Your soap is brilliant. Don't be so hard on yourself, it's perfect. Loved the stories about your dad. He sounds so like my late dad (wore Old Spice, was in the RAF, loved gadgets and was rambling until he was 85) that I started to wonder if we had the same dad 😂😂. Both were wonderful fathers, we were so lucky and the dictionary was permanently out in our house too😅. He would be so touched to know you made a soap in his memory ❤❤

Oh, Tammy! I'm so sorry about your dad. Is this what you were talking about in the video earlier this year when you said it had been a rough few weeks? Sending all of y'all so much love! ((((((HUGS!)))))) I can tell you, your dad leaving the military so your family didn't have to move every couple of years was the greatest gift he could have given you. My parents got married right out of high school, too, and my dad went right into the Army. Unlike your dad, he stayed in for 22 years, then went back to work for the Army as a civilian employee six months after retiring. Neither of his marriages survived it, and our family isn't close. I've always thought how much different my life and our family would have been if my dad had left the Army when I was a kid. I loved hearing your stories about your dad (military time! OMG, yes! "Figure it out!" LOL). My favorite story about my dad is when I was in fourth or fifth grade. We were talking about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said that I knew I couldn't be anything like a firefighter or an astronaut because I was a girl. My dad looked me straight in the eye and said, "You can do anything you want, as long as you're happy and not hurting anyone." That philosophy is the greatest gift my dad ever gave me. I live by it to this day. Many hugs, my friend! ❤❤❤

oh Andi - I loved reading this! (yes this is what I was talking about, July and Aug were just tough!) I appreciate your perspective on your dad staying in the military. It makes me appreciate my dad's decision even more. It's crazy (and a bit scary) to think how parent's decisions can have such an impact on the life a kid will lead. I wonder what decision I may have had that affected my sons lives. Better not to dwell 😂 Your dad sure gave you some wonderful advice! WOW! I love that. And you carry it with you is just awesome! Hugs to you from Indiana My Friend!!! 💞💞

Tammy, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been there. I know how much it means to talk about your Dad. Keeping a sort of mental archive of how much we've lost helps us to appreciate how much we once had. Sharing those memories turns grief into joy. You don't have to read this, but I want to take you up on your invitation to share a little story about my Dad. One of my earliest memories is of lying on the back seat of my Daddy's car. It must have been 1971, and I was three or four. It was dark, and all I could see was the glow of the dashboard lights and a rhythmic, growing and shrinking point of red light on the tip of my father's cigarette. My Daddy was softly singing "Bye bye Miss American Pie, drove my Chevy to the levy, but the levy was dry . . ." It's a story about nothing, but when I think about it, I love him so much it almost aches. My father was a quiet, smart, aggravating man with a subtle sense of humor. He was a big, burly, bearded man who planted daffodils everywhere he lived. He was the Johnny Appleseed of daffodils. We lost him in 2011. I have so many things I wish I could say to him.
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique 5 месяцев назад
aw, thanks for sharing that story! I love it so much. It isn't the big production or events that I think we remember most. It is the quiet times, the small little fun times (sitting around the dining room table having a competition to see who could write right handed better LOL) those are the memories I cherish and remember. Thank you again for your story, it made me happy that you have that memory🙂

Tammy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Your dad sounds like a wonderful man! I think our dad's would have been fast friends! My dad loved golf also! If I had to make this soap, I would have to have a golf club wrapped around the tree tho! Hahahahaha! My dad was a Navy man and served in Vietnam. He did 4 years and called it good. He worked in the oil fields after that. He worked with explosives and performed 3- point back off like nobody else in the business. Am I bragging? You bet I am! Hahaha. We lost my dad in 2011 due to lung cancer. He was only 68. He always said it was due to the asbestos they used on the Navy ships, I think it was the 2 packs of cigarettes he smoked a day. The suborn man would never admit it tho. Hahahahaha. Thank you for sharing such wonderful stories! I really hope you find that picture! Love ya! 💛💛💛 Oh, and I think your soap turned out perfect!

This was a perfect video! 💕 you made me smile ,you made me tear up, the soap is absolutely perfect. I 💯 get the scent reminding you. My papaw (the most kindest and gentlest of giants. Beautiful soul) use to wear skin bracers. He has been gone since 2005 and I still have a bottle of his skin bracer. Personally I still like the smell. Every now and then in public I will get a whiff and I just stop smile and look around to see if I can see who is wearing it. I miss him so much sometimes. He would also tap a tune on the bathroom sink with his toothbrush. Everytime I hear that I smile too. You did a great job on this Tamny. Loved the stories

@WalnutCreekBathBoutique 9 месяцев назад
Hey Lori! I don't know the scent of bracer...now I'm curious LOL - it is crazy to me how a scent can immediately take your mind to someone. I had a lilac soap once almost everyone that smelled it said "oh this makes me think of..." Your toothbrush story is so cute! what a fun memory you have of what sounds like an absolute wonderful man! 💖💖💖

That soap is a beautiful sentiment to what's sounds like a wonderful man, and dad❤ i lost my mom that i took care of for the last few years of her life in 2019, Thanksgiving. And my dad got sick right before that and came to live with me also. So they got to spend a few months together before she past. My dad has dementia, so i get to hear stories about his time in the Navy, and back in Kansas where he's from. Always the same stories but that's ok. LOL thanks for sharing your memories of your dad❤ and i love the soap, with the whispy clouds!

So sorry to hear about your dad. My siblings and I lost our mother last year on New Year's Eve after a brief illness. She was 70. We lost our dad on Christmas Eve at the age of 70 in 2016 after a long protracted illness (diabetes) caused by Agent Orange exposure he had from his two tour-of duties in Vietnam in the 60s. He spent the last 10 years of his life shuffling between home and various VA hospitals/clinics. Mom's the one who held him all together ❤. My favorite story about my dad was his explanation for a 4 inch scar he had on his left upper arm. He tried to convince us when we were kids that he got it fighting Indians in the West. The story would change from how it happened. Sometimes it was an arrow wound. Sometimes it was a tomahawk. Once, when I was grown, he offered to tell me the true story of how he got it, but I refused to hear. I said I'd rather believe the Indian story 😂
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique 9 месяцев назад
oh Wendy, I am so sorry to hear about your mom and dad. I know it happens, right, but it is so sad. I hope the VA was good to your dad. I don't know how they were in 2016 but I can say that I was blown away at the care and respect shown to my dad there. Your mom sounds like she was a wonderful and strong women. oh my gosh - that story is priceless! I love it. I think I love even more that you didn't want to hear anything but the Indian story! 💖💖💖

Actually, if your dad ever got care at the Indianapolis VA over the years, then he might have been there the same time as my dad. My dad often had to have surgeries at Indianapolis that Danville (IL) VA didn't offer. So, yes. They were always good to him. 🙂

I am so sorry for your loss of your Dad. I lost my brother to a drunk driver in August, so know how hard it is. My other brother has had 2 strokes and my sister is fighting bone cancer. She lost her son, my nephew, to colon cancer a year and a half ago. I know how hard it is for family members to go through the loss of loved ones. Lisa is incredibly talented and makes fantastic discs for soaping. Love her selections! I think it's wonderful of you to make a soap in memory of your Dad. It reminds us that every or any day of the year is a great time to pay tribute to Dads or Mothers, not just the one day a year set aside for them. A very very nice soap and I love it! Cheers & Blessings 👍🤗💕
