I don't think so. With the internet and how savvy people are to media it wouldn't work. Anyway, it already happened with the 45th President of the USA.
@@terrytalksmovies Spike Lee loved this film. He's on record saying so. Makes me want to see "Bamboozled" which might have been inspired by that among so many other things.
shockingly great performance by andy griffith - the movie does some have some rough patches and flaws, but very raw and confrontational for a 1957 flick; impressive and important
I am both enthralled and disturbed by this movie. Being from the southern US (Tennessee specifically) Andy Griffith is a national treasure. So this is quite the departure from the easy going sheriff that I can't seem to place the name of right now ( tongue firmly in cheek). This did inspire me to look deeper into Andy Griffith's catalog. I found a film I think it was a TV movie called Murder in Coweta County. I did see where another person commented on Ace in the Hole. Watched it recently and enjoyed it as well. I appreciate the hidden gems that you inadvertently are introducing me to. Keep up the excellent work. As an aside, at the end of this video you said something about politics. I just want to say I have a good friend that has different political views as myself. But we both love movies and old TV shows. I follow your channel for your take on film and television. Not for your politics. Keep introducing or reminding me of things I may be interested in or have forgotten about and I'll keep watching the channel lol. Carry on 😁
I just happen to catch the last half of this film on the Movie Channel (United States) and plan on going back to watch it. Andy Williams was amazing as was Patricia Neal and Walter Matthau. While looking for the film on RU-vid to watch again, I only found clips and your review, where your Channel was recommended. Thank you for a snippet of what it is about. Also, I agree with the points you made at the end and the very tactful way you put it. New Subscriber.
Thanks DeLana. Glad you like the channel but the pedant in me has to tell you, it's Andy Griffiths. I've made the same mistake myself, in a video. Hope you stick around.
Hello, Terry. Can't count how many times I have watched this movie. Just a tour de force. The "hot mic" will get you every time. Have the courage of your ignorance, and keep your mouth shut (in today's world: don't text). I recommend this movie to three people who have probably never watched it: carlson, hannity, and ingram. It will be interesting to see if there is a reaction from the public similar to the one in the movie. Sadly, I doubt it.
I approach this as a horror movie. To me, most horror movies have an otherworldly feel. But this movie shows the horror of a man made monster-it could really happen and it did in the USA with Donald Trump. Thankfully, he was thrown out in 2020. Hopefully, he will be thrown in jail for his crimes.
The character of Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes reminds me of Rush Limbaugh in the facet that he was - to a degree - a charismatic person who could convince anyone to do what he said; sadly, Rush never got caught on a hot mic without his knowledge, as "Lonesome" Rhodes did; if we show this movie to the American Right - especially the Far Right - in order to convince them to get wise to people such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Trump and others of their ilk, most of the American Right would reject your intent. I have this movie on DVD, and it does hold up; thanks for the review.
@@rcrawford42 That's only because the American Right - especially the Far-right - makes for a much more pleasurable target; true, there are some on the Left who are also such targets, but the Right is so much more fun to go after. In regard to SNL - specifically "Weekend Update" - you wouldn't happen to recall, by any chance, would you, a certain news parody which aired back in 2007 on the "Political Whorehouse that is Fox News", called, "The Half-Hour News Hour"? This show was the brainchild of Joel Surnow, the Rush Limbaugh disciple who foisted upon us the series, "24"; he called it "the Daily Show for conservatives"; the show just was not that funny, even among some conservatives - and the series was yanked after the full thirteen episodes aired.
