Yet more footage of the Galloping Garratt, shot during the shuttles in Bathurst and Orange with CFCLA C 502 assisting. The weather was abysmal during the Bathurst week-end, but at least the weather improved during the Orange week-end.
Nice footage Steve, didn't see old Hughie making sure no train nutters trespassed on his land at Tumulla. Guess you sheltered in the pub at Perthville out of the rain? Great capture at Wombiana crossing, impressive, indeed a grand day out Steve.
G'day Dave, No time to shelter in the Perthville pub, the train was not far behind when I screamed into the pub car park. Had to wipe over the video camera later to remove the drizzle. Yep, a swag of gunzels were amassed at Tumulla. Steve.
G'day EMDC501, I chased the diesel hauled train from Goulburn as far as Stockinbingal in miserable weather. C502 leading S311 and 6029. I had hoped to get more footage on the way north to Parkes, but S311 failed a couple of times delaying the train. I next encountered the train at Orange again in miserable weather. HL203 being used on the shuttles at Dubbo. But, C502 resumed on the Bathurst shuttles and final Orange shuttles. C502 did make some noise dragging the train west out of East Fork Orange to Molong. I also recorded digital audio of that climb up the 1 in 40 near Racecourse Road. Yes, the hogger blew them Leslies for the level crossing. Steve.
I have had an earwig of me digital audio of C502 dragging the soot belcher up the 1 in 40 at Racecourse Road Orange. The hooters sound more like Nathans than Leslie. But, I am definitely not an expert on Mexican EMD things. I agreed with the union in the mid 1980s when yer C class attempting to encroach into NSW were banned as lead unit. Way too ear ache and draughty in the cab. C504 and another one arriving at Delec in smog hollow for crew evaluation. And for some reason, C504 appeared at LMC in Lithgow in 1992. I can only presume that it was going or had been to Clyde at Kelso. s3.amazonaws.com/rrpa_photos/50934/Vline%20C504%20LMC%2012%20feb%2092.JPG Steve.
