Rod Miller, husband of Dory, father of Keith and Scott, passed away July 25, 2018. After his memorial service on July 30, the Department of Veterans Affairs presented a flag to Dory, recognizing Rod's two years of service in Germany.
This final salute to Rod exemplifies Rod as a soldier and as a remarkable husband and father. The church, St. Martin of Tours in La Mesa, California, was filled. All who attended came to recognize Rod, and to console Dory, Keith and Scott.
The playing of Taps at the end of a soldier's day signals the beginning of a night of rest. For Rod, the playing of Taps marks his passing and eternal rest.
