This is Part 2 of a multi part series of videos taken on July 24th 2020, from an empty coaching stock train 5Z11, 1043 Crewe DHS - Bristol Temple Meads which was run by Locomotive Services LTD. The route was via Shrewsbury - Hereford and that marvel of engineering the Severn Tunnel. In cab talking which has been muted out but there is still some very nice horn tones etc from the loco 47805. This is part two departing from Shrewsbury to Craven Arms.
Filmed in UHD.

Nice 56 in at the new shed, on site of Old Great Western shed at Sutton Bridge. Really enjoyed seeing Shrewsbury. My home town for many years. 👍

I live in Welshpool 19 miles from Shrewsbury and I still love to see the lower quardrent home and away signals. You do'nt see many of those on the lines these days. Thanks for uploading.

When I was a driver at Crewe 70s/80s we used to do the test runs between Crewe and church stretton of the refurbished locos from Crewe works, used to pick up 6 old coaching stock from basford hall a quick blast to church stretton run round back to basford hall then take the loco back to Crewe works, nice little job.

I've only been in a cab once - it was a great experience, just on a preserved line in a DMU between Ongar to North Weald. Thanks for giving us all a chance to join you on more ambitious outings :)

Lovely route and my most favourite main line in the U.K. I thought you might have pointed out a few more places such as Condover, Leebotwood and Marshbrook which are all fairly easy to state as that is where signals (Intermediate Block) or Marsh Brook by the level crossing is indeed a full block post. Very lovely though and isn’t that vegetation very poor in parts.

A trip down the Marches line - what a treat! Thank you. And thanks too for going to the trouble of giving us what sound you could.

Good stuff, but we'll just have to guess why so much of the sound was muted. Did the driver have terrible flatulence?

It may seem a silly question but why are some of the semaphore signals on this line showing up for go and some showing down for go?
@paulra2002
@paulra2002 4 года назад
Think the question should be asked. why semaphores in this day and age ?
@grahammace5060
@grahammace5060 4 года назад
Most semaphore signals in the former GWR/Western region were "lower quadrant" (i.e. "down" for "off") "Upper quadrant" (i.e. "up" for "off") is more common in the UK - lines that were formerly Midland, Eastern, Northern and Scottish railway companies. ALL semaphores are "danger" when the arm is horizontal - anywhere in UK and even Irish Republic. Same applies to disc ground sigs used for shunting, and repeater signals as well.

it's a bit more interesting from 'up front' but The Marches has to be the dullest route going, still, good for some shut-eye on the cushions..... with thoughts and prayers for 1T08...
