Some day we will have a clear understanding of what this is and how to prevent these tragedies from happening and with all of my heart and soul it is your story and others like yours that will help us find the reason/cause of such debilitating illnesses that lead to such a tragic death. What a great father you are to your daughter in her time here on earth and now in her time with God in heaven.

There is a 12 Step program similar to AA that addresses eating disorders. Very sad to hear of your loss and your daughter’s struggle.

Such courage and sensitivity in telling this heartbreaking account of your daughter’s illness as well as all the heroic measures taken to try to save her life. She had an amazing gift, a father who did everything he could in order to save her life. Thank you for sharing your story. 💕

Guys in my humble opinion this episode and the previous one with Shloimy are the type you should consistently aim for. That is well known but not overly famous people who are candid with something new to share.

We firmly believe everyone is meaningful. You may gravitate towards a certain type of person and others will gravitate to another. We will continue to try and be as diverse as possible. Love this feedback. Thanks!

Thank you Avremi. I’ve been following your posts since reading the heartbreaking story about your daughter. The video of Yocheved singing Moon River was so touching, I wanted so much to tell you sorry I was for your loss. Sadly my 24 year old son Jacob took his own life yesterday in a most violent and traumatic way. I’m still trying to understand why. He seemed to be doing so well and had recently started his dream job as a hairstylist. He too struggled with severe depression, social anxiety and an eating disorder. The first time he tried to take his own life he was 17. We are grateful for the 7 extra years we had with him. Your daughter Yocheved and my son Jacob had sensitive hearts and were too good for this world. May you find comfort and solace one day ❤️ - from a fellow grieving parent in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Was a great conversation! I was going back and forth in my mind about commenting because it is such a sensitive topic. There was something Avremi said that I couldn’t agree more on was with our generation of raising children how certain influences or social media can be extremely harmful. I remember a few years ago watching a tv show called 13 reasons why and telling people this is the worst tv show they can have because anyone one having a struggle with something similar will start getting ideas. It’s a great interview and a lot we can learn and should learn

Wow thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment. Just had a chance to read the post I think it’s extremely important of what we watch, read or listen to in today society something that can seem innocent “just a tv” can have harm. You are an amazing and well thought out person.

Only just started listening to the show. This was a tough first episode to pick. He is a remarkable person, very calm, measured, articulate. You chose a sensitive topic to discuss and on the whole, did a good job. I did feel that while your making little jokes was done to keep the mood light, which I understand, at times it wasn't appropriate and was a bit jarring. You have a man trying to discuss the death of his daughter; jokes aren't necessary. (Like when Avremi mentions he's not a professional, and someone made a silly joke how they are a pro, actually no, just joking).

What's happening?, is social media, tv, is ruining US, and we are missing Emuna, we really need to walk with Torah. We very sorry for your lost. Shabbat Shalom🕯️🕯️🇮🇱

"Putting health before religion" is the wrong way to express it. Religion dictates and mandates that we keep someone alive even if that means chillul Shabbos... In fact it isn't called Chillul Shabbos at all. It is Shmiras Shabbos. In the words of one of the Gedolei Yisroel spoken to me about someone suffering from anorexia, "it is a Mitzvah D'Oraisa to feed them pork on Yom Kippur." The Torah never needs to be set aside because Hakadosh Boruch Hu, in His infinite wisdom, took every possible scenario into account.

I realized that when I watched it and never doubted it for a second but felt it needed to be made clear for those that may misconstrue the idea. I have had to drive Avremi’s point home for parents, sometimes by having Rabbonim call the family and write letters, so I have a small inkling of what this Tzaddik of a father was saying. This mental condition is horrific beyond words and sometimes, RL, there is absolutely nothing that can be done as the poor Neshama wastes away before the eyes of their parents.

This father is in so much pain, we can't even imagine. We will never want to walk in his shoes. The healing is going to be very long, only Hashem, Torah and Time will do it.

It's time for parents to realize that it's not "cool" to have technology in our homes. Although it can be used for good, we constantly see our children having negative influence from social media and watching movies and TV shows. Cut it out while you can and save yourself all the headaches later.

Her pain I believe is indescribable. I suffered for so long. Attempted suicide when I was 9 . Always thought about it. Pleaded with Hashem to take me. Medication didnt work and I did not want to be around people especially with babies. The more I delved into Judaism as i grew older i came to terms with my pain and i know i will never attempt suicide. Again it sink so low .
