I talked with my friend Bobby Conway to talk about some crushing doubts he had as a pastor and Christian apologist. He's a man who has genuinely struggled with the questions, wrestled with doubts, and emerged faithful on the other side. We discuss: What are his thoughts on "once saved always saved" considering his past? With all his Christian education and experience, why did he doubt so much? What were some of these doubts? How did he overcome it? And more.

Now, this has nothing to do with the video, but we are in a deep need of prayer right now. My mother's husband have practically forbidden my mother from going to church. She was raised a Christian, but fell away somewhat from Jesus, and especially from church in her late teens. These last few years she have found her way back to Jesus aswell as a beautiful Evangelical church and fellowship, but her husband really dislikes this. I don't know who to ask, but I know we are in deep need of intercessory prayer from our fellow brothers and sisters right now.

She's to submit herself to her husband as unto the Lord ... ”Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.“ ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬ There is no edict anywhere were the woman is told to bypass her husband, so instead, If she wants to win her husband she should do this ... ”Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; while they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.“ ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭6‬ And continue to pray ... ”Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.“ ‭‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬

She needs to respectfully disobey her husband and go to church. If her husband is unwilling to remain with her because she is a Christian then the believer is not bound in such situations. See 1 Corinthians 7

Dear heavenly father, I lift our sister in prayer. I pray, Lord, you would go before the heart of her stepfather exposing his heart of contemt towards his wife. I pray you will break down the darkness in his heart as well as comfort her mom in knowing that we do not fight against flesh and blood but the spirit behind them. I pray Lord for praise in the storm, peace in the spiritual battle and continue to know you already have the victory. In Jesus name, Amen

I walked away from the Lord for almost 10 years after the suicide of my husband…. When I walked away …. that’s when I saw God really working in my life. He came after me and pursued me like there was nobody’s business. It wasn’t a person that kept after me. It was God himself that constantly was involved with every aspect of my struggle. I totally get how being in the desert can make you stronger. And I believe that’s what happen with this gentleman. Good for him. God will use him to shed the light for many people that struggle.

Little testimony here. I've been a Christian for about 2 yrs now, I had never read the book of Genesis just a few chapters here and there about Joseph and Jacob but never the creation or anything else because I was terrified to dig into it. Most people are scared of revelation, and I'm over here scared about Genesis. The reason being, all the questions that may arise. I used to start Bible reading plans and drop them because I liked studying more than just reading. However, yesterday, I decided to finally start a reading plan because I feel like I need to have at least a general view of the topics covered in the Bible. I told myself I would just read and not stop too much. Well, Today I read the chapters 4-7 of Genesis. So many questions arose that I literally just closed the Bible and asked God to help me through. I remembered the deconstruction video as I was getting to the end of my reading because i know that when I have doubts instead of getting in my head, I must be patient and God will help me find answers like He has done before. I told myself I was just going to look for videos of men of God who have deeply studied Genesis to avoid going down a wrong road. I immediately open my youtube to go search some videos, and this video appears as "posted 11 minutes ago" right at the top and the title was literally how I was feeling at the moment❤ and the info given here made me feel more at peace in that aspect. Knowing I can have questions but I should not celebrate doubt and also know that God will help us through those dark times. Ultimately, Faith is the 🔑. Some stories may seem crazy to us but that doesn't change what God has done in our lives through Jesus. Those are experiences the devil can never rob us of, and those miracles He's done to pull us all out of darkness confirm His power today and forever. ❤

I've been in church pretty much my while life but it wasn't until I was in my 30's that I decided I need to read the word and know it for myself. I prayed and asked the Lord where do I begin and I heard in my spirit...start at the beginning so that's what I did. My mind was blown at the things I learned and what the Lord was showing me. I began to see Jesus from the very beginning in Genesis. Once I got through the Old Testament and into the New testament it just all connected to perfectly. I realized half of what I was taught in church was completely taken out of context. I enjoy listening to others teach but there's nothing like learning along with the Holy Spirit and Him teaching us.

