In this 5-part series of videos, what I might normally call an 'odyssey', I present scenery from my 2-day drive on highways in the north-Colorado section of the Rocky Mountains on September 23 & 24, 2023.
First, I drove westbound on interstate highway 70 (I-70) from Denver to view some of the Grand Mesa area near the town of Palisade (just east of Grand Junction), passing through the spectacular Glenwood Canyon en route. Then I drove back eastbound on I-70, once again passing through Glenwood Canyon, as far as Silverthorne, then north on Colorado state highway 9 to Kremmling. From there, I drive eastbound on US highway 40, passing through scenic Byers Canyon, and on through Rocky Mountain National Park on US highway 34. I stayed overnight at Estes Park, then continued the second day on highway 34 through Bog Thompson Canyon, ending in the city of Loveland.
- Part 1 is westbound on I-70 from Colorado highway 470 to the est end of Glenwood Canyon.
- Part 2 is westbound on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon, continuing west to the Grand Mesa area near Palisade.
- Part 3 is back eastbound on I-70 (through Glenwood Canyon again) to Silverthorne, north on state highway 9 to Kremmling, then east on US 40 to the southwest entrance of the national park near Granby.
- Part 4 is US 34 through Rocky Mountain National Park to my hotel in the town of Estes Park.
- Part 5 is eastbound on US 34 from Estes Park to the conclusion of the drive in Loveland.
Keywords: Interstate 70, I-70, Grand Army of the Republic Highway, Idaho Springs, Silverthorne, Colorado, Vail, Avon, Gypsum, Glenwood Canyon, Glenwood Springs, Silt, Rifle, Parachute, Palisade, Grand Mesa, Beavertail Mountain, Colorado 9, Kremmling, US highway 34, Byers Canyon, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park

Hello again, Paul, the pull-out at the 57-minute point in your video looks like where the rangers had closed the road because of snow. We were going the opposite direction from you & ultimately heading west on I-70 to CA. Now I know what we missed (a lot of scary driving with no guardrails- yikes!!). Thanks again, for your videos. Paul, I am so happy you are out there loving life and enjoying retirement, your videos are what I hope to do someday. Everything from setting up your shop at home the way you want it, the train rides, electronics, and the wheelmen. This video of the beautiful landscape out west. Keep doing what you’re doing and living each Day to its fullest. You are awesome.

2:00 “ for no apparent reason” you’re in a national park. Maybe you’re there for no apparent reason. ‘Food for thought’ people come there for the scenery and relax not to have some uptight tailgating them and complaining about it. Yeah stay in the city then maybe the park isn’t for you.

Robertbardos, what are you talking about? I did not say that, and not at 2:00. At about 1:30 I said something about a slow driving car in front of me, but you seem to be making a statement about something else.
