100% this format is better. Not going to lie I tend not to make it through the walk round videos as there is no riding involved. I like the riding and was still interested after the walk around. Great video A* from me. 👏👏
I have a 32" inseam and a tall adventure bike and I always use the cowboy mount to get on and off the bike. Makes it much easier. Also, if the bike is leaning over too much on the stand, turn the front wheel so that it is pointing right before getting on and it is easier to shunt the bike to the upright position.
Yea, i know the theory, I just always forget to apply it 🤣 tbf, I didn't realise how steep the hill was until I tried to get it off the stand 🤣 just shows you should put some thought into where you park lol
I use the same method after cramping up once and getting my foot stuck on the seat 😂😂 and down we go with cramp on one ass cheek 🤷♂️🤷♂️ my Dad warned me getting old is not for woosies 🤣🤣🤣
Tks Kate, my tuppence, like this format, everything in a oner. Nice bike, sounds nice too, quick shifter sounds slicker than my GSA!. Good shout Triumph.
Hey John! Yes the quickshifter doesn't feel as agricultural as the GS that's for sure. I have a lot of footage pre recorded not in this format but it seems to be a hit so when filming anything from now on, I will take it into account 😊
Nice review, Triumph stuck me on one to show me how a ran in engine behaved after their speed triple ran like a box of spanners. was very impressed with how it handled. Keep up the great work.
Enjoyed the review Kate, I have no real preference on your review format, other than to say mixing it up is good. Back to the bike being a 1250 GS ADV owner I'm interested in this bike the blind spot monitoring is a good safety thing to have, only thing the bike was deficient in, in my view is upper crash bars thought they would be a given on this type of bike, but that was my only gripe everything else looked good. Thank you...
The channel is perfect 👍 I love hearing that northern UK accent being an ex Yorkshireman living in Canada 🇨🇦!!! The fact you can get on such a big bike and throw it around like that is awesome 👏👏👏 I have a Trophy SE and it’s too heavy same engine as the old 1200 Tiger. When the wife gets on it with all her gear it’s really heavy. They can be a handful when going long distance touring and being stuck in traffic. Going to be heading out for 8 days in the western USA like Idaho, Montana and Washington state to see how far I can make it there and back. Keep you the great work Kate the channel is great as far as I’m concerned 👍👍👍
I enjoyed this format , but in particular I really like your mic choice/ sound editing. I'm in the market for a triumph and your video is the only one where the 3 cylinder whine isnt overpowering all the other sounds of the bike. This actually sounds great.
Hey Fred! Glad you liked this layout! I have a lot of videos pre recorded and scheduled so for future filming, I will take everyone's feedback into account!
Very smooth delivery of this kind of 'first-up' introduction to any new bike. Your confidence is growing and makes your videos and narration very watchable. Stay on the upward trend. Oh, and Kudos for managing the big Explorer. I am taller than you (5' 10'') and have a Tiger 900 GT Pro, but could not take on the 1200, too big and heavy (even the 2022) for me to fully enjoy, as I know there would be occasions when the concentration goes and I would get into a pickle and down she would go. Otherwise, I'd love one.
Hi Kate, Great blog, I would say you came across very natural in this blog, again with your fun sayings ( chicken one)😂. I love the fact you point out about being a shorty , but you can adapt easily to combating the obstacles of a high seat and hefty machine. This is very good for people to know, and will encourage more people to adopt your attitude 👍.Be interested to know if vibration is present at any particular rev band, and does it have a thirst problem, as it has a cross plane crankshaft.Sounds a great engine🎶🎼🎤.Your picture and sound quality is amazing .Love your channel, I have new 1250 GS , which I love. I am spreading the word in Sweden 🇸🇪 Cheers Kate🥂🏍❤️🙏
I didn't notice vibes too much and didn't think it had a drinking problem 🤣 but its gone back now unfortunately! Thanks for the compliments on the video. I appreciate that! And I'm glad you're loving your GS 😁
Great thourigh review, plus adding the insurance quote is very important factor when deciding on a motorcycle. High insurance quotes on certain models have been a major factor when purchasing a motorcycle. In the States, The Kaw SX1000 sport tourer, the Suzuki GS1000 GT + have high insurance premiums. Most people don't factor in the insurance cost until they already purchased a motorcycle.
Just looked at the price on the Triumph web site, for the bike with panniers and a top box. Sit down.......£19,700. Nice review, liked the mixture of walkround and riding, and knowing the Rivington road helps put it in perspective a bit.
I enjoyed this format Kate; a mix of walk-around and riding. I have an 18' Africa Twin, but I really like the look of this Triumph. Plus, I'm a sucker for tech. I would definitely enjoy all of the features of this bike.