I remember years ago when I was hanging on to my faith by my nails and I happened to read John 6: 66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked no more with Him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” 68 Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

I'm going through a lot and I haven't lost faith in Jesus but I have lost faith in ministers. Not my pastor but so many I used to listen to are so shallow and self centered. I used to attend Word of Faith churches and it didn't mix when I got breast cancer. I never blamed God or myself for the cancer but so many preach that my faith was weak because I wasn't miraculously healed. I fight within myself with the pain and depression over what I've lost but I am thankful to be alive. It's just been a rough couple of years but Jesus has been with me through each step of this journey.

I kinda understand how he feels. I accepted Jesus when I was little, but my life didn't reflect Him at all. I realized some years later that I was TERRIBLY wrong by living like this. And the doubts started to sprout "is it too late?" "Have I crossed the line?" And I mean, the doubts are totally justified. I know how God feels about people who keep persisting in a life of sin. However, I also know he is merciful, and he forgives a penitent sinner. But still, it's pretty hard! Sometimes, I get so discouraged that I feel like giving up... but I can't. I feel like the guy in the video. I can't leave Jesus. And I feel like that's not the answer, so I believe that the best answer is to hang onto Him.

I had these doubts. I was a very strong Christian and on more than one occasion, the stresses of life pulled me away into wilful sinning. I doubted I could be saved still. It brought depression and a panicky feeling to me. For years, off and on, I would get these times of deep doubt. I prayed hard asking God to comfort me in this. Well one day I prayed this and was randomly reading my Bible when I came on a passage in the gospel where Jesus tells a man, "Your sins are forgiven". Given I had just prayed on this, the passage stopped me, I asked God if He was trying to tell me something. Then I went on reading. The next day at church my pastor was preaching from a different gospel (meaning one of the Matthew, Mark, Luke, John gospels) and I was following along. There those red words came scrolling by again, " Your sins are forgiven". This time, I almost heard it in my inner ear. I knew at this point God the Holy spirit was comforting me and letting me know I am still His. I have had peace ever since. If I am still forgiven, I am sure you are too. Especially seeing as you are concerned about if you are or not. Those who are beyond saving, would not at all be concerned still (IMO). The Holy Spirit is there to comfort us while Christ is away. The convictions I continue to feel being laid on my heart one by one, shows me that God still loves me enough to discipline me. Please pray that God bring you comfort in your doubts, that he bring you discernment, that He convicts you and mounds you to be the person He wants of you...that He brings understanding and wisdom to you. Those who thirst for Righteousness will be filled ( as Christ spoke about on the service on the mount).God bless you.

