Please keep K2 and other big mining out -- I really want to visit the new American Hotel some day! Thank you Brent for keeping the history of Cerro Gordo alive
Yea, this video missed out on that critical piece about K2 mining. Maybe the news of K2 developed after they put the story together. All we can do now is to encourage those watching this now to write to blm. You can find the links in ghost town living channel.
My biggest worry for Brent is not climbing around in the mines, but what K2 Mining higher powers may do to harm him so they can carry on with their own selfish mining plans. Be safe Brent!
@@sailingsolar mining operations have an extremely poor history of properly containing their poison, so if they mine and when their containment fails it'll be straight to all major water sources of the SW including the colorado river
@Ambassador Of Kickyourassador we're more concerned with the environmental impacts that will last forever, the land all around cerro gordo will be trash forever, mountains don't just regrow over night! I know you already think 5he land is trash but the history must be preserved to remind future generations not to make the same selfish mistakes of the past...
One of the best channels on RU-vid. SAVE CERRO GORDO and the surrounding desert from environmental devastation from K2 mining by a Canadian strip mining company!!!
I visited Cerro Gordo this week - it has a special magic that has to be experienced in person. Brent truly is living his dream and it will be remarkable to see how the project ultimately turns out. And as a fair warning to anyone who visits: that road to get there is no joke!
@Ambassador Of Kickyourassador So you wanna bring slavery and whaling back? Both have museums which educate about it, not brag about it. Embassador of the ignorant is more like it.
@Ambassador Of Kickyourassador I see you spamming every comment with copy and paste. People can enjoy the facts of World War without wanting another one, same with any histoy
I've been following Brent and Cerro Gordo for almost a year now on RU-vid. His journey has been truly inspiring and has really carried so many of his followers like myself and my husband through the pandemic. He's also taught us to follow our own dreams, and remains an inspiration today.
@@marywegrzyn506 he’s fighting the presence of foreign interests mining in America. He has to change a law that says they can mine here & PAY NO TAXES! Why don’t you help him?
Yay, Brent! 😀 I've been following him on his adventures for a year and have learned more than any history channel. Sending you a ghost hug. 👻 You can't see it or feel it but it's there. 🤭
It’s pretty crappy the sellers would sell you a piece of property knowing they were going to lease the surrounding property to some strip mining outfit out of Canada at a later date just to further feather their pockets and knowing it would completely destroy this historic ghost town. I guess jealousy got the best of them seeing how Brent’s popularity has grown and the money he is bringing in through his RU-vid followers…
@@commieskungflu1635 A major Canadian mining company, K2, has leased a number of mining claims all around the town, and are planning to create a massive open pit cyanide mine surrounding it. They’re basically planning to blow up all the mountains surrounding it
Nice to see CBS covering this beautiful and historic area and respecting this unique endeavor. My question is, why they left out the part about K2 mining , a Canadian Company, poised to strip the area of its mineral resources using toxic Cyanide. Why CBS would do this story now, after all these years and leave the Elephant in the room OUT seems suspicious. I wonder if K2 got to CBS with some $ to cut that part out, because there’s no other ‘newsworthy’ reason for the timing of this story other than the threat from K2
Been watching Brent for quite awhile now. He's an amazing young man with big dreams and the ability of saving this big part of mining history for all, present and future generations!.. This is Cerro Gordo! Population 1 and many loyal companions. Much love to Brent❤
Brents channel is unbelievably awesome. I look forward to seeing his next video before the most recent episode is over. What he is doing to the town is amazing.
Please help this guy, been following his RU-vid channel for about a year… He’s a good man and has a claim of rights! But he faces a Goliath (needs donations to fight)
This Area has a rich history telling the tale of indigenous Native Americans, It is also home to the world OLDEST trees, (Bristlecone pines) these are federally protected, these will suffer,
@Ambassador Of Kickyourassador please elaborate more on how cerro gordo destroyed owens lake and Owens valley, I’m not disagreeing, I would like to learn more, thank you for your comment 💖
@@plankface I have no idea. You might try checking out his RU-vid channel and see if he explains what happened. It’s still an incredible place. And he’s trying to get rentable housing up there so he can make some money. If he gets the hotel rebuilt, I told him that my son and I would bring up the beer for the celebration. (My son is a home brewer who has a magic touch with brewing.)
His channel is awesome. His philosophy on life in that town and the perspective he has is as much of a draw for me to watch as seeing what adventure he's going to get himself into next:-)
Ambassador Of Kickyourassador ...it’s obvious you know little to nothing and remain childlike in your ignorance of the worlds corrupt operations systems. I’ll bet you think the government loves and protects you too. YOU grow up.
