35 years ago we went to The Lakes camping with two babies. I was desperate to go mountain biking so took my wife's Elswick Hopper folding shopping bike. First descent, no brakes, had to try and jump a ditch, failed, fortunately no broken bones. Bike went home in two bits. Didn't put me off, we still go regularly and follow many of your trails, but these days on our Levo EMTB's. Keep up the good work.
Great video. Looks a brilliant natural route. About on the limit of my abilities but I'd like to have a go sometime. Thanks for posting, really good quality and voice over description. I will check them all out and have subbed !
wow some e-bike climbs there. think i`ll be having a go at this. i`ll be upping my tyres from 2.5 to 2.8 shortly for this sort of ride. defo with extra protection. imagine a sliced tyre half way round this course.
Just the standard jersey and shorts. In winter I always wear water proof enjura mt500 trousers and a waterproof/wind proof jacket. As for protection for this type of ride. Elbow and knee pads. And with the descents been quite fast. I had My fox pro frame full face helmet on
Love the lakes,, on my door step 👌😍even better for the bike,, was disappointed that you left us short of Keswick... Was interested on which track brought you back down😒😢cheers anyways guys👍😊loved the footage ❤️😉👌
Just upgraded my GT avalanche comp HT to a Trek remedy 7 NX. Done a few local rides. Nothing on this scale, so hopefully it gets a good christening on this route. Love the vids Andy. Some cracking rides on your channel. Wish I had the skill or the balls to do most of them 🤣 Really helps that you put the Komoot GPX link in the description. 👍🏻
I followed your route last Friday on a day off work, cheers Sunny & no wind, excellent route, although the descent to Rosthwaite nearly saw me at the Pearly Gates
@@TrailFinder I tired to, which was a great tip, but I don't mind admitting it was beyond me & as I was on my own, I didn't want to hurt myself & then be stuck out there alone. Soft I know, but i've has some bad luck the past
@@TrailFinder I've gone down the Apple Watch route. It has an incident detection system & an alert button for help or emergency contacts. Hopefully never have to use it
Great video and route! The permissive bike path- is it the one that runs from NY243138 to NY242142 ? The routes on Strava and Komoot are presumably the route you planned, rather than did?
That’s correct. Either way is good. Although when you go up the permissive bike track you do miss a little descent. If you have never done this ride before I’d go up the road. As you might think the little descent is worth the road climb up.
Hi mate, I'm a complete beginner but have sent the whinlatter North loop a few times. I want to get away from parks and do some more natural rides, just got myself an orbea occam h30 and ready to crack on, could you suggest some rides that are similar in technicality to the north loop?
I did this route this week, fantastic but nearly killed me! It was too hot at 26 degrees. I did the Walla Crag section and didn’t see any ‘no bike’ signs, has that issue been resolved or have the signs just been removed?
Signs have been removed by the national trust. The guy I rode with in this video has almost won the case to have walla crag turned into a bridleway. Or permissive cycle route. Great news!!
Great video ! I did the ride a couple of weeks ago for the first time. Next time I'll try some of the different sections you did. Tough descent into Rosthwaite, I dismounted a few times, it was windy and wet and nothing like as nice as your trip ! Here's my video link (new to videoing) from where it gets interesting: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lSOp77AGMGE.html
Out of interest... Was the strava link just uploaded as looks like it goes up honister pass but you took a detour. Think I can see where you come off on global heat map
Yes. As on the actual ride the Garmin messed up and only recorded half the ride.So had to share this version instead. Both the ride in the vid and the gpx file are equally as good. Going up the road instead of the off road section gives you an extra little descent.