The best thing would be asking Jesus to reveal His truth that the heart may be at rest. There is rest to be had in Jesus...not that you do not know so already...simply reminding and foremost the gospel of Jesus is rest. There are many gospels in the world but there is only one true gospel and Christ does give the much needed rest. For every person it will vary of how soon the rest comes and only God can answer that individually...as for having Jesus provide the rest needed, have come to the conclusion and believe it is Holy Spirit that gave the answer to the rest provided. Ever since the gospel of Jesus was presented and it became the prominent factor of my being, that is where over time; His timing, Holy Spirit revealed that being grounded on His foundation; His gospel of grace foundation, it is how self is provided the much needed rest. Knowing our identity in Christ matters so much and will result in life being less bumpy...even though there will always be trials yet being grounded on His true foundation does come with the rest needed as one walks through the valley of shadows, that fear of the surroundings does not consume. The surroundings is life in general, where in every direction there are voices that try to take one is all sorts of directions all in the same moment, and this goes especially in the religion sector. Religions have caused so much damage to so many and this is where many lose sight of when hearing about Jesus...the mind tends to want to run the other way and much of why it happens as such is because of at one point religion infiltrated the mind and done some sort of damage. It is why it is so important to be grounded on the correct gospel of Jesus because that is where Holy Spirit is allowed to work as He sees fit...not that Jesus can not work without us first being grounded on His true gospel because surely God can do all things in which ever way He sees fit and does not need our permission. Jesus seeks for His sons and daughters to be in a place that each person is giving Jesus the go ahead yet even though many christians do such yet by not being grounded on His foundation, Jesus first works on having the ungrounded be grounded on His foundation as it is the most important decision to be made. When we choose to believe Jesus saves by His grace alone and do not add our own self-righteous ways to hinder His plans for our lives, it is where Holy Spirit works in ways to help the mind grow as He knows to be good for His children and foremost provide the much needed rest for knowing Jesus is with the believer, inside the believer by His Spirit and at the same moment goes before the believer. Not saying this that it is not the case already, simply being a reminder and at the same time am being reminded myself and surely I need the reminder on the daily cause all around are christians whom try to give another gospel that has all sorts of downfalls. What am getting at is that focusing on the true gospel, that Jesus by His Spirit sees the heart knows what matters, He then proceeds with much more that His sons and daughters need daily but foremost is always being grounded on His gospel, which by being as such, there is much rest provided and words are not enough to describe the rest Jesus provides. I do not say this as I am anyone special cause I am not, simply a brother in Christ whom as found bread and is trying to offer all whom are hungry and this bread ( being Jesus' gospel of grace ) provides the filling that satisfies the mind, heart and soul. We all are in different spots as the being at rest in Christ but we all have one goal in mind and it is being in one accord with the true gospel of Jesus, the only gospel that saves and all glory being His alone cause on our own, we would not have a chance at eternal life in Jesus. Being grounded on the true foundation of Christ, it is the most valuable thing we can do for ourselves yet it is not us that grounds us but Christ in us and all because we believe His gospel of His grace being truth. So many christians will try setting people into some sort of hamster wheel that keeps going in circles and never able to step out...whereas the gospel of Jesus is made so simple by Christ that all whom hear could be saved and simply because of believing upon hearing and yet so many churches keep the flock in a bondage to the church and many churches do not provide the true saving grace gospel, which does free the soul, heart and mind. I understand why so many churches do what they do, keeping the people under their check that all along the way they are ensured to have people remain in their church and if one is examined, come to found out that out of fear they attend the church and have no idea of what the saving grace of Christ is. The depth of Christ is deep and wide, so there is much more to being a child of Christ but the fundamental part that matters above all else is being grounded on the saving grace foundation of Jesus and nothing to do with self, when it comes to salvation. As for the walk with Jesus, that comes afterwards but never is the walk with Jesus to be mixed and stuck in the same cup as salvation. The cup of salvation is solely based on what Christ has done for us and all glory is rightfully all His alone. So many christians confuse this and that is where the self-righteous spirit grows into something so ugly and deep that at some point the christian does not even know left from right... metamorphic speaking...the self-righteous spirit leads christians to lose sight of what matters and that is the saving grace of Christ. The rest in life will follow according to what Jesus knows is good for us, even though all along the way we make the choices of which paths to take...Jesus never tricks us or makes decisions for us, though He will always nudge us along the way that we would be kept safe...though if our building is not set on the correct and true gospel of Jesus' foundation, then the walk with Christ is far from what matters to Jesus and the walk in life can be all wonky because Jesus has His mind set on having the believer first be grounded on His saving grace foundation. Anyhow, praying that this makes sense and am not saying all this in direct as to being specifically for you...as I do not know the heart and only Jesus does, though I hope it give a perspective, as if it may be of help in someway, even if just simply reminding. Well, blessings and foremost Jesus be the way maker in all things and His comforting embrace supply the needed comfort for you and your loved ones.

This is encouraging to hear because we hear of so many stories from those who have deconstructed like they enjoy telling the world. They should had been like Bobby and not enjoying the doubts and going through the process. It should had been keeping them up at night. That makes me question some deconstruction stories that if you look at their life years later it was not really their questions, it was they wanted the restraints of the Holy Spirit off them so they could enjoy their sin again, is what it boils down to.

@@justin10292000 Um, yes. Yes, I can definitely be skeptical of the extremely poor evidence. Two answers to your second question: 1). @Crustee0
@Crustee0 3 месяца назад
@@LandonMetochoiexcept your alternative is way worse than your so claimed "bad evidence" of Jesus resurrection. Most history scholars agree on the fact that Jesus of the Bible did exist, and the account of the Bible is reliable as historical document regardless of one stance on its implied message (Jesus resurrection). I suggest you watch J. Warner Wallace on this, he is a cold-case detective and a former atheist that find the evidence of Jesus missing body to be sufficient, and resurrection is the most reasonable conclusion from the evidences. We as Christians ask the others who reject the message to provide alternative explanations, because as it stands our evidence for resurrection is way stronger than any other explanations. Those who persecutes Jesus followers at Jesus time could simply get Jesus dead body if they wanted to stop these supposedly "crazy" and even "heretical" for the Jews. This means very influential people like Pharisees and the Roman goverment. The skeptics arent new, they have been there since Jesus disciples time but none have really provided as strong of evidence that Jesus resurrection isnt real.

