Love this. As junior coordinator for my club I can say that you have some very talented youngsters. If they ever fancy a tour of the South Coast, Poole Town CC would give them a game.

Everybody can see you’ve got some aspiring talent in the Sanderstead junior section but i was just as impressed with your opponent’s. It was admirable to see them dig in and keep it going even when it became obvious that a humiliating defeat was inevitable. Full marks to both the coaches.

Agreed - it’s not easy to take a pasting, but the younger players tend to accept it better than most. For them it’s the game more than the result.

Bisuits, biscuits, biscuits....controversially a Fig Roll for me. Good to see the Sanderstead U14 playing so strong;ly; and the Pink ball in use. Much better for older eyes to follow on after evening/school games. No such luck in my sons Essex U13 20/20 presently. Dodging unseen balls abounds!

Thanks Mike - hope all well. Yes, Luca Rees is something else - lot of power and timing for a 13 yr old! The ground is looking its best ever - thanks to Keysey, Matt H and a band of volunteers who roll, mow and keep the covers on and off. Everything’s on the up…..

Chocolate hob-nobs, the king of biscuits, has been de throned by those fiends at M&S who have wrapped copious amounts of choc around a custard cream. Downside is only 6 in the packet and addictive. Back to the future and the prospects look good. Junior Biffage on show. Is alcohol free pilgrim available for the U14s?

Great game from the lads. Some very promising talent there. Reminds me of the 1989 u.14A team of the Paul Roos Gymnasium I coached. Undefeated season and great lads one and all. Proud to still have many of them as friends.

Our lawyers have been all over this since the Longcock/Derek “incident “ from 2018 when they nearly came to blows over Jaffa Cakes - they are cakes, not biscuits! Whereas cookies are indeed biscuits. Hope this helps…

Well, seeing that very, very, very fine leg being deployed for a while brought back some memories! Byes (and wides) would often be top the scorers in my U14 days, so we always had the "back-stop" in place! Great vid Dan!

Thanks for this, most enjoyable watch. Looks like they were all having a great time out there, and playing some good cricket. Luca is a real talent, reminds me of a young Matt Coles when I used to play with him (and he was a similar age), hitting those 'stand and deliver' shots.

Oh Lance! Junior coaching is improving somewhat in Cornwall, where did you play? I coach the youth and captain St Blazey. It would be great to hear from you all, been a fan for a long time🏏 even a friendly if you fancied a Cornwall tour!!

Lance was a Camborne boy - we went on tour there in 1997 (I think). Played Falmouth, Camborne and somewhere else I can’t remember. Got some of it on film - not great footage but might edit/upload at some point with Lance

Great to watch, some lovely young talent there! I can sympathise with the Cornish Kohli regarding junior cricket, or indeed any cricket at all - not being a "natural talent" like him, not easy to find anything in Berkshire. An abundance of cricket pitches here, but no clubs! Anecdotally it seems to me like counties with first-class cricket teams have much the better structure regarding grassroots cricket, and getting in to the game - often it seems like it's virtually impossible without either a) having a cricket-playing relative or b) showing an aptitude from the age of eight... As for biscuits - Fox's Cream Crunches, or Crunch Creams, or whatever they're called - the double-layered plain ones. Quite marvellous they are, although I do want to stick in an honourable mention for Bourbons, in honour of Dan's magnificent attempt at the world record for the most mentions of the word "chocolate" in a sentence.

@@SandersteadCCTV Good to hear - I think I've only really known two people who are into cricket - one of whom is an Aussie, and one of whom only got involved because they lived next to the cricket club! So excellent to see that it is thriving in certain places - long may it continue. And I think the amount of chocolate was just right - while I would pay money to watch a cricket match for which the entire commentary was you repeating the word "chocolate", others may not agree!