I like the camera work on this video. I think the format is much better. As for the bike I might have a look at it. Don't forget you can use the footpeg as a step but do have in gear. I was always kicking the pillion back rest on my rocket gt and found it was better. You ride very well. 👍
I went to triumph as I'm looking at a new bike and loved this bike but the salesman kind of put me off it to the 900 instead. Testrode the tiger900 gt and I absolutely loved it. More than the tracer 9gt and s1000xr. I agree with the back wheel though wish it was slightly fatter
Good review Kate, lower seat option, heated. Excellent summary and detail. I delivered mine in Sydney a few weeks ago, very satisfied. Great weight reduction vs previous model and GS. 😊
I tried one of the Rally's at the ABR and LOVED IT. It felt like the 900, I had to remind myself when I was careening down to a gravelly corner! Very VERY nice bike, and likely the next bike for me (house first!! :D)
Been waiting for this one, Kate! Wonderful job as always! So detailed and informative. Love how sporty and aggressive you are riding. Pavement says SLOW and you throttle up!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Grip it and Rip it! 👊🏻❤️❤️🤩
great review. the black looks good. i live in nz and have the 2020 triumph tiger 1200 XRT. am going to seriously think about getting it when they arrive here. cheers
That Triumph is huge, would suit my 36" inside leg and 6'5" height perfectly just a shame my bank balance doesn't fit the price. I'll be getting an Explorer but it'll be around a 2014 model. Great review though
Howdy USERNAMEKATE! I like how you reviewed this one. Fantastic. I've been wanting to take this bike for a test ride...I have a 22 900GT...love it but been wanting a ride on the 1200...I'm going to book a ride. Love to watch your videos...I try to make it over every year for a tiger meetup but have missed the last 2 yrs because of covid...Love to visit your lovely country! take care and thanks for the review...Cheers from Texas.
Nice video Kate, as usual 😊... but the roads in England seem so narrow and rutted, 😵💫 I'm scared. 🥵...Come to France, Auvergne, Ardèche, Savoie, we share our pleasure of driving on our roads ☺
Thanks for the details. I was doubting I could ride this bike as I have 30" inseam but then I looked up the seat height of my old DR600 Suzuki and it was 925mm, I was real tip toe from memory but I rode that for years in Sydney traffic, don't know how I managed it. But yes you inspired me to go for it anyway. Yeah they make a lower seat part number A9701459 which I will get also.
I wouldn’t need the increased fuel capacity over the GT Pro, but I do actually really like the body panel design much better. It seems more muscular and filled out more, having it extend further down the front end a bit. And oh boy, having the bike all blacked out with some silver bits thrown around does make a sharp looking bike. When it was first launched I was team blue all the way, but wow, this black Explorer is classy 👌
Nice bike, bit of a chunky beefcake. I like the shaft drive as you know and you did a good job moving it. Not sure I could 😅. Anyway thanks for a lovely vid. Stay busy but above all safe 👏👏👍👍
I'm rendered useless atm! Labyrinthitus has got me in its grasp and not letting go 🥲 it better go before the 18th July as I don't wanna cancel ANOTHER trackday 🥺
@@UsernameKate oh noooo! That can be nasty. I really hope you get well soon and continue to create great content but I’m sure you won’t rush and we will all be patient til you are well. If there’s anything I can do to help let me know. Take care. See you soon 😊
I have a 2020 Desert Edition - the only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did is hill hold. It weighs 50 pounds more and has 10 fewer horses than the 2023 you're driving today, but it scares the snot out of me on the regular anyway. I'm 6'3" (191 cms) and stand both feet flat, and it can be a handful - I admire your skill in managing that on two tippiest of toes.
Great review Kate, like the walk around, would love to see some reviews on motorcycle clothing and motorcycle accessories. I have a 2019 Triumph 1050 sport, i absolutely love that bike. keep up the great work Kate.
It's going to be at least another year before I trade the 900XR in for something with a bit more grunt but I must admit that I am a Triumph fan after owning a Daytona 650, Street Triple R and most recently a Sprint st 1050 so the Bigger Tigger is a serious contender. I will also ride the GS as I know a few GS owners and they all love them to bits, I have already disqualified the KTM, I had a SDGT and the electrical gremlins were as rampant as the engine when it was working properly. Great video!
Nice review Kate, I think they are so close now, that you would just buy the one that gave you the best deal, IE trade in , extras, discount, mind you, you probably more likely to get a deal from BMW, as I hear a all new 1300 GS is in the pipeline 😁, so deals on the outgoing 1250 possible, where as Triumph are not likely to give deal's on a new model.
