With egg shells you can rinse with water and then add broken in half directly to your vermiculture compost, they will disappear within weeks. This is the quickest method I have found to recycle into soil, although if you leave them in medium size jagged pieces the egg shells will help deter snails in your garden around your greens and vegetables. I like to sterilize old egg shells in the oven, after baking smth else, I put them in a dish into the still hot, but turned out oven. They are very easy to smash in your hands afterwards and then they go into my Bokashi container with some micro organisms. I find they decomposes very quickly like this