@@Gfysimpletons #SAVECERROGORDO He is in danger but not from us, everyone has an open invitation to visit cerro gordo he just asks you email him first! Its K2 mining trying to come destroy the history and environment of the area with an open pit cyanide gold mine! #SAVECERROGORDO
This is so awesome for Brent! For those of you who do not know him (yet) - I highly recommend following his channel, "Ghost Town Living". You will come to care about Cerro Gordo as much as he does! Rock on, Brent!
@@sirpainter1 I guess anything is possible but K2 has been at this for a long time and it’s been in the news since early this year. Everyone in town knows. It’s not something new. The timing of the story and obvious omission of K2 seems fishy considering it’s now the public comment period is all I’m saying.
The Restoration of Owens Lake and Owens River has seen the biggest inland shorebird migration, on the Great Atlantic bird Migration, Entomologists can verify that the highest numbers being recorded this year,
There are Endemic species in the area, there are protected species of endangered bats, and amphibians in the White Mountains and Inyo Mountains- of California,
Thanks for adding 'modern rules and regs' with a touch of reality and how far we've advanced.. I love this story and wish Brent every level of success..
Do you have links or references, as Cerro Gordo is being endangered by potential large cyanide strip mining operations. The BLM is only taking comments till Aug 30th. Anything that could stop or slow the process would probably be helpful. 💜🌎✌️😎
I hope more people can reach out to Brent and help him keep this amazing historical town alive and well, he's given it all to this place and this is an amazing cause to help support
I think I have him beat almost two years on a remote island in Alaska still trying to get home to Thailand. Almost froze to death last winter it was lovely. Most would not last a day here. Brent and I have a lot in common. ALONE!
I hear ya, I can't imagine how hard it is. I watch that show, people living in Alaska an how hard they have it. U have my up most respect an ur right, some people in the lower 48 wouldn't last but a few days me included! It's beautiful I would love to visit Alaska but wouldn't wanna live there! With covie going on an all these mad mandates ur in a better place they we are. It's crazy u could be in the last place in America away from government reach. If people don't stick together were in trouble which seems hysterical as I'm writing this because people don't want to stick together. I'm not sure we ever have! It just hasn't been so crucial as it is right now! Best wishes I hope u get home soon heads up u have to get the 💉 before u can fly.
This is one of my favorite series on RU-vid and I love the idea of showcasing the history of this place! It’s been over a year and I can’t believe how incredible it’s been since it’s come from day one!
There's countless lives being played out in very ordinary ways and that's fine. However, I deeply admire those who choose the path of an Outlier and basically live a completely different way. Godspeed, Luke.
Don't forget to send a comment to the BLM by Aug 30th to hopefully prevent K2 from cyanide strip mining the surrounding mountains. #SaveCerroGordo 💚🏞️🦌 #PreservePublicLands 🌎
One of the best channels in RU-vid history! I have fallen in love with Brent's vision and efforts, and will be sure to visit one day. Who knows, maybe I'll get to lend him a hand with something. To anyone who reads this comment: If you visit Cerro Gordo, please be kind and respectful.
And don't forget to go to the links in the video about K2 Mining. Send comment supporting Cerro Gordo and the surrounding wilderness preservation to the BLM before Aug 30th! #SaveCerroGordo 💚🏞️🦌 #PreservePublicLand 🌎
Definitely one of the fastest growing channels on RU-vid, without question! 👍 He started his channel in 2019, and has already surpassed 1 Million subscribers, and it's continuing to grow exponentially right now, as we speak. I can watch his newest video and notice he's passed 1.1 Million, and by the next weeks video it's gained another 100,000 more at LEAST. There's something to be said, he's clearly doing something right. As far as increasing his online popularity. Whatever it is, whether people like Brent himself, or they enjoy the whole, "get away from the World," aspect, or the mine explorations, history research in real-time, it was most definitely a good investment, on his part. I've been a subscriber myself since I first stumbled upon his channel, and it's one of the few I would recommend to just about anybody in my family or friends. No question about it. Besides, what else is there to do during this unique once-in-a-century worldwide Pandemic anyway?! Basic,, fundamental escapism, Amirite?!? ✌
Brent, congrats on finding your self. I'm in Austin again. I've lived here four times. You wouldn't believe Austin these days. Since the high tech industry moved in, the ranches are now growing schools and 7/11s. They don't even say, "Keep Austin weird" any more. Sad. I think everybody who moves here brings three cars.
Brent is a fantastic human, he is so passionate about Cerro Gordo and it's history, if you haven't checked out Ghost Town Living yet, you really must! Cerro Gordo is the only place in The US that I was to visit.