We dont have "all" the answers*. I think the Bible give us enough answer to come up with our own conclusion. Most people can use soap without understanding the chemical reaction that make soap clean our bodies. We have "faith" that the soap will clean our bodies, even though some of us could go in life without ever knowing how soap works. The world expect the bible to explain God like some scientific report before they can believe, like explaining how to boil water scientifically. Imagine trying to write step by step with chemical, physical explanation how to boil water to convince someone to do it, how crazy is that. Yet the world expect the Bible to do that, to explain every aspect of God which is infinitely more complex than a procedure of boiling water.

Yes, and that's why we as a Church should support our apologists as they disseminate the scripture. In our Western way of thinking, sometimes it is easy to prioritize intellectual satisfaction over the mystery of God. I am a Roman Catholic, but while discerning my denomination, I encountered Orthodoxy and their Orthodox phronema prioritizes the mystery of God as opposed to apologetics. This can definitely be helpful when it comes to doubt because our minds have finitude. God will always be a mystery, and it can be so freeing to just accept this even if we don’t know all of the answers. Now, don’t get me wrong! I love my Western culture and having deep intellectual curiosities. But sometimes it’s so nice to just let go of that, and let God take over. ✨ I like to fall into the mystery of God, and I’ve fallen so deeply in love with Him through this. ♥ I think things like, “I wonder what it was like for God to create me.” or “Would God find this thing that I did to be funny?” or “When God looks upon us, does He glow?” … just pure, innocent things like that. Kind of like having child-like faith when it comes to God’s great mysteries while still enjoying apologetics and philosophy. 🥰 Thank you for this wonderful talk, Melissa and Bobby! ✝

Having grown up, and coming to Christ at an early age, in a holiness-centric crucifixion-of-the-self home, my doubt originated around God's provision. I was taught that God would provide, but from what I saw, He wasn't. I didn't understand, and for some reason no church denomination I've been in teaches this, that the first step you take is on you, and only you, with what God has already provided (His creation, your brains), and with what He has already taught you (including Wisdom). Only after you take that first step will the Holy Spirit convict/urge you in evaluating that step and thus you have an obligation in taking a better next step. For me the Christianity life is a serendipitous existence with eternal future.

loved it. Jude came to mind right before he responded with Jude then noted John the Baptist……scripture is the living Word full of examples for us I’m thankful for the Word of God. I’ve had my doubts from time to time that is for sure. We also must remember we have an enemy that wants to sift us like wheat! I feel so bad for those who have “deconstructed” themselves out of the faith. those doubts are real and heavy remember and read Psalm 103 the Lord is merciful to those that fear him….he knows our frame and remembers that we are dust and his mercy is from everlasting to everlasting.

I’ve struggled with doubts in the past. I have always wanted my beliefs to have - as close as possible - a one to one correspondence with reality. I don’t want to believe anything that isn’t real; no matter how hard that might be on me. Because of this I looked into the arguments for and against Christianity for many years. Because of this I amended some things that I had previously held to, but I still came out as a Christian, and someone that believes the historical claims of Christianity and the idea of God existing as being more probable than not.

For anyone thinking of deconstructing: you can do it. Have the courage to step away from the church. Follow your doubts all the way and educate yourself. See how you can be a moral person and live a life driven by meaningful curiosity. You can do it.

