the girl would just casually brush them off onto the floor with the back of her hand it was freaking weird thing to see
even im just a kid back then. this video is great seeing like that because i just live near clark. now too many has change when these korean and chinese enter clark. too many hotel etc. its not like before i was so amaze when i see clark. but now i only see hotels where they destroy the view of clark. too sad :(

Woah, I was there at the same time. Did you guys work for Col. Inglesby? They were very good friends of ours. We would spend holidays with them at Baguio and other locations. I worked in the building just north from main gate. Come in main gate, immediately turn right (north) and about a half mile up that perimeter road. I was also OIC of our HF transmitter site up near the practice range at Crow Valley. Family and I lived up by FEN hill on Johnson Ave. I miss those days sooooooo dang much! We cried tears when we PCS’d out on ‘89. I almost don’t want to ever go back to visit…..I’m afraid it will ruin all my memories of those years we lived there. Yes, I remember the guys killed on their way to the shooting range, and the resulting base lockdown. Cheers!
I was born in 1992, i still recognized some of the bldgs and the salakot as well, it's nostalgic seeing such as old stuff like this, i still do remember the sound and the feeling when I'm strolling on the streets. Now im 28 and still looking for retro vids like this. Thanks for d memories..

Can I please tell more about the Japanese soldiers who remained in the P. I. After we 2, originally there were 3 holdouts, one was killed by Filipinos for raiding they're farms I think,the second surrendered around the late sixties or early seventies and finally in 1975 the last guy surrendered. I never been to Clark when i vacation in the Philippines but visit Subic bay a few times maybe i will visit Clark when i plan to vacation in the Philippines my last vacation in the Philippines was summer of 2009.

I do have in-laws that live in Villa Sol subdivision and I see all that's been done there. I also follow Facebook pages that are Clark related or 3rd SPG related. And thank you for the thanking me for my service. It was an honor to serve my country.

The government of Pampanga should've checked out those businesses who runs by the Korean or Japanese if they have work permit. If they don't have work permit they deported them back and shut down the business.

@@co2randy Hello co2randy. I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that I was critical of your efforts. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Any reminiscence about my time in the Philippines is heart-warming, for I have never been around a nicer, more hospitable people than Filipinos. And the best proof of this is your responding in an even-tempered manner. Here is my problem. I will be seventy-five years old this month(did I really say that?) and I do stand by what I said about young people not having a sense of history. I allow that all young people are not the same, but the problem is like an epidemic. Too many young people today think that the world began with them. Many are totally ignorant of antecedents. They don't know that life is a continuum, like an unending conveyor belt, and where they get on is not where the belt began. I had to get that out. I was at Clark for parts of 1961 and 1962. I worked at Clark Hospital in the medical records department. When people talk about the 'old' hospital, I can't quite understand what they mean. When I arrived at Clark, the hospital was World War 2 buildings interconnected by a covered walkway. When I left Clark in September, 1962, a new hospital was nearing completion. So again, what is meant by the term 'old' hospital. Does this refer to the one completed in 1962 or 1963? I am in the process of writing a novel about my time there, and I would greatly appreciate if you could give me some leads on how to get information that would aid my research of that time. Things like the Angeles, Pampanga local newspaper or anything else that brings back that time for me. Maraming salamat for the driving tour! Keep up the good work
@@co2randy I'm sorry for the kind of comment I made. It's just that I'm frustrated with the inability to get the information that I need for the book I am writing. I arrived at Clark AFB in November, 1961. I worked at Clark Hospital, which was then a series of huts connected by a covered walkway. I left Clark in September, 1962, and a new hospital was under construction. So when people say the"new" hospital at Clark, are they talking about the one completed in 1963 or a subsequent one? One day, hopefully soon, I will pay a visit to the Philippines and retrace some of the steps I took as a teenager. And be reminded of the time I spent around some of the most wonderful people I have ever known.
