I used to grow those flowers in my garden in Montreal, Canada. They are called Datura or Jimson Weed. It was hard to get the seeds to sprout, some times they would sprout 2 or 3 years after planting. Very picky about soil and watering, I never got it right and gave up. They are poisonous and psychoactive. Once I was picking the seed pods with bare hands and got sick. The growing season here is just long enough, if you are not lucky they won't have time to make seeds.
Pretty amazing that they have been coming up in that same pot for three years now. I do nothing to them. Just water them. They are going to bloom again in the next few days. I think the Jimson Weed type plants grow pretty well in the hot, dry desert. I have heard a couple of stories where crazy teens get into making Jimson weed tea and it doesn't turn out well for them - even death. A very common plant is the desert is the Oleander bush. They are everywhere and they have different colored flowers on them. I hear chewing on only one leaf can cause the throat to close and cause death. Not sure what all I said in the video about the Moon Flower but I have seen something, maybe a giant moth or maybe even a bat come to them in the night when I am out with my telescopes. My guess the light of the moon causes something inside the flower to glow and attract some special critter to spread the pollen.
Congrats, you've made great progress! I ran into the same problem finding the millimeter sized tubing (and Canada is supposed to be a metric country...). I was going to try welding some Al plate together to the same internal dimensions but got too busy at work. Can you give me the source for the SAW bandpass filter? It might be faster for me to go that route. Thanks.
I definitely wanted to build the bandpass filter also but here is the link to the SAW filter - www.ebay.com/itm/284122398360 It actually got here pretty fast with that SpeedPak from China - of course I paid for it... I have some thin enough aluminum but I can't make nice bends to form the rectangular tubing.