It is true that no matter your beliefs or lack of, there is plenty that doesn't make sense or we simply lack the answers to our questions. However, I do think there is a different condition for agnostics and atheists in that many aren't necessarily looking for answers to our existence and are simply okay with we don't know and possibly can't know. Theists have their work cut out in trying to solve the unsolvable in order to maintain a belief in some kind of personal God that rewards and punishes in the afterlife. If death is truly the end, not much effort is required to accept that fate, but it is an ending many don't like even if true. The other problem that Christianity has is that it is fear based rather than love based, where even in your discussion there was concern/fear about the salvation part of the story. A skeptic looking to see if there is any validity to Christianity will not consider the damnation part because they only seek to make any sense out of the religion and even Bobby states there is plenty of crazy things in the bible that does not give confidence to skeptics and even Christians looking to deconstruct to see if they can rebuild something that does make sense.
@joshf2685
@joshf2685 3 месяца назад
I think deconstructing means something different to me than to others. I had a crisis of faith years ago, I had to reexamine a lot of what I had believed about Christianity because of that. I would not have a problem calling that process deconstructing. I came through that process with a different “faith” but I would say it’s more a different understanding of Christianity but still within the family of faith. I did a ton of reading about the early church, authorship of the Bible, reading the books of the NT in a real sit down and read the whole book style. I’ll have to look into Bobby’s story as I might have gone through a similar process.

Bravo!!! Bobby is the first one I ever heard to suggest that we get rid of the "essentials". The mantra "In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity" sounds inclusive, but out is not. It shuts down open discourse. Unity in the essentials is reequired. I challenge that the things you questioned were "the difficult questions", as difficult as they were for you. The hard questions are the ones that challenge the core beliefs of the Evangelical movement. One example is that the majority of statements of faith include text whereby we are to obey all that scripture requires. Consider this: The Bible contains the law of sin and death and all its requirements. The Bible also contains the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus and all its requirements. The second law made us free from the first. The two laws are incompatible - do we require an eye for an eye, or do we do unto others as we would have them do unto us. (one of many examples) Are we to stone the adulterer? What about Thou shalt not kill (law of sin and death) and sacrifice your son on the altar (law of the Spirit of life). The last one is wild, and if you don't understand it, you don't understand the ministry of life. See 2 Corinthians 3. This conflict can be managed by saying that the Bible tells us which ones to obey, yet in the same statements of faith, they feature the great commandment, the law of sin and death, where you are to do everything with all your heart, soul, mind and strength - everything but the Spirit. They do not even give honorable mention to the new commandment, the law of the Spirit of life, where you are to everything by the Spirit, apart from your heart, soul, mind and strength. They feature the ministry of death and neglect the ministry of life, which is the epitome of another gospel, beginning in the Spirit and continuing in the flesh. These are the questions that, when asked, get you thrown out of the assembly - don't come back. End of discussion. You are not allowed to talk to any of our members or regular attenders - we don't care that your wife is a member. Evangelicals totally get communion backwards. They want you to get worthy before taking communion instead of taking it worthily - bow your heads and get right with God. And that is only the beginning. The complete Evangelical body of doctrine is a train wreck, a house of cards. Pull one thread and everything unravels. In my book there are two absolutes: the Bible is inspired, and if my interpretation of the Bible is inspired, then all contradictions are resolved. As long as you are not willing to question your essentials, you will constantly face contradictions because your essentials are not inspired. Your allegiance is to a statement of faith, not the Bible. You handle conflicts in scripture by managing them, not resolving them. And as long as you keep managing the conflicts, there will always be the naive willing to say what they see - that the king has no clothes. I am just making an observation. I am not questioning your salvation. I read the Matthew 12:37 as saying that it is what is in your account that matters, not what is in your head. I also do not question your sincere search for the truth. We do not have to get it right to be saved - thank God. See you in heaven. Looking forward to having interesting discussions there. God Bless.

