47:08 i mean most animals do assert their dominance especially over female and the place they occupy for which they can kill any. Well one may argue its just for survival not some ulterior motives like human do. But doesn't killing for the sake of killing makes us human as does making art for its sake. Well its debatable what is human 'is he a rational animal' ? what does that even mean? And in the advent of ai technology the meaning of human will change. Maybe this random act of killing for the sake of it is a bug in human like art and that become a feature.

the split i think is cartesian also between the mind and body. His mind is towards the literary tradition of the English language, his humanism and superman (maybe alluding to neitzeche). While body is of kenyan that is his color, culture and ultimately the strong physical desire to kill and take revenge like gurilla warfare mentioned. Descartes is considered as the starting point of modern philosophical thought in the renaissance. Descartes believed that our mental faculties (such as reason, understanding, and imagination) are inherently good. A western man is considered to be cultural and rational. While Nazis pervertize the ideas of Superman by Neitszche, and just because of racial differences deemed themselves as superior to those of darker races. The main problem with western humanism is that it is western and they use humanism to justify their crimes.

26:30 i think the british here repersesents the humanity itself that see paradise and want to destroy it because of whim and fancy. That gives a religious significance the poem starts with the wind of change like that of shelly's west wind but derek is not so optimistic about it and compare the kikyu's spirit with the hoarding of flies

i like he bring 'carcass of drum' to the picture african culture put great importance to the beats than melody. Other thing is that the music is ultimately meaningless one enjoy music because one likes iT. There is no hard evidence like steven pinker said "music is a brain cheese" it maybe. A junk food. Art in general have no meaning than itslef same goes to war. I like in every culture the war cries are combined with music there seems to be a inherent relation between them that is being captured here. Like shiva dance to destruction of the world its facinating and then he says pain can't be divine. Muslims too beat them up to show their reverence towards the god. The reason why we give bali too.

this humanitarianism just feel like an aesthetic and don't seem to capture the reality of humans. Humans have waged war and will in the future this historicity is attested in the second verse where he gives the image of creatures and farmers who have cried in war since time memorial. Inflicting pain is also divine like zeus, rudra and noah. God is that one who can create and destroy and pain is one part of that.
