Spooktacular story! This could also explain why we haven't seen Thomas' special coach after the events of the Twin Engines, and Donald and Douglas being given a fright by it before realizing what really happened, as well as giving Gordon a taste of his own medicine.

Dear mr truck I have an idea for you, you know that story you wrote about the ghost engine in great waterton perhaps the reason he was so attached to his tender is because it’s the only way he can be brought back, let’s say if a new engine were to be built while coupled to the tender the new engine would obtain the spirit and consciousness of the old engine. It’s just an idea but I figured maybe you could adapt this into a story somehow I feel it would make for an interesting tale

That would be interesting. A writer could call it Three Lessons Learnt. The diesels learn how stupid it is to make fun of steam engines when ghost steamers torment them