I think most of us have struggled with doubts so struggling with doubts and questions from a humble heart is normal. I did not come to Christ through the intellect and I am assuming most of us did not come to Christ through the intellect but the gospel convicted our conscience. We had to see sin the way God sees sin to be convicted to lead us to Christ the Lord and Saviour. Later I did study the apologetics of the bible I got heavy into apologetics and came to believe we are not believing by blind faith we have strong evidence on our side. I hope I do not offend apologist by saying this but I have some thick apologetics books but I always went to the bodily resurrection first. The resurrection is the linchpin. If the Resurrection be not true then we my as well pack it in because nothing else matters there is no need to go any further. But if the Resurrection is true then the domino's start to fall that gives huge credibility to everything else Jesus said and did and the OT. I always tell skeptics and friends to start at the Resurrection first and work backwards from there. Its because the more you dig into the evidence of the Resurrection the more skeptics will see this could possibly be true. The bodily Resurrection is very solid tight. Once I looked at the evidence all the other apologetics topics seemed to fade in the background. Do I still have unanswered questions? YES!..and I am ok with that because my faith does not hinge on my unanswered questions. I was convinced of the Resurrection of Christ. Like I said I already had received the gospel of salvation but the evidence for the Resurrection shored up my faith. So basicly all the work apologist have done and massive thick books I give God the glory but I went no further than the Resurrection. After I was convinced of the Resurrection my other questions did not seem to matter that much.

I didn't go through doubt, but I have experienced a really painful experience with my faith, and when I say painful, I mean painful. I was deep into an ED at the time and getting deeper into it. Weightloss was what I lived for. I'd drifted from my faith, but I was into audiobooks and I started the Chronicles of Narnia, which reminded me of my faith. I felt I had to pray about my situation. Which I did, but it felt like I had to pray some more and no matter how many times I prayed, it wasn't enough. It really felt like God was beating me up and If I prayed enough, he would stop. I started to think that this wasn't from God, but from the Devil, as felt God wouldn't torture me like that. Eventually I ran away from, my faith to get away from the torture. I didn't think about it, read about, talk about it, would redirect any conversation that touched on it. That brought me instant relief. In time I started ED recovery and took a fresh interest in my faith again. Once I'd let go of my unrepentant sin ( the ED) it didn't hurt anymore. The truth was, while I was willing to pray, I wasn't willing to trust God and stop hurting myself with a lack of food. I wasn't willing to stop worshipping weight loss. I don't know what happened, a spiritual attack, the result of severe cognitive dissonance, was it from God and I just wasn't listening and doing what he was actually asking of me, so he kept asking? Because I knew what I should do, but there was no way I was doing that.

I was recently struggling with doubts a few weeks ago. I currently teach children’s Sunday school and lead a youth Bible study. I re-read Paul’s writings and the physical requirements made me question whether I’m living out my faith or not. The sections where it talks about head coverings, Jewelry, woman not trimming their hair or wearing braids, woman not speaking in the church etc. Am I missing something in my faith? Am I not reading the text correctly? Is every word in the biblical text actually God breathed, including all of Paul’s recommendations 🤷🏻‍♀️ 😢I get what Bobby meant when he said that doubting can be painful.

Studying Biblical womanhood has been eye opening for me. I am a former tomboy and US Navy veteran. I was very un-feminine. After watching Paul Washer preach on Biblical womanhood and now I listen to pastor Brett Meador in Athey Creeks ministry (they have a women's study too) I learned how powerful actually being the women God created me to be is. How God man and women so different, with different roles to fulfill, but very much equal. I also have come to understand personal convictions and how the Holy spirit guides us through the word of God and the convictions. Please pray for decrement, wisdom, convictions, understanding, and then study what bothers you.... what you feel you don't understand. This might actually be a conviction God is laying on your heart. Only you can know this though... it might not be a conviction. If you thirst fur righteousness, you will be filled! God bless.

There are certain truths that people can know without fully understanding everything about the truth. For example, we know a car can transport us from point A to point B without actually understanding the nitty gritty of how a car works. I think similar things occur with religious belief. You can know you feel better worshiping a God, you can know certain biblical principles work in your life, you can know you appreciate fellowship and communion with others. Things like that are enough for many people to maintain their Christian faith. It is only when you get into the heavy details of the religion that doubt arises and the question becomes can you gain a better understanding like you can with the specifics of how a car works or is it truly an error you are looking at. Then it becomes do you stay in the shallow end of the Christian pool to maintain belief or do you dare to investigate to a point that has shattered many people's faith and hope you are not one of them.

