Yeah, we were without water for a long time before...it was not fun (still had drinking water, but it gets expensive to wash dishes/yourself in that). But we will need another solution in the future, either second water source or a filtration system.
Hi there. Looks like a pretty good driveway. What is the with of it? You’re so lucky to be in a wonderful location. Watching from Sydney Australia. Cheers mate!
Hello! We're amazed by the Bukidnon view every time we go there, can't wait to have the house completed The road is 3 meters wide and it has some dents in it, after quite a few very heavy trucks going up and down, but still quite decent! Thank you for watching!
We have bought 500 banana seedlings and got some other plants in mind as well. Eatable ferns? I had no idea, will have to look at that. I dislike ferns for the same reason they might be beneficial (root system and ability to spread). If we can actually use them for something, I might change my mind on them! Thank you!
Regarding the cheery tomato you are planting18:42, just wondering the plant survive because it seems that the plants doesn't have any roots in the video. BTW, where did you find this property anyway? It's so high up the mountain. How do you access water. Looks like there's a lot of work of you. All the best to your project.
Hi! Some of the cherry tomatoes made it, and are even bearing fruits already! I wouldn't recommend Filipino planting ("shove in ground, watch as it grows") to everyone (especially not if you live in a country like Sweden), but it works pretty ok in a country that essentially is a greenhouse. We found the property through Lourlin's uncle (he has quite a network when it comes to land for sale). Water isn't that big of an issue, there is both a source higher up (where we have a hose from, steady but not very clean) and we'll most likely use a spring on our land later on...but we need a pump for that. Lots of work for sure, but we're making progress. We hope to be able to move into our tiny house before the end of September. "Hope"! 😆 Thank you for the well wishes and thank you for watching!
Watching your video, I noticed your property and the surrounding area are at high risk of landslides, and I don't see any landslide prevention techniques used around your retaining walls....good luck
It is not an immensely high risk, at least compared to the surrounding barangays (according to a map over such things, according to the geological part of...DENR I think it was), but especially when the soil is disturbed (as we did) there might be. We have begun to plant different plants to help stabilize the soil, and plan to plant more. But yeah, the risk does exist and we'll keep an eye on the area above our soon-to-be house (and make sure to plant more there). Once we're settled there and we get a strong rain, I'll try to pinpoint where the water goes, to see if it needs to be diverted. Thank you for watching!
Säker på att den där 10cm väggen kommer hålla upp all jord som huset ska stå på? o.o Hos en vän var dem tvungna att sätta upp en 40cm "retaining wall" för att dom skulle få building permits.
With common sense, no building experience needed, one will know this will never work as a retaining wall… A structural wall 4 a house is 20cm/8inch, which allready isn’t used in the Philippines, but using a 4 inch brittle hollow block is asking 4 a known disaster In the end having 2 redo this wall, which will 4 sure have 2, now that is an expensive exercise. This would have 2b calculated by an engineer, but common sense tells me at least 30cm/12inch poured concrete, with rebar 12mm, openings from rebar no more than 10cm/4inch. Furthermore for safety/security, build it in separated terraces. This is way 2high 4 1 wall. Just my 50 cents.
He doesn't know what he's doing, that retainer will collapse in no time, building a house on the side of a mountain is insane, heavy rain will wash away the soil, also if you're a foreigner never buy property in the Philippines you're not the owner, many foreigners lost everything because a scrupulous devious Filipina wife or girlfriend, they do not love you, they love your money, this knucklehead will find out the hard way. More scams in the Philippines.
"Säker" kan man nog aldrig vara på något! Som marken är så borde det vara lugnt, men blir bra content om jag har fel! 😁 Vi använder en grupp som har byggt förut, enligt deras stil (på gott och ont). Jag är helt beredd på att behöva laga/fixa lite här och där...men det får man göra oavsett. Förhoppningsvis stannar huset på ett ställe utan för många problem. Men hur kul är det om allt går perfekt?
Wow, that was a lot of numbers, lol. Anyway, please note that the hollow blocks are filled with concrete and have rebar going through them both vertically and horizontally. In addition, there are posts and beams supporting the structures, and it is split into two terraces. But it IS built in the Philippines, so I'm not going to swear by it 100%. The guys that built our retaining wall have done it before and we've looked at their examples (at a nearby resort). Perfect? No. Still standing without any major issues? So far!
Hi Eddie! Always nice to hear from you, radiating positivity and constructive criticism as usual! I would love to hear about your experiences in the Philippines, they must be truly intriguing? Anyway, soon you might find the video you're looking for: "My Filipina left me and my house fell down"! Thank you for watching and best of luck in your quest to stay alone in your tiny apartment!
wow you move the camera like a drunken guy. and wtf dont you get them to make a concrete path to the house so they dont break the truck sliding in mud! wow is all i can say
Hehe, I'm working on my camera skills! And that tiny road isn't really meant to be driven on, they just wanted it a bit closer (and ended up mostly not using that pile anyway). Thank you for watching!