Hi, I have been following Brent since day one and I think he is so cool !! So hard working n creative !! He spent all his life savings on buying the town n now a Canadian Co. had bought land near Cerro Gordo n are going to turn it all into a huge Pit. He needs help saving the land n stopping this Canadian Co. from destroying all the land forever.
OMGosh... I just learned about this town. What an adventure for your life. I will subscribe to your UTube channel to live vicariously thru you for this experience. Blessings
Check out his recent video about the mining company that wants to cyanide to strip mine the surrounding area. He included links to post supporting comments to the BLM, which has to be done by Aug 30th. If you want this amazing place preserved, please do what you can and share this info. #SaveCerrGordo 💚✊ #PreserveOurPublicLand 🏞️🌎
Brent is a real good guy. Been watching since day 1 and can't wait to volunteer some time out there. Thank you for interviewing him and raising more awareness to his cause.
With the popularity of "overland" travelling, and this town's location just outside Death Valley, this isn't a bad business plan. Brent should get in touch with the folks at Backcountry Discovery Routes.
@@GhostTownLiving I wondered if you know the BDR "executives" who run website and develop trails. They seem like some solid folks. Most are volunteers for that matter. I think the sheer popularity of BDR routes is one of the best ways to help preserve places like Cerro Gordo. I'm looking forward to stopping by your place some day.
YOOOO. I am so surprised to see Brent and Cerro Gordo getting MUCH needed attention right now. I have been following since about 20k subs. A long and awesome road, I hope to visit one day!
Hello everyone who watches this video Cerro Gordo is in danger. The issue at hand is that all the work Brent has been doing to bring this town back to life is in danger because of a mining company from Canada, K2 Gold. K2 gold is looking to strip the natural beauty of the area
Not yet. K2 mining wants to do cyanide strip mining in the surrounding mountains. Not sure why it wasn't mentioned in this story, but Brent has video w/links on his channel. Comments to the BLM must be in by Aug 30th. Let's stop this like the leases that were stopped in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. #SaveCerroGordo 💚🏞️🦌 #PreservePublicLands 🌎
I love Brent's channel and have been watching almost from the start. Thank you for highlighting t!! he is the reason it works! A great story teller and growing, learning new things all the time! A wonderful example!
If you noticed Brent and the guy from CBS were wearing heavy coats for this video shoot. Not UNCOMMON for tv stations and networks to film something months earlier and then play the video at a later date. So, while it is AUGUST 2021 now, the video looks like it could have been shot in February or March when it was a little chilly out. That being said, there was no way to UPDATE the video to include the threat to the town from this Canadian mining company. CBS probably scheduled the piece to run on their SUNDAY MORNING show on 8/22 months ago. I worked in the media and television for many years and know how the networks operate. Best of luck to Brent to shut down the mining companies attempts at destroying the area with a new open pit mine. He should get HISTORICAL STATUS as soon as possible on the entire town if not done so already?
Keep in mind that these people that just showed up had passed many "No Trespassing" signs. He has stated many times that he doesnt want people just showing up.
@Ambassador Of Kickyourassador , I thought you old people were all for appreciating and preserving history? I guess your selfishness got in the way of that, huh?
I am already a fan, and am so glad to see this showing up here. The popularity of his site is impressive. Brent, keep up the great work. I hope to be able to visit someday.
I love Brent, Cerro Gordo, and the RU-vid channel. His story telling and advise has gotten better the more videos he makes. I hope to visit it in the future.
Imagine my horror of seeing this story on Sunday Morning, going to RU-vid and binge watching, and then find out about K2 mining! Can not believe what I’m seeing. Only in America. Every thing in USA is for sale. No respect for anything or anybody 🤬
Check out the links in Brent's video. Send a comment to the BLM. The more people that stand up for this amazing site and area the better. Perhaps we should even contact Deb Haaland, the new head of the Dept of Interior. The leases on the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge were stopped; maybe we can stop this, too. #SaveCerroGordo #PreservePublicLands 💚🌎
I have been in a similar situation I was caretaker of a castle Gothic revival Castle for over 3 years and you feel honoured to look after the place - you feel the same!!!
He goes to Lone Pine to get food. Check out his youtube channel, Ghost Town Living to see more! Also, the town is in danger, check his latest video for more info!
Good luck to him but going into those mines on your own is foolish. One slip and you have a broken leg and no one to help you. Use some common sense and live longer.
Love Brent and his channel ghost town living. So nice seeing someone so passionate about American history. Love it and all the things he does. I can’t wait to see the hotel rebuilt!!