They get everybody's mind off of Jesus and onto themselves and their own faith. How they strive to build up their faith and make themselves strong. Instead of just kneeling beside their bed and asking Jesus for mercy and strength, healing and protection, forgiveness and wisdom. Petitioning Him for all their needs, and simply trusting Him with their life and soul. It's not about how strong we are and how much faith we can drum up. Simply ask. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Christianity does really make sense if you truly live it. I mean, truly live it according to the Bible. Not legalistic nor as a radical, but because you truly love Jesus just like Jesus loved His Father to carry out His will, even though He asked His Father three times if all possible to take this cup from me and to find another way, but not my will, but your will be done, when He walked among His people over 2000 yrs ago. It's all about the attitude of whether you love God or not.

Is it even possible anymore for a Christ follower to learn important things through a common, though unsettling, life experience and just tell about it? Is it necessary to write and market a book about it? God wrote a book, and it's a pretty good one. I guess He put in there what we need.

Bad things happen because people do have free will. People choose to do evil things and it hurts innocent people. I don't understand how people do the things they do but I cannot blame God for what people do. We live in a sinful world and we aren't promised that bad things won't happen to us because we love Jesus. Actually Jesus tells us that we will face hard times and troubles. Some things we just can't answer because we can't fully know all the why's.

The question about eternal security... Once saved always saved.. From the Bible and not from what i'm hearing my opinion... John 3:16 read it carefully... "Has eternal life" and that is at the point of when one believes. Next Phil 1:6 He who began a good work will perfect it... Would ask is salvation a work of man the man is able to choose to accept Christ or is it God's work i.e. Eph 1:3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4) even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5) he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, So is one's salvation a work of man or a work of God? And if by man, were you there before the foundation of the world, or ever better man told God what to think... Reminds me of the "God created man, man returned the favor by creating God...?"

I think the moral of the story is, never put your faith in the writings or traditions of men (other than the Prophets and Apostles), but trust the anointing you've been given. Melissa, Bobby or any Trinitarian, can you find one verse in Scripture where a person must believe in a Godhead of three co-equal, inseparable persons (a Trinity), in order to receive eternal life? Why do the Apostles state it is antichrist to deny the Father and Son only; instead of proclaiming it is the denial of three persons (the Trinity) that is antichrist?

the crazy in the bible is what validates that we are dealing with the creator of the universe, if it was all "normal" things, then that would just be a normal day that wouldn't be remembered forever. The crazy stuff happening that shouldn't happen, validates the power and control over reality that only the one true God has. Seas don't split so millions of people could cross at the last minute, that wild nature shows complete power over natural laws. Finding evidence of the crazy things actually happening is what matters, if it did all happen, then we can know God as he validates his nature and authority over all.

I went through time where I thought the problem of suffering was demonstrably overpowering to Christianity, and then a simple realization helped me diffuse it.

How is the problem of evil not a problem? We're talking extreme evil with an extremely powerful God and he's also supposed to be extremely loving. Sure you can justify a tiny bit of suffering maybe, or if you make God very weak, or make him evil. But with all the things present, it makes no logical sense. Oh and he also designed everything. Death is not the only answer to sin by the way. God's answer to every problem always seems to be death...

@@Volleyball_Chess_and_Geoguessr First of all, I am certainly not trying to dismiss the real and horrific suffering. If I could stop that suffering now, I would. This is purely a philosophical thought experiment. You say that we could justify a little bit of suffering, and my realization came from that idea. If we really can justify a little bit of suffering, imagine that sort of world. Imagine a world where the worst suffering is from stubbing toes once a week or something. In that world, people might begin to question why God could allow so much suffering. Think about it, stubbing toes would literally be the worst suffering to the people in that world. So if we can justify that, then it is not logically impossible that there is a loving God in this world. I don't have much evidence to say that there is such a loving being, but I also cannot prove the negation.

Do we lose our salvation if we switch from pre trib to post trib? He comes at the Last Trump and on the Last day and every eye will see Him coming in the clouds 1 Corinthians 15 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the Last Trump: for the Trumpet Shall Sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. Revelation 1 7 Behold, he cometh with Clouds; and Every Eye shall see him, and they also which Pierced him: and All kindreds of the earth shall Wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. At The Last Trump Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon Me whom they have Pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn John 19:37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water 1 Corinthians 15 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the Last Trump: for the Trumpet Shall Sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. He is coming unexpectedly as a thief. The timing is unexpected but it sure isn't quiet or sneaky. Every Eye shall see Him and there is great noise.

