Just moved to Valencia region, 4 months here love it. Seems to me meat is high quality prices are very affordable( I'm from the Netherlands) friendly people and great standard of living

About the tarta de abuela it appears that there's a chocolate tablet or container named abuelita that is used for chocolate. Maybe that's why they named the desert tarta de abuela. Wikipedia Abuelita is a chocolate tablet, syrup, or powdered mix in individual packets, made by Nestlé and used to make Mexican-style hot chocolate, also known as chocolate para mesa.

The empty shell is used as a tool to remove the mussels from the other shells, use it like a clamp

Interesting the main is served with just one side, here in wales we nearly always have at least two sides, I like the choice of wine, will look out for the same when we visit Torremolinos in march 👍

Arroz Caldoso is very flavoursome . Potatoes look like packet to me . I don’t usually like pollo a la brasa or any other meat a la brasa either , as I find it dry and tasteless, but maybe chicken thigh ( muslo) is juicier so it could be ok . Your choice of wine is good . Ramon Bilbao is a nice wine and one of my favorites but I love LAN wine as well , and some others , not quite as expensive , I find very palatable. .

You should have seen your own face when looking into the box of thd 'entré' - btw we ate lunch together, as I took my lunch at the same time as watching your video :-) I fried some onions - and champignons - added some former frozen spinach and redbeet ( just a little of each for the sake of my health :-) - and last the precooked (MW) vegetables (carrot+leek+cauliflower+brussel sprouts+potato) - I let it all get to the same temperature, added (a lot of) curry and lastly coconut milk as a form of sauce :-) Buon appetite !!

In Fuerteventura at least it is very unusual to have a plate for the bread, you simply put it on the table while eating (not on the side of your mains plate). The true traditional places do not give you plates for tapas - you take it from the plate it's served on. Prices seem to be more expensive where you are to here, especially for wine

We cant believe the volume of plastics the restaurant delivered to your house. Obviously, they should be reused several times and then recycled but we truly need to reexamine how we're re using such pollutuing material because we are imply unble to keep up with all the recycling that such plastic packaging necessitates! It looks like we will need to find better materials than that for sure and rapidly at that!

In a rustic environment or farm the bread will go on the table but any other place, the bread always on a basket, plate or chopping board

Stuart Talk about Non Resident Tax for less than 6 months on property. If you go out of Spain for 2 days does your stay still count. If you stay for 6 months and 1 week does the Non Resident still apply 😉 thanks

The arroz caldosa sounds delicious, but the mashed potatoes looked too sloppy to me. Tarta del abuela looked wonderful and an enormous portion too.

Stuart, good wine selection. Much better than the wine typically offered with a Menu del dia. So harsh you have to add gaseosa to it to take the edge off it!!! As for my favorite wines, Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorats please!!
