himmel defeating the demon king, the strongest demon ever, with a regular weapon is one of the most badass stuff I've ever heard.

Becoming a legendary hero out of spite and then making the guy who spited you work with you is just way too accurate.

Himmel did not give up even after receiving magical confirmation that he was not the "True Hero" and went on to defeat the Demon King with pure skill alone. If that isn't hero behavior, I don't know what is.

Himmel defeating the Demon King with a fake sword is pretty impressive. However, I am even more impressed that his party still chose to go into battle with him against the Demon King knowing he didn't wield the Hero's sword. That is true loyalty and camaraderie right there.

Voice acting is so soothing in this anime. Especially Himmel's and Frieren's voice actors had done a great job to give calm and peaceful vibe. Also, I cannot forget about music, plot, characters and animations. Everything is perfect with this series.

I believe the reason Himmel couldn't draw the hero's sword is that the blade recognized Himmel had no need for it. Instead of being not "Worthy".

You know after seeing a lot of self proclaimed heroes in animes it is nice to see a real hero like himmel.

The funniest part is that a blacksmith who created that fake sword, knows that his sword defeated demon lord, and no one would ever believe him. ( They've meet before)

Started as casual watch, but after the first two episodes, realized that this is not the typical fantasy anime, it's more than that

If the prophecy that a "True Hero" will pull the sword from the stone really is true, I wonder who it is intended for now that the Demon King has been defeated.

The best part about Hero Himmel’s story is that by defeating the demon king with a fake sword, he made it a real hero’s sword, thereby leaving the sword with two true hero’s swords... albeit only one actually possesses outstanding characteristics aside from being a hero’s weapon!

Himmel would go on to be rejected by the 'real' Hero sword which to this day still sits in its cave never again seeing the light. Himmel's 'fake' sword would go on to not only slay the demon king but be the implement that would conquer the most dungeons in the world. One lazes about waiting for a 'chosen one' only to reject them for arbitrary reasons. The other put in the work and MADE its own legend. Think about that.

This is one my favourite parts about the story so far. It goes to show you make your own destiny. Himmel, despite appearing superficial at the beginning, shows a surprising amount of depth and emotional intelligence, convincing me why the other three chose to follow his leadership.

Swords don't make heroes great, it's how they use them

Swords or big words don't make a hero. It's the deeds that make one. Swords may dull and rust out, but deeds endure. Himmel was given a great power, and he used for good. That made him a hero. Take for example Mumen Rider from One Punch Man. He's pretty ordinary guy with no significant superpowers, but he uses the hand he's been dealt with to help those around him. That, if something, is heroic.

This is the coolest scene with Himmel because it shows an apparent "flaw"/contradiction in his character. Himmel's main weakness as a character is that there aren't more scenes of him like this.

I think this an excellent way to show greatness can come from anywhere and from anyone.

Never say this Hero party lacked a thief... because Himmel was always stealing the damn show.

Imagine if the one who created the Hero’s Sword actually just made an impossible challenge to sort through the one’s who give up too quickly. So only true heroes persevered after being told it was impossible for them.

not being able to pull out the sword make Himmel heroisim more meaningful. if he able to pull the sword, he is just a prophecied hero. but him not being the prophecied hero, yet become one anyway, show how much or a true hero he really is. just like how a corrupted priest can have so much faith a cowardly warrior can be so brave and an immortal and detached elf can be so emotional and sentimental

In the hands of a great man, anything can become legendary. For example, Leonardo da Vinci used an ordinary paintbrush to create the Mona Lisa. This paintbrush achieved legendary status not because it was inherently special, but because it was used by a legendary figure.

The thing about Himmel is that he is not someone who gave up the fate of his world to some hero who might come in the future. He is someone who took matters in his own hand.

Imo the best subversion of the chosen one trope is the Hero who earns that title not because of fate or prophecy but through his merits, sheer willpower, and kindness.

Maybe the real hero was the friends we met along the way. A true hero would not be dissuaded from doing what's necessary just because a rusty old hunk of metal stuck in a rock didn't find him worthy. Magic sword: you're not worthy. Himmel: IDGAF. The world needs me to be the hero, so I will.

Reminds me of that scene in "The Matrix", where the oracle bluffs about Neo not being the chosen one.

I have a theory I ponder and that is that Stark unbeknownst to us actually pulled the sword up from the stone. But then put it down again. Because that is what a hero would do, not to shine a bad light on the hero of the past and his legend or to in any way take away from his accomplishments.