Hi Kate, great to see you out and about testing the new Triumph, Its a lovely bike but !! still the 1250 GS for me and wait for the new 1300 GS , will knock the Triumph into a cocked hat !!!!!
Well composed walk and push around Kate. Doubt if it could be fixed exploring any place in central and south America. Maybe pick it up once, but back roads make many drops possible could it still be picked up traveling solo? Tarmac and Europe sure.
Great Review Kate, i actually really like it! Can i just ask, where’s were you riding when doing this review? The roads look great, definitely want to take my GS there on Wednesday!
Hi Kate, great video on the triumph 1200 , where abouts was the area you did the video on , them roads look great . Keep up the good work and your amusing banter
About to buy one so, nice to hear your thoughts. I did take the explorer and the pro out and it was definitely a win for the explorer. Hopefully getting the black, but stock is an issue with our local dealer so, it may be blue! Great video and I am now a subscriber.
I think I much prefer this more active style of presentation to the static spec’ readings and walk-around. I imagine it’s more fun for you also, which came across in this one.
I'd be the same regarding filling up the tank, probably defeats the object of the explorer version. It's a shame they don't let vehicles up through the gate it would be great on a bike up to the top. :)
Am sure it's semi-active bouncers with electronic preload adjustment on the rear on the whole Tiger 1200 range? It was on the 1200 Pro I test rode a couple of days ago... anyway I'm sold, it's my next bike.
I like the format of your video Kate, please tell me is there still at bike meet on Thursday nights at that location on Winterhill? Not been since way before the lockdown.
Loving the look and reviews of the latest Triumph Tiger 1200 range as thinking of buying one this year to replace my Kawasaki Versys 1000 (which personally has been great bike but hey I need some new toys!) I was looking to buy the GT Pro until I saw your video of the GT Explorer. Just wondering if the 30L tank will make it too top heavy? Would you swap your GS for one of these :)
Great vid enjoyed it good to see triumph let you have the bike for a while so you can give us all the + n - for it You should ask triumph about getting you the lower seat option to try Looking forward to hearing more
Triumph seems to have made a great adventure bike with this in 5 different flavours, so you as you probably know Kate this is available with different size tanks, front wheel, suspension and seat height too, so you can really spec this close to what you like. Great review Kate like your enthusiasm, do you know if you move from driving cars with 9 years plus NCB to riding bikes if the reduced insurance costs on account of NCB still applies (anybody)? thanks.
On the NCB, I was told that NCB from a car can't be transferred to a bike, or the other way around... It can't be transferred between different vehicle types.
Stylema Calibers is a bit surprising. They're very track focused calipers for better cooling. I'd expect the enclosed Calipers to keep shit out of them when offroading.
Hi Kate brilliant review I am wanting a new bike for touring with all the luggage and my darling wife on the back. Really liked the big 1200 triumph explorer and do like the idea of heated seats and hill assist when you have all that weight. But I allso like the African twins but not sure on if it would be powerful enough for two up and luggage. I no you have tested driven both. Just wondering what your thoughts are cheers 👍Andy
Was going to buy one but it would be a couple of months maybe more before they would be available so I got the v4s multistrada instead. Format; I get pulled in by how much fun you are having (singing a plus). So for me it's a question of what is more fun for you, that's my pick
@@UsernameKate honestly? I did not test ride it before buying it. My suprise was being comfortable and confident on it before I got home. It now has 5773 miles and I have never enjoyed a bike more in my life. It is bike number 6 for me sense 1985 and over 300k miles (not including dirt bike) and test rides of countless other bikes. I need a lambs wool cover for my old behind and plan on many many miles on her. Thank you for asking
Hi Kate very impressed with your professional and funny approach.. I reckon you should give the ktm superduke 1290 gt a go. I would value your opinion as its my current bike 😍
Hi Kate, I am a female rider and you can't get low seats stock I'm told. I currently own a 2019 tiger 1200 xrx low and the seat height is 790 - 810 mm, which is just right for me to plant both feet flat wearing doc martens chunkies! I am looking to buy the 2022 model, but there is no low version, I'm told🙁
Nothing that I particularly noticed! But I do appreciate others highlight this. It just didn't strike me as an obvious annoyance if that makes sense :)
@@UsernameKate Try either the Super Adventure 1290 R (Offroad) or the Street certified Super Adventure 1290 S 👌🏍💨💨 either one smokes any rival in my opinion
p.s try the Super Adventure S in sport mode OH MY DAYS ,it's like getting a piggy back off Mike Tyson ,my Gopro footage needs speedo smudge editing lol 😆