Ik u prob seek answer from Melissa, but if i can throw in my 2 cents. Yes it is blasphemous. Jesus Himself said that a "helper" will come, and the most unforgivable sin is denying the Holy Spirit so many times that your heart truly hardens. Then you wont be able to believe in God, as even faith is not our work, but God's through the Holy Spirit that is within each of us. Our work is seeking God, our faith will grow by the work of Holy Spirit within us. And remember Holy Spirit is God, so why would you not worship God? Thats similar as denying Jesus is God, which sounds silly to me, now I think I should have asked you this before my explanation lol.

I would love to see those reasons for not worshipping the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is part of the trinity, and so is God. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't worship the Holy Spirit. Why do people not seem to get apologetics is not about being saved, is not about faith? Sure it can make God known, that is, you can know about God by arguments and reason. But about is not knowing personally. If what you have doesn't go beyound intellect, its no wonder you would suffer with doubt. Faith is a gift that comes from an encounter with GOD. No its nothing like going to the dentist or bording a plane. Doing those things is about reason not relationship. God is real, He is a person, and He wants to spend time with those He loves. They long for Him and that longing is answered. People asking occasionally why hasn't God spoken to me? I can only guess the one ....calling.... isn't, because if so, He would answer. Call on Him and call until you encounter Him.

I have come to the conclusion that you can argue with people until the cows come home, but it is extremely hard to argue someone into the Christian faith. There is always someone who can put a counter argument. I've always been told and have read that it is the Holy Spirit who works in the heart to bring about conversion. I became a Christian during a Christmas service. The speaker said something that just suddenly hit me really hard and made me realise I was lost. I had heard all the arguments on both sides on many occasions, and it just went over my head. It was that moment in Church that did it. The process begun a little earlier. I wasn't interested in Church. My brother was a Christian and regular attender but not me. Then one day, I just had the feeling, out of the blue, that I should go. It was a really strong urge. So I went along to a youth meeting. It didn't mean anything and nothing really happened at that point, but I guess a seed had been planted. Gradually I started thinking that maybe there was an afterlife and eventuality I went to this Christmas service. Then the speaker said those words and totally changed me. It was all revelation from the Spirit.

I do know that twice in the word of God it says that we are not to be ignorant of the fact that a thousand years is like a day to God. Well, when the serpent was deceiving Eve he said that surely she wouldn't die as God told them they would. God told then they would die in that day if they ate of the tree. Well, they lived for many years after so how is that possible? Well, not one human lived beyond a 1,000 years. I say all this because, I am coming to believe there is a 7,000 year plan for man kind. Why will Christ reign for 1,000 years here on Earth? Why is Satan bound for those thousand years and then released and defeated? To me, it sounds like the sabbath day arrives (where the Earth rests under Christs reign and when the sabbath is over, then Satan is dealt with for the final time. I could very much be wrong on this but I am continually trying to learn about this myself. Does any of this make sense to you and your understanding of the word?

Faith must be in Jesus and not in getting money and miracles and healings or in tongues. Faith is not trying to muster up enough brain power to achieve your fleshly desires and signs amd wonders, money or healings. No. Faith is believing in Jesus and obeying Jesus. Repentance and belief/trust in Jesus go hand in hand. You can't separate them. You can't repent without belief in Jesus and you can't believe without repenting. They are both the gift of God. Granting repentance unto life is the same thing as granting faith. A gift to be received. Repentance includes turning from evil to faith/obedience to Jesus. Many Christians try to say that the gift of faith and salvation does not include repentance or that repentance is only mental assent and has nothing to do with turning away from evil and dead works and surrendering in obedience to Jesus. But look at these verses. Repenting from evil does not save you but it does happen when one puts their faith in Jesus and is born again. It just results from the new nature. Repentance is a gift that comes with the measure of faith that is given to every person upon their believing in Jesus. Those who do not repent do not truly believe. Are the following verses just mental assent or are they referring To deeds/behavior? Revelation 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent Ezekiel 18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord God. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God
