I would love to know how to setup the rest of the spreadsheet to do multiple sizes !! The basic setup you showed me is great , multiple sizes would be awesome 👏🏻
Thank you for explaining the basics of pattern grading. I too would love to learn more. You talked about schematics, it would be helpful to see a graphic of what you are talking about. Thank you so much.
Thank you, I'm very much interested in the pattern grading, I'm a beginner and I want to make my own long sweater this topic is helping me a lot. Thank you 😊
Yesssss! That’s exactly what I need/want to learn. I understand it’s not that simple, but it’s a beautiful step in creating something on my own. Please teache me more 🧶🙂
Your videos on sizing and pattern grading are some of the most helpful I have found! Thank you so much for sharing this. The spreadsheets are amazing and having one set up for multiple sizing is something I needed and didn't even know I was missing, would look forward to it if you did that even more in-depth than your current video. Thank you, one designer, to another.
Hi, This tutorial was very interesting to hear, but I’m a visual learner so it hasn’t really helped me, unfortunately, but I am eager to learn more. Thank you so very much for sharing and I look forward to seeing more. Take care and stay safe and well. God bless you 🙏🏼🧶💗😻🦋🐶🇦🇺
I want to make a sweater but didn't know where to start. These videos help and I've even learned to knit. Thank you, I will continue to watch and learn more.
Very interesting information. I didn’t realize how important swatch gage was for making garments. I want to make a cardigan but have held off because it’s a large time investment for an item that doesn’t end up fitting. In future videos perhaps you could show various projects and the different types of measurements that are helpful for the arms, body, neck etc. To visually see how to apply gage to different parts of the garment definitely would be helpful. Thank you very much for all you do for the crochet community, it is very much appreciated.
I am extremely interested in your very informative videos as I've been knitting and crocheting for years, more so the last couple of years to help combat joint stiffness and pain from rheumatoid arthritis, but I've always used other people's patterns even though I would love to create original patterns for my family. I would very much appreciate any help to fulfil this dream. Thank you for your help and keep up the good work.
Even having never created a pattern before, this is very interesting as a maker so I can better understand where it's appropriate to customize/adjust the pattern and where it makes sense to stick to the pattern.
Thanks, Brittany. This is very helpful. Maybe you could follow this up with a tutorial on the design process. Taking a vision of a garment and converting it into the appropriate shape or shapes and how to then, assemble or arrange those into a garment.
I really enjoyed this information and wish there were additional videos explaining the process and the calculations. I have seen many patterns only available in a small. I bought one which the grading was so off my actual measurements required me to make it 2 sizes smaller based on the pattern. Do you have any suggestions for learning this process?
Thank you, you’ve made it so simple for me to understand! I never thought of using a spreadsheet! 😅 I would love to learn more. I’ve done a simple crop top pattern with granny squares and that was easy to grade. But I’m scared to do more fitted garments, especially around the bust area, grading this way might not be enough. I would also like to know if it’s any different from making a specific size, checking the gauge on that item and then do the grading. Thanks!😊
Glad it was helpful! Honestly, I do all of my designing in a spreadsheet before I even pick up a hook (accept for the gauge swatch, of course 😊). I didn't always do it this way, but now I'll never go back. I'd say start with a basic shape first - you'd be surprised at how much the yarn will conform to your body without increases. It may not work for every yarn and every project but you'll learn a little something with every attempt. No failures here, just lessons learned!
I would love to know more about pattern grading for a hat. I have a few patterns that I've come across that only come in a couple of sizes and no matter what I try, I can never get them the right fit when trying to adjust them myself. HELP. LOL
I would love to know more about it and yet when you look at some of the patterns they are made for a certain size, but the height of the recipient isn't taken into account. Like for example, I'm 5 foot and wear about a size 2x. The sleeves are always way too long for me.
This is great and all, but how do I convert a vintage one size pattern so it'll fit my size? What about armhole decreases, neckline, sleeves, etc. Al.? Do the shaping parts stay the same? Are they changed? I guess I don't see how this helps grade the pattern 🤷♀️
